2010 NBA FINAls are SUPER underrated. Defensive showcase. Artest getting like 7 steals in game 7. Kobe getting doubled/tripled teamed. every loose ball was a wrestling match. Refs let players play on.
It was the last finals series that was a defensive master class. End of the slowest paced era in NBA history.

That game 7 was amazing. Worst game in NBA Finals history for boxscore lovers I guess, but the way they were fighting with the stakes at their highest was simply amazing. A good game to learn that stats are not everything.
And about that Fisher layup, I think I speak for most, if not all Lakers fans at the time, that when he jumped for the layup, we were all like "What the fuck are you doing D- YESSSSSS, WELL DONE DEREK!!!"

Some feedback: Audio quality is perfect, footage is perfect, and pacing is perfect. There's some weird editing choices with the bane voice and the joker voiceover since Jokic is called Joker. A line like 'and then the mamba struck' or 'the Mamba's strike finds its mark. again. and again. and again' could work. 9:11 can have a smoother flow if you swap the order of who you talk about. Since the Celtics won, talk about how Kobe was putting the pressure on and then talk about how Pierce had a 'knockout performance, shooting...'. Kobe throws the first punch, Pierce counters, Celtics win.

Both the 09, and especially, 2010 Finals is the reason why Kobe is a mostly consensus top 10 all time player; and at the time elevated Kobe to being top 5 in many all time list by people like Charles Barkley, etc (obviously this is before Kobe's decline post 2010, and LeBron's ascension, etc.).

1:40 2009 wasn't necessarily a "cruise" for the Lakers... They faced literaly 12 teams that had 50+ wins in the regular season from 2008-2010 playoffs. Arguably one of the most difficult playoff runs in NBA history.

Super overrated teams. Not once did he face a team that had even as many All-NBA players than his team.
Who did he beat in 09? Utah in round 1 with zero All-NBA players. Taken to 7 games against a Rockets team whose best player with Ron Artest (who thereafter joined LA). Beat Denver who had 1 All-NBA player, and Boston with 1 All-NBA player, some shady officiating and a horrible Game 7 by Kobe.

As a Celtics fan, not only does the perk injury hurt, but the reffing in game 7 was extremely fishy. The lakers had like 20+ free throws in the 4th quarter alone if I remember right and finished with almost 40 compared to 15ish from the Celtics. Remember being so pissed lmao

Personally, I think the 2010 NBA Finals are underrated because the NBA media attention was all on two other news stories at the time: Phil Jackson’s pending retirement from the NBA as the Lakers’ Head Coach, and Lebron’s pending decision about where to take his talents moving forward since his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers had just ended and the Cavs had a second round playoff exit that year. Either way, those side stories didn’t affect the Lakers’ or the Celtics’ play during all seven games of the 2010 Finals. But perhaps people were slightly more focused on the given transitions in the league at the time and less on the game itself.

Yes. Both teams were gassed in game 7. Nobody could score anymore. It is way more epic than the game 7 between Warriors and Cavs in 2016. That game 7 wasn't as legit because Draymond Green got suspended for 2 crucial games.
