We thought we were all being pioneers on Static Prevails because we listed an email address that people could write us at. That was not a thing in ’96. So this person wrote in - I don’t know why they were writing us - but they were just talking about how they felt like they weren’t being accepted by the punk rock kids at their school. She wasn’t punk enough for them. It was really weird, because punk is supposed to be inclusive. It’s supposed to be about not caring. It’s supposed to be the opposite of the behaviour that these people were exhibiting. "I was just like, you don’t need those people anymore. Why do you care so much about this external validation? It’s a lifelong pursuit.
"Bleed American", "A Praise Chorus", "Sweetness", "Hear You Me", and "The Authority Song" are also other great tracks off this album. Also, songs like "Pain", "Just Tonight", and "Futures" off their follow-up album are amazing. Underrated band.

It brings warm feelings seeing oldies that I would have considered in the day "modern" being revitalized in youth today... kinda like how I was a hipster for oldies myself while still loving the music of the day.

Oh I’m so happy you’ve found Jimmy Eat World! These are one of my fave bands alongside Fall Out Boy! Every song on the Bleed American album is a banger! I have spent many a night on the dance floor in the club dancing my heart out to them! I agree with everyone else listen to Sweetness and for a different pace - Hear You Me which has played at so many funerals and breaks my heart!
