I recommend all disabled veterans to check it out with Mobility Direct! Thank you MD...a great video for those disabled who wants to travel on airplanes.
Thank you for your awesome comment. We really appreciate it. The Solax transformer is a good scooter, but I just find that when traveling with it, it gets damage quite easily. It's our number one repaired scooter. Most of the time, it's because of airline damage.

I have a DME type scooter that doesn’t fold with dry cell battery. It’s received some cosmetic damage by the airlines. Some airlines handle it gentler than others. It’s been to Tahiti. Has more air miles on it than my car has road miles.
We just got back from our cruise yesterday. I have never had any problems traveling with my pride mobility scooter, I always contact the airlines to make sure it’s going to fit in that bottom compartment they store it in, until last week. When we arrived at the end of the first of two flights at the airport they were not bringing my scooter up to me. I was told by the pilot and stewardess that they would bring it up to me at the gate entrance. Well after about a good 20-25 minutes later and worried I was going to miss my connecting flight they finally brought it up holding pieces of the floorboard in their hands saying sorry it broke. We were booked on two different carriers by the cruise line and when trying to put in a claim, the first airline that damaged the scooter told me that they were not responsible and I would have to file a claim with the second airline they said it was called the “Final Carrier Policy”the whole floorboard .needs to be replaced and is now easily breaking apart. I am hoping they come thru and reimburse me for the cost of the repair. Don’t think these airline workers are as careful as they used to be, and thinking I need to purchase one of the new lightweight airplane aluminum scooters.
@robertawyatt9246 That's too bad but it's really hard to avoid situations out of your control. Hoping for the best for you Robert. Thanks for watching our video and commenting. We appreciate the support.
Hey Drew. I have a power wheelchair and plan on taking it to Spain. My wife and I thought about just wrapping it securely up in an extra-large duffle, and using airport assistance to get the wheelchair through baggage check. Will that work? Thanks for your support to the community. Great videos, btw!
I would do it the way I did. Your scooter will be held separately from the luggage. Doing it my way won't cost you a dime. If you put it in a bag and check it you're going to pay and then some for the oversize luggage. Best of luck and thanks for commenting!
@@MobilityDirect Just to be clear, I have a HEAVY (82 lbs.) power WHEELCHAIR. My thoughts are: packing it up and running it through baggage check, it'll be less likely to be mis-handled or broken. Furthermore, aren't disabled people allowed 2 free disability-related items to be checked-in?
@@dominiclavu193they will question why you aren’t using it. My mobility scooter weighs 100 lbs, dry cell batter and we travel extensively with it. It’s flown to Honolulu and then back from Tahiti- it’s got some air & sea miles on her. 😉I have the Z-10.
@@amynutzell7222 Thanks for your reply Amy! My wife and I will be taking a trip to the airport and speaking with the airlines to get their reccomendations. I'm still getting acquainted to how things are done. Just want to minimize damage to my needed equipment.
Its personal preference, but i like the power wheelchair because navigating close quarter navigation. I like the scooter becuase I can hold more. If I was solo I would use a folding mobility scooter, but with a helper I would use a folding power wheelchair.
You know if you get a bag that splits for laptop or tablet device you don’t really need take out laptop also if you put your phone on in the side mesh or netting of the bag they may let you go
No, they require you to take the laptop out at specific airports. The reason is the type of x-ray being used. Anything larger than a cell phone comes out of your bags more often than not.
@@MobilityDirect I went to LA and Vegas with my tsa approved YOREPEK 18.4 Laptop Large Backpacks one of tsa guys told me I just unzip make it flat the back that it didn’t need take it out almost got scolding for it in LA when I was taking out of the bag later one of them said it saves time and it considered wasting bins..
I bought a pride mobility zero turn-8 last year from mobility direct I really love the scooter. I don’t think there’s another scooter that fits me better but I would like to know if anybody thinks there is a better one for traveling on an airplane because I am used to traveling on an airplane with my scooter and I had an issue the other day where the ramp agent left my scooter at the bottom of the gate I waited 30 minutes for them to bring it up and the ramp agent decided not to bring it up. My flight landed at 5:40 in the afternoon and I was waiting at oversize luggage until about 7:10 PM and still no scooter.
Unfortunately, sometimes things aren't going to go your way and it kind of has to be expected. The pride ZT8 is a great option for travel, but it's not the lightest.
I have the Z10 and love it. I have them tag when we arrive and check luggage so the luggage handlers know in advance so they know how to load the plane. The flight attendant always makes sure the arrival crew knows they need to unload it quickly because it’s essentially my legs. The only place I’ve had a problem is LAX and LAX is just always a joke. Everywhere else and we travel alot has been a breeze. My scooter handles the steepest hills great.
@@MobilityDirect it’s a shame that people would do this to me at the airport because I have cerebral palsy and the reason why I travel with my scooter is because I am being less and less mobile, but I am grateful that the flight attendant tried his best to help me after standing with me inside the gate and telling the ground crew multiple times to please bring up my scooter, but it is very shameful to know how mean people could be because the the ground crew replied to the flight attendant that they weren’t going to bring it up what do you think I should do if that happens again because normally they would bring it up to the gate that was my first time that something like this happened
I noticed that you were using the Pride Carbon Fiber scooter at the beginning of the video but then you were filmed using the Golden Buzzaround scooter once you got to security and for the rest of the video. Was there some sort of issue with the Pride Carbon Fiber scooter? I ask because my husband is strongly considering purchasing the Carbon Fiber scooter. And he will absolutely be using it on airlines. Thank you.
Hello. There was nothing wrong with either scooter. We just have so much footage we use the best shots. Not to mention, we like to show love to both of our best partners, Pride Mobility and Golden Technologies. Both of these scooters Go Go Carbon and the Buzzaround Carry-On are exceptional products. -Drew
It was because I could not walk through the x-ray. You are legally allowed to film anything in public. An airport is a public space, however, the airplane it's self is not, and that's where the line is drawn in the sand.
Being ex military and becoming an amputee I wasted years of my life refusing to use a mobility aid resulting in me virtually becoming a hermit in my own home. It was only when my wife finally broke down in tears telling me how my "pride" was also destroying her life as well as my own did I finally do something. Our son bought me an expensive mobility scooter and it took all my willpower to adventure out into the general public ie. the real world. You know what? I realised then and there my fear and anxiety had been all in my mind. Since that day when I first ventured out on a mobility scooter I and my wife have travelled extensively and I have never encountered a bad word or bad experience. So my friends, anyone out there who is experiencing the same negativity I went through, I tell you this. Your apprehension is all in the mind and to be honest, 99.9% of people who I have come across on my travels are decent and helpful if asked.

Can never be to safe in this crazy world 😢
You're right. The world has gone mad!
Thankyou for this video being disabled never flew always attempted train but would prefer flying
@danielwirth8388 Glad you like the video. Thanks for watching our video and commenting! We appreciate the support.
What about the Charger? can that stay with he scooter or has to be carry on with the battery?
There are no restrictions on the charger. Keeping it on the scooter or in your bags is fine. Thanks for commenting!
which would be less of a hassle, scooter or foldable power wheel chair?
Love your scooter

I’ve been told not to get off the plane until someone you trust tells you the device is waiting for you on the jet bridge.
@@dsheridan4497 yes I also was told that after what happened to me to not to get off the plane that nobody could force me off the plane
-Drew
Was that thorough body search because you couldn't go through the metal detector or xray? I'm surprised they let you film it.
@stevenhull5025 That's awesome! Thank you for sharing your story. We love that you're now able to go out and travel. Thanks for watching our video and commenting. We appreciate the support!
I have always have a very nice experience at airports except when AA messed my scooter in 2007. JetBlue for me is the best.

How do people with alzheimers handle using a mobility scooter. Is there a remote controlled version available for carers to have hands free for shopping?

Thank you for this informative video! I have a ComfyGo MS 3000 36V/15.6Ah 250W Folding Mobility Scooter with up to 25+ miles (15.6Ah Battery). I wanted to know if this scooter would be okay to travel on an airplane with.
Yes that scooter will work, but only with the small 10ah battery. Volts x Amps = watt hours. Thanks for commenting!
@@MobilityDirect Thank you! I'm not going to be able to use the one I have. It has the longer range 15.6ah battery.
Btw, I'm in North Palm Beach. Nice legs papi! ❤ Very good video. Pete

Did they find anything suspicious in there???!
I wonder if the TSA really has any trained explosive experts capable of actually, you know, identifying any explosive devices? 🤔🤔🥸🧐😵
Haha. TSA actually did an exceptional job handling me. Believe me when I tell you. I am not the easiest person to deal within the public eye. Especially when it comes to mobility matters. I take this stuff very seriously. Thanks for your comment and support!
