I can speak 8 languages and I started learning to speak other languages in 1st grade and when I got to 3rd grade I was pretty good at Spanish and I just started learning more from there on. I speak English ( I don't usually count it), spanish, french, Arabic, Japanese,Chinese, Russian, Portuguese. I am still working on my Russian and Japanese cause I was working on both of them at the same time cause I wanted to see if I could learn 2 at the same time but then I ended up taking a break but although its pretty fun learning new language. I have a goal to learn 15 languages total. I'm going to my 2nd year of high school

For what I know about California, one can find some Native American communities and learn their language (like, Yurok), and also the Mandarin is widely used here, as well as some other languages with rather big communities (Tagalog among them).

Respectfully as an arabic speaker, if you're speaking fusha to native speakers, you can't really claim you speak arabic. It's like speaking Spanish to a speaker of Portuguese, they'll be able to comprehend most of it, but they won't be able to reply in Spanish. Anyway, cool videos as always.

Ahh.. that’s not the same at all. All Arabs learn and listen to Fusha Arabic growing up.. Also Spanish and Portuguese are two different languages, while Fusha Arabic and other local dialects are merely dialects/accents, not a different language.

Papiamentu is a mix of Dutch, Capeverdean/Bissau-Guinean Portuguese creole and Spanish yet I couldn't understand a single word that she said, written Papiamentu is easier to understand, the only language that I don't speak but can understand a few things if we exclude the other Romance languages is the Tetum language, an Austronesian language with a sizeable Portuguese influence.

Respectfully as an arabic speaker, if you're speaking fusha to native speakers, you can't really claim you speak arabic. It's like speaking Spanish to a speaker of Portuguese, they'll be able to comprehend most of it, but they won't be able to reply in Spanish. Anyway, cool videos as always.
But isn’t that the best dialect to be able to communicate with most Arabic speakers ? If he learns one dialect, doesn’t that limit the amount of Arabic speakers he can communicate with in the world?
@@BeastorFail not at all. The hardest to understand is the North African dialects like Moroccan darija due to the French and Amazigh influence on the language, but other than those dialects most dialects are mutually intelligible.

Ahh.. that’s not the same at all. All Arabs learn and listen to Fusha Arabic growing up..
Also Spanish and Portuguese are two different languages, while Fusha Arabic and other local dialects are merely dialects/accents, not a different language.

I’d say the most mutually intelligible would probably be a very generic Saudi or Levantine dialect.. maybe Egyptian dialect as well but Egyptian is really intelligible because of how common it is in music/film/etc.. not because it’s actually the most “simple”.

If he tried this with me, I wouldn't get the 20 €, I only speak Portuguese, English and Spanish, in this order of proficiency. Papiamentu is a mix of Dutch, Capeverdean/Bissau-Guinean Portuguese creole and Spanish yet I couldn't understand a single word that she said, written Papiamentu is easier to understand, the only language that I don't speak but can understand a few things if we exclude the other Romance languages is the Tetum language, an Austronesian language with a sizeable Portuguese influence.
