I was given one for free, the owner realized it was too much work, I am ecstatic! She's 3 months and perfect with my 2 other lil pups and a cat. They are great and loyal watch dogs as well. I am in need of a watchdog at 65. What a blessing she is and her name was and is Dora, meaning a gift from God.

We just got a Pomsky puppy two weeks ago. Pretty much everything you mentioned in the video is true. She is destructive, she loves to chew, she loves to dig, she loves to escape, and she requires constant attention. Luckily, we've had many dogs before, including rambunctious ones, and we knew what to expect, so we were prepared for it. But the cute looks are deceiving. The only thing is that our dog loves everybody, including strangers. Everything else was bang on!

I've had a pomsky for about two years now and I couldn't imagine life without him. He's extremely playful and lovable, not to mention talkative. The intelligence of pomskies is never to be underestimated. My little guy knows his name as well as the names of everyone in the house. Whenever he wants to go outside to go to the bathroom he will sit in front of you, sneeze, and then make a yawn-like bark that sounds like he's saying "oooouuuuuut". It's adorable to say the least. My mom often complains about his size although I did do my research and told her ahead of time that they can get to the size of a medium dog. He's almost 40 lbs and is definitely a lap dog despite his size. Frankly, I love his size, he's like a big teddy bear that I get to cuddle and curl up on the couch with.

I have one, 15 months young. He's my first dog and i'm glad I got a trainer.. he's so easygoing and loveable but would be too hyper without proper training. Doesn't take much but make sure you do it!! Train him/her and walk him/her twice a day and they will be like an angel. He sleeps all day, never chews things and is so gentle and friendly with children and other animals. Everyone wants to know what his breed is and they laugh when I tell them haha

i have a second gen pomsky, she is my first puppy and honestly i cannot imagine life without her. first few weeks were hard as ive never owned a dog before let alone such a high energy breed (real puppy blues) but i followed training, built a relationship, made sure she is healthy and now she is the life of the home. this video is absolutely right, please please pleaseee do your research before you bring any precious life into your home. Wolfy (my pomsky) is one of the sweetest most beautiful thing ive ever had the privilege of getting to know, kinda makes me tear up as im writing this, but i do have to mention she is a high maintenance dog. you need to make sure your entire family is on board and invested or else its simply not fair for the puppy. anyways, if you do decide to get one, i can guarantee you will fall in love with it, but again please do your research. dogs are simply our pets but for them, we are their entire world. It breaks my heart to see such precious gifts from god end up without homes and in such terrible situations. :(

Refreshing to see someone take a responsible approach to learning and applying what they have learned about this cross breed. Since I tend to be a fan of Spitz breeds, friends ask me about Pomsky as they look so "cute" as puppies. When I am done, most decide not to get one as they didn't realize the amount of effort (as you put in) to get the best rapport with their dog.

Yes, I was one of the owners unprepared. I went into the shelter looking for a rather more docile breed like a lab, who I can take hiking, but couldn’t keep my eyes off my (now) dog. I’m only familiar with full breeds, so I never knew of such mix. Lots of trial and error, and he still a puppy. It’s hard to get everyone on board in my family, so I try to spend time with him more so he’s more aware of what I teach him. He is definitely a handful but I’m a good way, I guess 😂

I have a first gen pomsky and its been a whole year and I did not expect how energetic she would be, she either is super high energy or very tired and is sleeping for half the day. Not destructive when left alone, she just gets bored and goes to sleep. Learned a lot during the experience, if you plan on getting one be prepared to spend a lot of time with them and to be aware of the extremely high energy they give off. Recommended to have a good amount of space too!

Spot on! High maintenance but sooo worth it! My 5 month old female, Piper is honestly a dream puppy when it comes to potty training and sleeping arrangements. She sits by the door when she needs to potty and wakes me up at 7 every morning, after sleeping a full night through. The only thing I will say about breeders is....do your research, make sure they deworm their puppies and get their proper puppy shots, and offer a health guarantee! When you spend that much, there shouldn't be ANY surprises! I think Piper might end up being a larger Pomsky... the breeder estimated she'd get about 25 pounds but at 5 months she's 16.5 lbs already! I can't find a harness to properly fit her head/chest LOL If you are a homebody like me, this breed is perfect. She gets my full attention every day, gets along great with my 2 cats and even cuddles with them occasionally! Truly a life changing animal ❤

My 20 pound pomsky is all black with little white toes. She is so cute and knows it! Leash training has been the hardest, because she wants to explore, is stubborn, and ignores me (sigh.) But she loves to go running with me. Unlike a lot of other pomskies, she isn't a digger or a chewer. In fact, she doesn't like chew toys or playing tug much at all. She loves her squeaky plushies and trots around the apartment with them in her mouth. I have to brush her often, but she can go without a bath for months and smell fine. Oh, and she hates being held, which is a shame, because she's so fluffy!

  • @meredith3415
    @meredith3415 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I have a Pomsky I got from a couple who were unable to care for such a high energy puppy. She's gorgeous, about 25-30lbs, and very energetic. When I got her, she was 5 months and completely neglected in the training department, which was hard at first. For a few weeks I had second thoughts thinking that I made the wrong decision and she was too much even for me. But with hard work, discipline, and love she developed into a great companion. However, she's not really "calmed" down much and I don't see it happening. These dogs need a lot of time and attention and if you don't have time for them, they are not right for you.

We have a Pomsky. She will be 1 yr old on 4-10-20. She is an amazing little girl. She is currently 26.7 lbs. She has trained up easily and well but definitely head strong just like our Huskies. We have owned a Pomeranian in the past and we definitely see pom traits in her as well. She loves to eat but we are very strict with her diet. She is super healthy. Unlike huskies she is a barker which is very Pomeranian, however her bark is deep and sounds so much bigger than she is. She is an absolute joy. She gets along great and is inseparable from our 8 yr old Husky and our 2 1/2 yr old Shiba Inu.

I have a Pomsky, and I can tell you some things that i learned having him. Before you adopt a Pomsky though, please make sure you can care for it.
They are very high maintenance; they need a lot of exercise and things to keep them occupied. They are difficult to train; mine is super intelligent so would often get bored with training (always had to spice things up) and is very stubborn (if he doesn’t want to train anymore, there was no changing his mind haha). Last, the shedding season is rough; you need to groom daily and bathe regularly, or they can leave fur tumbleweeds in your house if you don’t keep up with it. Mine also had two shedding seasons a year where he completely blows out his coat (seriously you can make another dog with all the fur that comes off him during this time).
My Pomsky, was very anxious and coy when we first got him, he was afraid of everything. He has definitely grown out of it a bit, but I wouldn’t say he’s super sociable, although he gets along with my family and my other dog just fine.
Last but not least, he is so lovable, loyal and quirky. Also the fluffiest fluffernutter ever. ❤️🥰

He sheds A LOT i need to vacuum daily and brush him every 2 days. He is very smart thou so it makes training a bit easier but he is extremely stubborn so a lot of patience is required! If you’re looking for a lap dog i don’t suggest this breed as he’s very independent, but can be clingy at times. He’s adorable and super loyal and good with other animals but you do have to put in work and patience! Hope this helps anyone who’s looking for answers.

We got lucky with him cause he has stayed relatively small. But he is one of the sweetest, most well behaved, cuddly pups. Although he doesn't always get along the best with other dogs we are still working on that. But we adore him and we're so happy to have him in our lives. He is very energetic and playful but he's also so stinking cute. He has one eye that is half brown half blue and the other is brown. We couldn't be happier with him.

We are up at by 7 am and at the dog patk by 8:15. It helps to have a routine schedule. I found that early activity is best and a late night walk. She is also a helper dog. Our girl is 2nd gen pomsky.
She is verry playful, smart and a quick learner.
⚠ Be careful what you are getting yourself into. They are bred from huskies. Keep in mind that they aren't only a cute ball of fur or couch patato. If they are not excesised and challanged enough they get bored and destructive and turn into houdini. They need a firm leader and training and can be stuborn. They are highly pack oriented, not a breed to keep alone while at work + at night when you are sleeping. They will get bored, destructive, lonely, ... . Also when getting f1 you can't presict things like markings, hight, fur, life span, ... . This breed is to "new". Concider if the breed meets your needs before buying this cute pup. Not an active person, not at home a lot, nit having enough space for running, ... ? Maybe look into another breed.
Provide your dog with what they need, don't expect them to provide in your needs.
Still want a pomsky? Great! Enjoy your fur-friend :)!

We have a Pomsky did buy her from a pet store very loveable, energetic, loves to be told she a good girl. Loves her treat (cherrios), and we tease her telling her she can't eat the kitty. Cat and her are 10 lbs each cat is older and front claws declawed. They love each other. When I take her out on leash she does the lunge rope. Great exercise. It the fenced in yard as a race track.

May I ask about your experience introducing your Pomsky to the cat? Thats kind of my main issue ATM... Would love to get a pomsky, but not if its gonna cause WW3 to break out as I've got a few cats already...

We've always had cats and dogs I'm afraid of the cats getting hit by a motor vehicle so their front claws are declawed. They are strictly indoor. They just seem to play with each other.

My pomski is 3urs old and I had him for 2 yrs. The first yr was ruff, lol. Chewed up pretty much anything that was left out. My daughter's shoes, 2 remotes, inhaler, bra, and a hose, Even on my blinds and walls. Luckily he's cute and a little goofy too. I didn't want to give up on him. They didn't mention hard to train, stubborn, talking back and all the ooòhs and awes you'll get. I love my Jax 🐶. Btw, he weighs about 40 lbs, he's chubby. His fur is black and white with a little brown on back of legs, and blue eyes. His back goes to my knees.

I just got a pomsky couple months ago. She is 6 months old weighing around 10.5lb. She is super intelligent. I've noticed she just observes everything. Gets along with my husky and two chiweenies. As well as my 3 cats. She can be a little hyper but she plays well with my other dogs. I've done some training with her and she is really getting the hang of commands already. Potty training went well. Much better then my chiweenies lol.
Each one of my dogs have their own little quirks. My favorite one with my pomsky is that she will lick you but she stops mid lick for a couple of seconds before finishing lol.

May I ask how was introducing the pomsky to your 3 cats? I've got several felines living here as well & would love to adopt a pomsky -- noticed one of the "local" shelters has a 7month old pup... But the cross-species issue is kinda bugging me... How'd you introduce them? Any issues? Tips/advice?

I have a pomsky and she just turned a year old. She is exactly as described. You need to have patience and prepare to do a lot of praising. They are very proud and EXTREMELY stubborn. Now on to the pros of having a Pomsky. The may be small but they have big attitudes and are very spirited animals. Extremely smart, sometimes too smart. They don't do well with yelling and you should never hit any dog. I can talk to her in a stern voice when she acts up and that stops her behavior immediately. You have to be consistent and stay consistent because again they are extremely smart. Make rules and don't sway, even if they give you the cutest face you ever saw and roll over for a tummy rub. They know how to work you over well. I've owned a Samoyed Husky in the past and a Pomeranian and they tend to have more traits of the husky. So prepare yourself and enjoy their spirit and the bond will come. Once you have this, you'll have the sweetest ornery dog ever. We spend hours laughing until we cry at her silly antics. Also they tend to be very social so if you don't have much time to spend with them it will be a nightmare. They need lots of TLC and I would recommend someone older and well vetted in dogs to consider this breed. She is constantly with me, my 19 year old twins, or my husband and HATES being alone. They get a bit anxious so I've left her alone (crated) once and she was completely upset all day and very clingy afterwards. So when you plan a vacation I would look into pet friendly hotels or leaving them with someone the trust completely. We love and enjoy every minute with her and is family. I don't like referring to her as my dog. She is my baby girl. They are SO worth it if you just have the patience and make sure you stick to your guns on the rules. I raised twins and this dog had me wishing i was chasing my two 2 year old twins again when she was around the 6 month mark. She was a handful and thankfully we all took our roles. She's very loved and very spoiled.

Our family just got a male pomsky. He is 5 months old, we got him at approximately 3 months old. He is extremely smart and already learned sit. Shake hands, roll over, fetch high five, and dance. He is very energetic and gets into trouble. We are all in love with Shadow. We have 2 boys 14 and 4 and its challenging. Our boy shadow does enjoy digging and chews on everything as he is a puppy. Thankyou so much for your content so informative. Please keep it coming!!! I was born and raised in Chicago, at 50 I just relocated to vegas. I'm worried about the extreme heat in summer here. I still have a grown daughter in Chicago and maybe I should think about spending summer in Chicago. I miss home so much!!!

Instead of getting a designer breed like the pomskey, as they were created solely for aesthetic purposes, get an American eskimo, Alaskan klee kai, pomeranian ect. Designer breeds are not typically very stable in temperment. If your super stuck on a designer breed, either rescue or get a later gen dog that will help with temperment.

Our pomsky is more like lots of husky.. adopted from a shelter at 11 months old, we are training him to be kind to small children and small dogs as we have both. He spends most of his day running in the yard with our other Husky and sleeping in the office while I work. He's settling in well otherwise. I should mention he is my 6th Husky in my lifetime, so we know exactly what to expect and the best ways to train the Husky side of him. He's also as tall as my Husky but we were told his mom was a pomsky

And trust me, it won’t be any less because you think the youtube comment must be exaggerating, this is what my Pomsky is costing me. Please be responsible.

I strongly disagree with the fact that Pomskies are difficult to train. As an owner of two pomskies, someone who has had various breeds growing up, and in researching their traits, most reputable sources would disagree that they are difficult to train. They are incredibly intelligent and responsive to training. With the right training method based on the personality of the dog, they can easily be trained.
