    I appreciate all you do for the sewing community, Peggy. With my pear shaped figure, thin legs are a welcome change!

    Dear Peggy I am so happy that I found you. I took pattern making and sewing at my local Community College it was such a frustrating experience. I learn to make patterns but they never fit. I am a African American woman with a full bust and full round butt. I could never get a clear explanation of how to adjust the fit. I was just told that I had a hard to fit body. The truth is that she didn't understand fit. I have learned so much from you. Your patterns look great, but they are just out my price range. I want too many of them. I will have to learn to draft my own. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

    In a word - EXCELLENT! For me, this has been one of the most informative videos on fitting pants I've watched on TH-cam. Your in-depth explanation of length, circumference, and depth makes sense. Now, fitting pants will be easier, and I won't feel intimated by all the lines on commercial patterns. THANK YOU!

    I love your videos so much! After taking many flat and draping classes and reading every major pattern-making book, your simple explanation of flat patterning vs draping FINALLY made it all click in my head and it's suddenly so simple. Thank you for staring your knowledge and I hope you continue to do so for a long time to come.

    They all end at the seams, and they are called pivot points, so that the pattern lays flat. I would recommend watching our webcasts at www.silhouettepatterns.com. Watch anything that is pant related and that will help you. The webcasts are free.

    Thank you. This is #200 Kate's Blouse and is currently our Pattern-of-the-Month, so that means it is on sale for just $9.99 when you use your code found on Facebook. Here is the link for the pattern - silhouettepatterns.com/html/patterns/p_200.htm

    You should make a template of the armhole you like, if they are the same, then you do not need front and back, if they are not, then you need front and back. Hope that clarifies.

    I like the idea of armhole templates for checking sizing on patterns,(episode 202) . Question I have is don't you need back templates as well since the front is smaller than the back armhole? Thanks.

    Loved the detail, I think BLACK IS ALWAYS HARD TO SHOW ON CAMERA. May I suggest you use lighter colors when stitching so the viewer can see the details and differentiation between seams; waistband and pant, etc. Thanks, loved your instruction.

    Is there a way to use a printed pattern, but alter it with your own measurements?

    I have pants that are loose when standing but tight around the knee and thigh when seated or lifting my leg and bending the knee. I haven't been able to find information on how to fix this.

      If you start with a pattern that's close to what actually fits, adjust in the areas that you need, ie where the fabric wrinkles. You only need to do the adjustments once unless your body dimensions change. You'll be so much happier with the clothing you make!

    I'm a sewing newbie and love your videos! They are so informative! Watching all the adjustments you made, how would you sew them to fix them without having lines going through the pants?

    • @zetta1054
      @zetta1054 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tawana Knox-Bowers
      You make the adjustments on your first pair, and unsew the seams to use your fabric (with the adjustments) as your pattern rather than the paper pattern. Your first pair is called the muslin, not because it is made out of muslin. Try to match the weave of your fashion fabric as much as possible. From a Peggy Sagers fan.

    is that hip dart going to be on both sides?

    • @marlettelouisin9805
      @marlettelouisin9805 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. If you take in a dart on the one side and the fit improves, you would divide that amount in half so that the fabric is distributed evenly. Remember, your patter is only one half of the entire garment.

    A yoke fits across the shoulders, a basque fits across the hips.
