This movie's scene where she finds out what part he DID use of her lives rent free in my brain. It was her ears. He used the real girl's EARS for the AI.
@@TheBlackShinigami not really, if your family is poor then it doesn't matter if you test into the fancy intellectual schools in San Francisco. Because even if you get offered a scholarship, you can't afford to move 10 hours away so you end up just staying in public school.
I had a friend that was crazy smart and started working for the NSA in high school in cyber security. He was one of those people that was doing "harmless" hacking for fun but for caught and recruited eventually
This is definitely one of the more underrated DCOMS. It always made me sad when Loretta gets the chance to feel the rain for the first time, through Sam's body.
This movie seems to assume that what Rosco deems perfect *is* what's perfect for everyone else. Also, I think art isn't supposed to be the expression of perfection; art comes from our insecurities, strife, dilemmas, pain... in short, to cope with things that makes us human, rather than gods. And if those things didn't exist, I think that would largely do away with art.
You gotta do 2002’s Simone. It’s Al Pacino playing a director who “discovers” an actress that takes the world by storm. The twist? It’s all a giant deepfake. It’s aged AMAZINGLY. Please watch it. It needs more love.
Facts! That's literally what came to mind when I saw this, and it's actually really well written I remember tearing up a few times in that flick and I still have the dvd in my room somewhere.
Some of you may think that Pig is wrong. He isn't. He has the power of instantly changing his hair style within a picosecond. Not only that, but he also gave me a new need for a fidget toy that gives me funny air.
I don't think real aware sentient AI would want to "live" since they don't get to experience stuff like we do and a brain needs enough sensory inputs and ways to interact with the outside world or it will go crazy, like imagine if you had your brain stuffed in a jar and you were still alive somehow... Everything would be darkness and your only friend are your own thoughts, and neurons that other people are firing off for you, never knowing what thought is truly yours, after enough time you'd yearn for death... Especially since that's a hologram but the holograms brain is still in a computer, having your body separated from your mind, to live with a literal version of disassociation... In my opinion that's some psychological body horror worse than the thing...

Yay, my evening got better! I love your deep dives in movies. You opened up a whole new movieverse for me. Especially with stop motion movies.Thank you!
Parts of the plot kinda remind me of Chobits. And the guy in that story picks the computer girl over a human girl too! Pretty sure I watched this movie and read the manga around the same time (or at least within a couple of years). Not the greatest for my teenage self to read about... liiiike "if a boy dates you, he's settling" 😅 I remember loving both at the time though! Thanks for talking about this movie! I totally forgot about it! So nostalgic!
(I watched it for the first time last year) Chobits kinda fools you with the guy picking over the human girl though cause in the first half it appears as a harem but then everyone turns out to have different relationships with other people and the only girl left is the AI, the weirdest part about Chobits for me was that the way they handle robot-human relationships was weirdly nice and not in like a fetishising way, like the main thing I remember from that anime was the story where a guy lost his previous robot girlfriend and then one of the human girls (who at first appears to be the most overtly in love with MC) in the show broke up with him after learning about it cause she thought she was inferior due to being human but then that story ends with him getting with the human girl again cause he told her she is her own person and the android was her own person. btw what's with android romance anime always having something to do with memories - Chobits, Plastic Memories, Atri -My Dear Moments- all do that and have depressing but somewhat hopeful endings, not complaining though I love those anime/vn and even cried at them (Espicially the PS Vita game Plastic Memories got).
It's actually wild how many movies from this time predicted the future, like smart house for example. It's really kind of unsettling when you really think about it 🤔
Eh, it's not all that surprising since this film came out around the time those technologies and niches were in their infancy. I still remember reading a book about technological advancements around 2003 that predicted how holograms would be used by the 2010's and how primitive forms of social media would explode. People saw this miles away, it was just hoped it would be curved in more positive ways.
Wow, this was a trip down memory lane for me, I never watched that movie again since I stopped having access to Cable TV, I had forgotten so much about the movie, I mean I remembered bits and pieces from time to time but that whole stealing the body of the other Girl thing, damn, such a crazy movie, I used to like it and I think I still do. It totally parallels what many unstable individuals have done with fictional characters nowadays.
There is such a thing as perfection. It's growing out of Pig's head😊. The only way his hair could exceed perfection is if he gives into that perfection and just lets it grow unimpeded forever.

What's worse is the fact that Sam was hoping that he used some of her features because she liked him, only for him to double down only on her EARS 😭😩
i like that none of the disney movies ever explained how all these kids were science savants in high school.

It's a post-Zenon world where NOT being a super genius in high school science is a cause for concern.
The "look at me like you're in love" scene was creepy as hell with the storm in the background. This movie is strangely eerie now.
