Great playing Rob! The Träumeri interpretation is great. One of my favorite pieces of music. If you get a chance look at Vladimir Horowitz play that piece live in Moscow in 1986 and you will see the power music can have over a crowd. Love what you do, keep educating us. Steve
very pretty playing. That guitar sounds beautiful. One of the hallmarks of guitar, pre-1935, is downpicking. Alternate picking was largely a byproduct of amplification and the electro magnetic pickup. ( don't take my word for it, I learned that in an interview of Les Paul).
Lets see if you receive this: : I organized a Melody and İmprov Fest in İstanbul between 4th and 10th of April . Wish you come to show us novices the real REAL deal. Sorry no compensation for travel costs this time :(( Also YT Murat Taner in 70 doğumgünü (Birthday) showing my current humble arsenal-- if you have time :)))
Hi Rob, this is fantastic! Do you know if this method is being reprinted? This reminds me of the sort of music I heard around the house growing up, would be a lot of fun to work through this.
This is wonderful material Rob, and thanks so much for putting these performances (and the music) online. I would love to get my hands on a copy of the whole book, but can't find one anywhere.
Nice video, beautiful playing and wow, I'm just in love with that guitar! I think you're right, a steel string archtop works very well for this arrangements. I really enjoyed this! Thanks for posting
I'm 66 and these were the kinds of things my teachers were assigning me to play during my early teens. I learned how to read very well but completely missed out on the Beatles whom they considered "not real musicians" LOL I had the McNeil method and a ton of Mel Bay publications.
Excellent research and really nice playing!!I am really interested in that style of playing and i wanted to ask you where i can find these type of books and also if you can suggest some of them..Keep doing this great work, best wishes from Greece!!
Just do what I do: look on Ebay for vintage guitar books. I take a chance on some things, and sometimes I waste my money, but occasionally something turns up which I find interesting. More info on archtop website: archtopguitar.net
Lovely stuff, Rob -- both the material and performances thereof. ... And, though a devoted swing guitar enthusiast, I certainly wouldn't hold the absence of swing against these pieces.
Nice playing nice book, just a small question, my teacher has put me onto the William levitt modern method books I'm on volume 1 page 27 so far but I really think they are fantastic my strength and technique are coming along in leaps and bounds. What is your opinion on the method.
I’m hooked Rob - just love your videos. The guitar sounds beautiful - very lively warm and responsive . Really enjoy hearing you play these classic compositions on an Archtop. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Steve. I wasn't sure what the reaction would be to this video, but am happy that it has connected with quite a few people. All good. Thanks for your comment.
Very enjoyable, Rob. Thanks for helping to keep this music alive.
Cheers, Al!

Cheers, Steven. I absolutely love that concert, and his interpretation of Traumeri is pure magic! And no tremolo :-)
I will be forever indebted to your priceless advice.... Thank you Steven Thank you very much :))))))

I think the U.N. has something called Civilization's Treasure İndividual (liberal translation) ...... You guessed what I try to mean :))))

I haven't heard anything. I hope it does, as I wouldn't mind working through it again!

Sadly I lost mine - let a student borrow it, I think, and never saw him or the book again. Good luck finding one!
@@RobMacKillop1 How frustrating for you! If I ever find one, I'll make you a pdf :) That music has such character.
@@hughboyde Thanks, Hugh!
I liked them all. But I LOVED the last tune!!!!
Enjoyable to play, certainly. Glad you like it!

Cheers, Jeff, and thanks for the donation. Much appreciated! The Beatles? Never heard of them. McNeil, on the other hand…legend! 😂😎

This music is very nice i am glad to hear something from Arthur Black's method of 1933. Thank you so much 🙂
Cheers, Dennis! Good to know.
Rob, are you going to do some videos in the future about Arthur Black Guitar Method exercises?
Sorry, no plans to do so at the moment, but never say never.
Sorry for the typo -should be "gut " not "but".
Beautiful playing, and thanks for sharing the scores. I will try them out.
Cheers, Poul. I like exploring these old guitar books.
Utterly charming ! Another gem from this doyen of the romantic guitar be it on steel, but or nylon. Bravo!
Cheers, Mike. All music is romantic! :-)

It CAN mean a thing of it ain't got that swing! :-)
:-D
That mexican song was beautiful. Thanks for sharing it
Glad you liked it, Nacho. It sounds familiar to me. Can't think why.
It also rang a bell here. A teacher of mine is Mexican. I'll show her the song to see what she recognizes the melody
Oh, please let me know if you identify it. Cheers. Rob.
Rob MacKillop sadly she didn't recognize it. Anyway, great video, rob
Too bad. It's probably an original by Black, but based on something he heard. Thanks for asking.

It's a good method, but some of the pieces are really boring. I would supplement it with other pieces.
I don't have it. Is it the one written by Stanley Yates? If so, I can recommend it without even seeing it. If not, I don't know.
Really enjoyed! Fantastic playing Rob; and a great sounding archtop
Cheers. Derek. Love this guitar!
Absolutely beautiful playing Rob !!! You are truly a master. Vinny
Cheers, Vinny. Appreciated!
Really nice music!!! Great playing!!! I thing the sound of the guitar is getting better and better !!!
Thanks, Spiros!
Thanks, Spiros. I agree about the guitar!

Beautiful playing, I really enjoyed listening :) Your playing made the sun come out :)
Ah, such awesome power! But will I use it for good or evil? Haha.
Evil :D lol
I thought you'd say that! :-)
..now that I like.
Thanks Rob. This is beautiful music.
Cheers, Glen. I really enjoyed working through it.
soul and feel lives forever
Glad you like it. Rob
having a hard time imagining dancing a waltz to that Encinita Waltz
Don't lose sleep over it, Marianna ;-)
Yes. :)
Amazing… No other words
Than you, Vincenzo. Appreciated!
Cool!
Well played Rob, first song sounds a little bit as a Barrios etude to me;)
Yes, Humphrey, it has some of that flavour. It's nice repertoire.
btw, the Elferink guitar looks and sound great so we do not only export wooden shoe' s, but beautiful guitars too;)
Haha. Indeed!
Hi Rob would you be willing to share a pdf of the whole book?
Sorry, Luke, but I sold it quite some time ago. Good luck finding one.
@@RobMacKillop1 thanks for the response! Will keep searching!
Very tasty playing by the way!
