Far cry from when she lived in this house. During the end of her life, I understand her cats took over the house and it was a stinking mess. But when she first bought this house, it must have looked similar to the new, except the kitchen, and floors. Nice house!

@@Mrs_Sue_L_21381 One more thought...I don't blame her for not liking Andy. If you notice in the opening of the show they say....starring Andy Griffith....Ronny Howard and Don Knotts. She is not mentioned in the opening of the show as being one of the stars. I thought that was so wrong. Frances Bavier should of been mentioned as one of the stars of the show.

FB was an 'eccentric' HERMIT after she retired, and her 'beautiful home' was in SQUALOR filled with the 'ESSENCE' of cat pee and feces! That image/STENCH is hard to get out of my head, bcuz I am a senior myself who lives in a humble but immaculate home with the SWEET ESSENCE of ozone. I also have ONE well-cared for and healthy cat...

I wasn’t expecting something so large. Thought she’d live in a somewhat smaller home. Things that belonged to her, from the house, were available on eBay not too long after her death.

I heard she spent most of her time in a large back room with a bed and her desk. She wasn't a good housekeeper. She had 14 cats and they used her basement for a cat box. Andy Griffith and Ron Howard gave her a surprise visit one day. Needless to say she didn't answer the door. Maybe Andy should of called before going. lol. I love Aunt Bee.

I was in that house and the basement while it was being sold and it was not a dump and it certainly wasn't as beautiful as the video. She had a white piano that was gorgeous. There was a separate concrete ish shower stall in the basement that was probable used to take c are of the animals. (Just guessing). After all people had lived there after she had. Either way, it is absolutely gorgeous now.

It was reported just after she died, she never let in visitors in, and the house was in bad decline. She had a dozen or so cats
and neighbors were chased away. When she opened the door cat pee was so over bearing .When she died it was said the
place was filthy and the outside grounds hadn't been cut in years. The photos are Real Estate pictures after the clean up.

@@charmed2u2 🏆Yes, heard the same🐈... She was not in good health and lived on the first floor🛏... Maybe she did not have good eyesight either🧐... Her backyard was beautiful and she had all those windows... Arthritis probably prevented her mobility, so if she did not answer her door, she just was not up to having company... Before she died, she phoned Andy to apologize for her rude treatment [she did not like him, maybe because of his affair(s)?] ...I thought calling Andy was 🆒️... And, she resented her career being identified as just "Aunt Bea"... Because, as an actress with many other roles, she did not like being stereotyped... She sure was an important character on Andy's show, like Barney and Lloyd, and Gomer, etc. EVERYBODY loved Aunt Bea! 🧡 ...Barney's TV girlfriend died "recently" and lived in Mt. Airy, NC...she was old, and would sometimes give tours... Am not sure if she was ever married, but she and her character seemed "sweet to the bone"...🥀

This is high end furniture. I bet most of it wasn't there when she was alive. I kind of imagine her with more modest furniture. I watch a lot of shows on house flipping for profit. When they took these pictures they were intended to resale. In other words it's been staged like a model home. Her house was up for sale for seven hundred thousand but that doesn't mean they got that much.

She sunk all her money into this house the reason she didn't leave the place she hated. She was far from rich because it's easy to imagine a early 1960s sitcom like Andy Griffith not paying that much. She may have had a little money in the bank used for emergency survival money but I even doubt that. She was alive today she would be celebrating her 118 th birthday. R.I.P
