  • Complete kitchen walkthrough for my Toyota HiAce campervan conversion.
    It was my mission to create THE most functional campervan kitchen that I could fit in a Hiace without sacraficing the nice (Instagram van😅) aesthetic.
    I'm really proud of the final design and can happily say after almost a year living in the van that I'd definately recommend the design to any ambitious van builder.
    But I hope you can find a few features that you think might make life easier on the road even if the whole build isn't your cup of tea!
    This stylish campervan kitchen design includes:
    Outdoor cooking bench (single gas stove/chopping board)
    Access to running water at sliding door (Game changer!)
    Heaps of storage
    52L Bushmans Fridge
    Utility space (10/10 recomend!)
    Completely self-contained plumbing system (accessible for maintenance)
    -Seaflo 21 series 12v water pump
    -Seaflo water inlet
    -42L Fresh/20L grey water tanks
    -John Guest/food grade 10mm flex hose plumbing
    -Bidet hose (Bunnings)
    -Ugly campervan tap
    -DIY sink made from Bain Maree stainless tray
    Electronics HUB
    Thanks for watching guys! I'm looking forward to answering any questions and I appreciate your support!

    Sick build! Got a Hiace after selling my DIY converted transit. Will definitely be using this as inspiration!

      Love it man! You must have heaps of ideas after that first build too 😄 I'd love to hear any improvements you've thought of on this build! 🙂

    As someone with the same van, more pov style, I’d say you’ve absolutely nailed the design and layout Jake. Are you able to get your seats back for engine access/services etc? Ta 👏🏻🥰

      Yes you can absolutely get access for servicing. Ran it by my mechanic before beginning 🙂

    Really nice set up, well done! How did you go with the electrical work? Did you register it from commercial to camper? Cheers

    Does your kitchen setup allow access to the engine hatches behind it? like the hatches that allow you access to the oil filter etc?

    • @JourneyVanBuilds
      @JourneyVanBuilds  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes absolutely 🙂 I spoke with my mechanic before beginning to make sure I left all the appropriate access

      Hi Chris and Alex! I'll keep that in mind if I'm ever up your way haha I've never been sailing.
      I hear you man. The framing for walls and ceiling is what heaps of people struggle with so don't feel bad. I have a pretty good little system but I don't have any videos on it yet. I'll see if I can put something together explaining how I do it for you 👍🏼

      Very well done. I have a question. If you hinged the cabinet top over the open space would you have access to the cab? I really liked the drawer hardware and the location of the outside cooking tray.

  • @CloudSpirals

    I love your set-up, brother!
    Have a slwb Hiace to build, and many Hiace/van builds have the kitchen in that location which I've wanted to avoid so that I can jump between the back and front when required.
    Your "free space" idea just solved my problem!! Will go with that design now, but, will add a hinge above it on the countertop so I can lift it for access into the cabin area!!! 🤘👍🫶

    • @JourneyVanBuilds
      @JourneyVanBuilds  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A hinge to allow access is actually genius! I hadn't even thought of that but you're right and it wouldn't even be difficult to install 🤩 Love it

      @JourneyVanBuilds
      Yeah, I think the front kitchen layout is the best option, but I just couldn't get past that hurdle. Have to be able to access the front from inside for security purposes.... or bad weather, etcetera.
      Have also thought to redesign that middle seat to face backwards for an extra bum space facing the back/living area.
      I probably wouldn't have come up with the hinge idea without seeing your empty space idea!
