      Hey Miscast, I reckon you'd make a great book case diorama alleyway thing, you know the ones I'm talking about - the miniature alleyway inbetween your books. Love to see your spin on that. Bonus points for goblins.

      In case that you want to make a few more mandrakes how about some with worms or bites taken out of them. As for other sculpting ideas maybe a homuculus in a flask maybe with some alchemical apparatuses or a rat King would be disgusting but also cool and if you managed to turn it into a mini like the cultist it could make an interesting addition to the Nurgel army. A undead trilobite could be cool Fossilies of ancient marine life reanimated by a necromancer to swarm his foes a bit like the scarab swarms of the necrons.

    Those mandrakes have so much character. You can almost hear their grumpy little voices:
    "Luv footy. Luv me pot. Luv screamin'. Simple as."

    This is one of the best places on the Internet. Just such a good vibe, incredible creativity and such a high production quality to tie it all together. I'd watch you create anything as long as you were passionate about it.
    I also feel like this is a sculpting project that's something I could reasonably try as a first step into clay sculpting. You break down the steps so well. Keep doing your thing man, this is great.

    These look awesome! I think for people who might be circumspect of using actual dirt, I recommend coarse grinding some coffee and adding some random bits of stuff in it. From up close it'll smell like coffee, but hey, it works!

    To get your mandrakes to grow, you need to water them and make sure that their roots are deeply embedded in the terf.
    Those are cracking sculpts, and the detail on the pots is really cool. I like how you used the sculpey to colour the pieces. Your joy with your creations is so infectious. 🤗

    12:54 or just use a satin or mat finish varnish for plastic. The Citadel range is pretty reliable. Your sanding technique works well enough on its own too and sells the realism fair enough.
    15:14 a bit more spendy than garden dirt but less hectic than baking out biologicals is to get some course turf from a company like Geek Gaming Scenics or Woodland Scenics they make a light greenish color, and drop some brown paint in it. Give it a swirl, throw in your glue and presto-plasto: faux dirt. For the fine stuff, just use a bit of fine sand with the same paint and glue thinned down with IPA. To vary the texture of the 'dirt' mix in a bit of sand when you add in your PVA.

    • @Miscast
      @Miscast  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I wasn't clearer, I use the the spray adhesive because it has body to it, it makes a very fine dust over the leaves, rather than just dull down the shine, it creates texture. I experimented with varnishes as well, but the spray adhesive made the leaves look more natural imo.
      Yeah that sounds like a good dirt alternative! In the previous video I used coarse saw dust paint and sand and I liked the results of that as well.
      Thanks for the tips!
