I spent a long time thinking I needed something faster, Boomstick stayed on me about CCI SV and when I finally got some, it changed everything! This was way easier than I expected. We'll see what kind of groups we can get on paper soon. Sounds like you are having good luck with the Eley, I'd love to see you get out to 200 also, it was just easy!

@WalnutandSteel 300 really is pretty far. I have to remember, that group size is probably going to double, if not worse!😅 It just seems like 200 was a little easier than expected.
That's considered ULR for a 22lr!😅 It's going to happen one day. I just don't know what platform yet. 7mm-08, 30-06, or 22-250 are my real choices. I'm betting on 7mm-08. I've been to 300 with it. Once again, I asked how much bullet drop? Was told 13" held high, first pull and bam! That was using a 6× hunting scope. Cheap Leopold, no telling what will happen if I put a real scope on it!😲 I wish it was threaded. It really could use a break of some sort. May look into a clamp on.🤔
@chrislang5659 Yes, proper scope makes a world of difference. You are starting to understand why people say spend twice the cost of the rifle on the scope!! I've been able to iron sight with a pistol out to 100 yards, maybe I should try 200 sometime 🤣 always fun to push your boundaries and accomplish something new. Work your way out and see how far you can go!
@@chrislang5659 You have the right horsepower in those other rifles. It can be done. Might just take a little extra effort. But it feels great to break a shot and wait a second before you hear the ping on steel a long ways off!

I easily overthink, start some doubt, and mess up everything 🙄 That's when I revert to dialing while looking through the scope. Trying really hard not to do that and becoming comfortable with just using the turrets. I should probably throw the scope out of whack before starting every time just to get that practice in. The Riton and the Monstrum are the first scopes I've had where the turrets matched the reticle. Looking through scopes I've always moved the cross-hairs up to bring the shot down.🤔 Trying to break that habit!
@@chrislang5659 I hear you man! I am still learning all this precision stuff, also! Today was a good day for the rifles, but sucked for me as a shooter and time keeper! Think I am 100% done with timed challenges! They can kiss my ass, and sorry for the ass, but really! I am going to stay clear of anything with a time factor attached to it. I have enough stress everywhere else, I don't need it in the one thing I use to relieve stress haha! so we live and learn Chris. Hopefully for the better my friend! Let me know how it goes tomorrow when you get time!!!
Since we know what we are doing, soon we'll put some on paper and see what happens for real! I'm also interested in what the CCI SV will do. Plus, we need to get the Glenfield out that far. I'm really blessed to have the space to do it, but now I want 300. When will it ever be enough?🤔😅
@@chrislang5659 That shooting you did is for real. Small groups are good but they don’t always tell the whole story. Able to shoot at that distance and hitting the target is what really counts, that’s the challenge. I have always said that 597 is accurate, imagine that, a semi? Yes a semi! Critics say a semi is not as accurate as a bolt action, well, you just disproved that myth! You go my brother!🫡
