  • As the world's only Jewish state, Israel sits as the lone democracy in a sea of Middle East dictatorships. According to Israeli actress-turned-author, Noa Tishby, it's the most misunderstood country on earth.

I applaud your mission Noa. I am not Jewish, but the level of ignorance I have personally encountered regarding Israel in: England, France, Brazil and Ireland is stunning!
Here are some examples I have encountered: I had a short discussion with a church goer in a church and he blamed Israrl for the oppression of women and terrorism. I was confused, so I asked him to explain. He replied, you know all these terrorists in Afghanistan. When I pointed out that these wete Islamic people and clearly not Jews, he stomped off in a hissy!
Currently the number of people who think that the Palestinians are an ancient race of people, and that Palestine is an ancient country belonging to Palestinians is mind bliwing!
Others seem not to understand that the kingdom of Israel was established c. 3,000 years ago.
More subtle is the number of secular people who think Islam is fundamentally a religion of peace!
I did know know about your book, so I look foreard to reading that and learning what I still do not know.

I can relate to her as a Jewish-American who has a life-long relationship with Israel. I've had to explain SO MUCH to people about Israel. And the US (and Americans) are ABSOLUTELY the WORST with their opinions and pre-concieved notions about what Israel is.
My Alma Mater was one of the first US colleges to divest from Israel via the BDS movement. I therefore IMMEDIATELY stopped donating. This was back in 2009.
And OF COURSE, the Student Justice in Palestine chapter on my Alma Mater's campus (as they are on over 200 campuses across the US, Canada & New Zealand) was funded by American Muslims for Palestine and their funding sources were REALLY DUBIOUS. As in, coming from sources that are knownTerrorist-affiliated and Terrorist-apologist groups.

What astonishes me is that the socialist/Marxist movement on campuses are tied in with this free Palestine movement. It's an unholy alliance, and it's a huge problem for society. Our young people are just bombarded with outright fraudulent information at places that are supposed to be institutions of higher learning.

To be fair to most of us Americans, how can we know about Israel, the Middle East, even Africa, Asia, and Europe? We are so geographically separated. We know that our history books, news sources, media, television, etc., are very biased and don't always report just the facts. Even what we are taught in our churches is not always 100% accurate. History that has been taught for generations is now being changed. Science (Biology) that has been taught for generations is now being changed... by so-called scientists, medical professionals, etc. Travel outside the United States is not as easy for most Americans. Most Americans work 40+ hours per week, have families to feed, and barely make enough to put extra money aside to travel. Americans who can travel outside the U.S. usually only have a week or so to visit, so definitely not enough time to learn/experience the culture. Of course, this doesn't represent all Americans, but it represents most of us. Americans are also judged unfairly by people who have never stepped foot on our soil and don't really know our history as well...a history that is getting erased/canceled by Progressives. The rare people who speak up to preserve our history and heritage (no matter how atrocious it might be) and try to protect our children from this pronoun/transgender madness are silenced.

@@goldencalf5144 I took the time to research what life was like in South Africa under apartheid. Blacks in the old South Africa were denied EVERYTHING. They couldn't even live in the cities, which was how South Africa ended up with slum dwelling townships such as SOWETO (Southwestern Township), just southwest of Johannesburg.
In Israel, Arab Israelis serve in the government and have full voting rights. If you're going to call Israel an apartheid state, I sure would like to know your definition of apartheid.
Israel never set out to conquer the West Bank. It preemptively attacked Egypt and Jordan (The West Bank was Jordan, not Palestine) when those countries, especially Gemal Abdel Nasser, were flamboyantly bragging their heads off about how they were going to destroy Israel. Israel, due to having only a tiny mass of land, fought the 1967 war out of self defense. That is how it "colonized" the West Bank. It can never annex this occupied territory because those new citizens, now having the right to vote, would simply vote Israel out of existence.
Gaza was a separate country, a full Palestinian state. We saw what a disaster it was. We saw what ultimately happens if Israel has no control over the activities inside one of these Palestinian states.
You can call Israel an apartheid state; you can label it a colonizer; you can label it a terrorist state. You would be wrong, of course, but it does not matter what you or your professors say. Israel will defend itself by any means necessary and at any cost, including nuclear. So, it's basically Israel or nothing, and you're not going to change that.

People misunderstand Judaism because its a nation and not a religion and a nation can accommodate a variety of different perspectives. Israel looks chaotic but because of the disagreements within a family, it looks like people won’t come to a consensus. At the end of day, Jews do come to together because people in a family love each other and if October 7 taught us anything, Israel can rally together in a time of national crisis. People who don’t get what Israel is really all about won’t be able to see past the facile, erroneous and misleading headlines written about it.

I know, it's supposed to be that magical time of year,
but maybe, what we all really need
right now, is a good dose of realism.
I see a lot of nativity scenes when I'm out,
as you always do before Christmas.
    And I can't help thinking
about where that manger really is.
It's in the West Bank on Palestinian land,
    controlled by the Palestinian authority.
In 1950, the little town of Bethlehem
was 86 percent Christian, now it's overwhelmingly Muslim.
And that's my point tonight, things change.
To 2.3 billion Christians, there can be no more sacred site
than where their Savior was born but they don't have it anymore.
And yet, no Crusader Army has geared up to take it back.
    Things change. Countries, boundaries, empires.
Palestine was under the Ottoman Empire
for 400 years, but today, an ottoman is something
    you put under your feet.
    The city of Byzantium
    became the city of Constantinople,
became Istanbul. Not everybody liked it,
but you can't keep arguing the call forever.
The Irish had the entire island to themselves,
but the British were starting an Empire,
and well, the Irish lost their tip.
They blew each other up over it for 30 years,
but eventually everybody comes to an accommodation,
    except the Palestinians.
    Was it unjust
that even a single Arab family was forced to move
upon the founding of the Jewish state? Yes.
    But it's also not rare.
Happening all through history, all over the world,
and mostly what people do is make the best of it.
After World War II, 12 million ethnic Germans
got shoved out of Russia, and Poland, and Czechoslovakia
because being German had become kind of unpopular.
A million Greeks were shoved out of Turkey in 1923,
a million Ghanaians out of Nigeria in 1983,
almost a million French out of Algeria in 1962,
nearly a million Syrian refugees moved to Germany
eight years ago. Was that a perfect fit?
And no one knows more about being pushed off land...
...than the Jews. Including being almost wholly kicked out
of every Arab country they once lived in.
    -Yes, TikTok fans…..
    ….ethnic cleansing happened both ways.
In Fiddler on the Roof, the family is always moving
to stay one step ahead of the Cossacks,
    but they deal with it.
When they're leaving Anatevka, they say,
"Hey, it wasn't so great anyway."
Now, that's not how they really felt,
but they were coping. They coped.
Because sometimes, that's all you can do.
History is brutal and humans are not good people.
History is sad and full of wrongs,
but you can't make them unhappen
    because a paraglider isn't a time machine.
People get moved, and yes, colonized.
Nobody was a bigger colonizer than the Muslim army
that swept out of the Arabian Desert
and took over much of the world in a single century.
And they didn't do it by asking.
    There's a reason Saudi Arabia's flag is a sword.
Kosovo was the cradle of Christian Serbia,
    then it became Muslim.
They fought a war about it in the '90s, but stopped.
They didn't keep it going for 75 years.
There were deals on the table
to share the land called Palestine.
    In 1947, '93, '95, '98,
    2000, 2008.
And East Jerusalem could have been the capital
of a Palestinian state that today might look
    more like Dubai than Gaza.
Arafat was offered 95 percent of the West Bank,
    and said ‘no’.
The Palestinian people should know, your leaders
and the useful idiots on college campuses
who are their allies are not doing you any favors
by keeping alive "The River to the Sea" myth.
I mean where do you think Israel is going?
    -Spoiler alert, nowhere.
It's one of the most powerful countries in the world
    with the 500-billion-dollar economy,
the world's second largest tech sector
after Silicon Valley, and nuclear weapons.
They're here, they like their bagel
with a shmear, get used to it.
What's happening to Palestinians today is horrible,
and not just in Gaza, in the West Bank too.
    But wars end with negotiation
and what the media glosses over is--
    It's hard to negotiate
when the other side's bargaining position
is you all die and disappear.
I mean, the chant "From the River to the Sea."
Yeah, let's look at the map.
Here's the river, here's the sea.
Oh, I see, it means you get all of it.
    Not just the West Bank
which was basically the original UN partition deal you rejected
because you wanted all of it and always have.
    Even though, it's indisputably
    also the Jews' ancestral homeland.
And so, you attacked and lost. And attacked again and lost.
    And attacked again and lost.
As my friend, Dr. Phil says, "How's that working for you?"
Look at what Mexico used to own.
All the way up to the top of California,
but no Mexican is out there chanting,
"From the Rio Grande to Portland, Oregon."
Because they chose a different path.
They got real and built a country
    that's the world's 14th biggest economy now.
Because they knew the United States
wasn't going to give back Phoenix,
any more than Hamas will ever be in Tel Aviv.
One of the leaders of Hamas says...”save yourselves time and imaginary dreams
In a few years, Allah willing, you will have to discuss the situation in the region after Israel”
    I'm sorry, who's the one
    with imaginary dreams?
If I give you the benefit of the doubt and say your plan
    for a completely Jew-less Palestine
isn't that all the Jews should die.
What is the only other option?
They move. You move all the Jews.
Okay, I got to warn you,
    there's gonna be some kvetching.
You move all the Jews and we do this with what?
A fleet of trucks called Jew-haul?
And to where are we moving this entire country? Texas?
-Sure, they have room and I guess we could put the Wailing Wall on the border
and kill two birds with one stone….or we could just get serious.
    -Bill Maher

She loves her country and she is the first in her country to state the truth...Isreal is the light of the nations. This is a country that God has chosen for His chosen people the Jewish people. It is called the Holy Land for a reason.

BDS is freedom of speech; we live in a capitalist setting and are free to spend our income where we choose to. Why is that so controversial? Why is a small minority able to legislate on behalf of a non-US nation to mandate citizen not partake in the BDS movement?

The biggest burden on any country must be to live in peace. Unfortunately Israel has always been forced to defend itself against aggression from its warmongering neighbours ever since it was declared an independent sovereign state. Hopefully this will change in the future because Israel is here to stay.
