Rutgers has had two weeks to install some plays that have not been seen before. On the other hand not playing a game in two weeks may dull the razor edge that the players need to perform optimally.

I honestly think Rutgers wins this game by a decent margin.

Yes i think Rutgers win as well but i think they win easier than you think just because they kept things real vanilla on offense and defense and they are missing like 4 defensive players like Bailey, rainy, Dixon, and powell ..and dremel hasn't played offense yet either ..so we'll see

The Virginia tech front 7 is so bad that Rutgers could run the ball to the left on every play and win

This will be a dogfight .
Throw away the Vandy game VA Tech is good.
I hope Rutgers plays ball control and owns time of possession. Rutgers 24 Va Tech 17.

Tech will run man cover 0 with noooo problems, best secondary Rutgers will face. Won't keep Monangai under 100, probably not under 150, but will keep Rutgers under 20. Tech's run D problems are they hold teams to like 50 yards then WHOOPS, bad run fit once and a 70 yard pop. Tuten is on all conference and the WR room is, like Schiano says, at least top3 they will see. Final score Tech 28, Rutgers 17

Hmm...where do i start. Last season Rutgers did not "dominate" VaTech. Two things to remember, this was Kyron Drones first game as the starting QB in an offense designed around Grant Wells, and it was early in the season and Tech had major problems stopping the run early in the season, but they improved as the season went on. Versus Rutgers last season, Tech was stopping the run but would make a mistake in gap coverage or a read, and then would get gashed on big runs on 3rd and long or 3rd and medium, which is also where Rutgers scored. With the exception of one passing TD, all of your scores last year came on long runs of 19, 34, 55 and 12 yds. Those runs comprised 120 yds out of the 256 rushing yds Rutgers had in the game. This year Tech has struggled a bit against the run, but I think we can all agree Tech has played better competition thus far than Rutgers. So far this year Tech has only allowed an average of 19.3 ppg, 123 pass yds, and 190 rushing yds per game, of which ODU racked up a lot of garbage yards and a score against 3rd and 4th stringers late in the game which are skewing the numbers. Tech's Defense is much improved over last year and has gotten better each game. I saw some of the Akron game and your O-Line had trouble with their rush in the first half. Techs front four and secondary will be the best you've seen this year and probably one of the best all year. Tech has a good offense, a good dual threat QB, a very good running and passing game. All of that plus this is at Lane Stadium... I'm going with VT for the win.

Much better offensively RU this year than last. Monangai bigger stronger. RU defense was top 25 defense last year returning 10 starters. They will exploit the weak Hokie defense. RU 27-23

@@rembold5934 Define dominated? is it in all aspects of the game? Rushing yards? Passing yards? is solely based on the final score and margin of victory? How do you measure domination? Tech had more time of possession, More total yards, more passing yards. Tech just couldn't score which I would argue was less about Rutgers and more about how the offense was schemed for the previous starting QB. Rutgers scored on big runs, not by driving the ball down in a dominant fashion. Monangi is a helluva back and he's going to get his yardage, but even in that "dominant" performance as you say, he only had 143 yds. but hey clearly you must've been watching different game or most likely measure a what a dominant performance looks like differently.

24-21 tech. Go look at ODU tape they had two big runs, and the other yards came in crap time with our backups. Rutgers will be forced to be one dimensional it just all depends if peebles and the linebackers can plug the gaps and tackle. It’s gonna be tough for Rutgers to play their first real game in this environment against a comparable opponent.

@@daeronsmith2373 Virginia tech practically gave up zero yards in the second half other than the garbage time yards. ODU defense is held South Carolina back and ECU. ODU only got about 27% of the available yards while tech had about 78%. The only faults tech had in this game were allowing the to big runs in the first half due to miscues and not cashing in on TDs that were FG. They honestly couldn’t have played much better and I look for tech to play a complete game against Rutgers, which would give them the edge over Rutgers.

Not with that run defense. Physical teams seem to give Tech problems. This isn't the Rutgers of old where it was penciled in as an easy win. Rutgers offensive line coach has two Super Bowl rings with the Tom Coughlin/Eli Manning era Giants - and it shows. And with the returning production along that offensive line, it will prove to be the difference in a Rutgers victory.
