Literally what I was thinking. My family and friends are all Brummies and we can tell a Black Country accent a mile off. Seems that people either like to leave Birmingham out or when they do include Birmingham they always manage to get a yam yam to pretend to be a Brummie. Also get the feeling they're told to really ham it on to the point where it becomes a stereotype.

I live in West Wales and the Swansea accent is a very real Welsh accent. It might not be as intense as the stereotype but she has lots of the features of a first language Welsh speaker. I think it's more rural and western than Swansea though
