When I was a kid the mall used to be bigger. In the 90's. It was never a large mall but it got smaller. It was a lot cooler in the late 80's, early 90's and late 90's. It really turned into a sad place. So many child hood memories from that mall and now it's gone.
I just pictured a post apocalyptic world with nothing but GNCs... a lady with a smile handing out protein shake samples while the surrounding terrain is a scorched waste land.
Some of the supplements they sell can be used as cutting agents for drugs, so if you're a drug dealer and you want to step on your drugs without anyone you know bumping into you, just hit up the GNC at your local dead mall.
I remember the Montgomery Ward store where I lived years back; it was a standalone store (the local mall had a Sears as an anchor). It was closed when Montgomery Wards went bankrupt and ended up being rebuilt as a medical office complex. Those electronics at the end were a blast from the past; I saw a few things I recognized from real life!
I remember Montgomery Ward use to model for my local store as a kid during there back to school fashion show . we still have are Montgomery Ward building here in my town it is now a church
I have a lot of memories of this mall, mostly concerning trips with my grandmother, who's long since passed. It's sad to see the place gone. The center section has been ripped out, and work continues on the rebuilding.
Power Gamer was one of my favorite stores ever. I loved the staff there and they had all kinds of import games and Pokemon cards. I used to go as recently as 2016 just to chat with the people there. As a kid we used to do field trips and birthday parties at Jeepers, which was like an indoor amusement park.
Local guy here. Glen Burnie Mall AKA Centre at Glen Burnie was my childhood mall. At the time my family lived in Baltimore. Glen Burnie was my moms favorite mall.
Great job!! I used to work at Montgomery Ward's in the 80's at the long gone & much missed Golden Ring Mall. Though that was my local mall, I had friends in Glen Burnie & I have fond memories of this mall as well. Your video is like a follow up to Dan Bell's & I appreciate this one last look at a place where I had a great time back in the day. You do an amazing job with your vids, glad to be a subscriber. Specifically, i am glad that you present the video review of these fading commercial centers in a straight forward manner. I hope your channel doesn't go the way Dan Bell has done. No disrespect intended to Dan bell, he and his team can style whatever way they want. I am referring to the way most of their productions endeavor to put a scary, spooky , and gouhly perspective on these places. I like the way your channel just takes us there and with video and narrative, you just give us the situation. Went there last week and all that remains is the hallway where Toy R Us used to be which is now an Ollie's. It's now an outdoor strip mall. Anchors are Ollie's, Target, and Burlington Coat Factory.

This was a popular mall back in the day. It had a lot of really good stores and it was always busy. The arcade was awesome back in the 80's. It's a shame that the mall is closed now. Once they tear it down they are building a new bowling alley,movie theater,and fitness center.
Our Montgomery Wards building is still there - repurposed as an office building. It closed in the late seventies as two new ones as new mall anchors were opening up in the area...

Montgomery Ward in that Ithaca NY mall was so creepy (last time saw open 1996). I really think the nearest MW, to Rochester, was in the boonies. perhaps Newark (yes there's a Newark in NY!!).

There's sort of a Ward's catalog business still going (it's complicated... the direct sales company that bought the brand name turned around and sold it to a catalog company I've worked for in the past, so you can get a Ward's catalog...but it's not really the same.)
Type A personalities are good for starting a company, but they’re terrible at maintaining a company over the long term. CEOs of companies like Sears and Montgomery Ward were run by type a personalities. Basically believing that they can get by with mostly hype and bravado. But, behind closed doors they lack analytic skills and ignore the sound advice of type B personalities who work for them. They tend to rely too much on marketing and borrow way too much money with their flamboyant and unrealistic thinking without doing the proper cost/benefit analysis. They don’t do customer surveys or research to find out changing customer buying habits and preferences before borrowing big money from banks and spending it on things that they aren’t sure are going to produce results. These are all traits of type A personalities and they bankrupt companies like Sears and Montgomery Ward.

Gnc is the cockroach of the retail world. it can be the literal Mall apocalypse and they'd still be there selling protein shake.

H.H.Gregg is an appliance and electronics store, not a grocery store. It expanded east into many of the closed Circuit City stores.
