I am here just to listen to his marvelous flute mastery. My high school years were so magical and happy when I had the privilege to play the flute! I am getting it back out 34 yrs later…. Trying to revive my playing.
There are no words...about the ammount of technic expression, musicality, has this great performer! Sure one of the greatests flutists of all classical history of the flute! Great respect!! Thank you Mr Emmanuel!
The emotion in the playing of this solo is truly beautiful... it's rich, clear and speaks to the heart... exactly what the piece was written to convey.
“One of the few mistakes that I allow myself and of course it never happened again.” , “You don’t have to play perfect, you just have to play convincingly.” I love him going flexing just like that so casually. Just hope I can do that too one day.. And no wrong opinion I’m so with this lingling.
Absolutely BRILLIANT. I think the first run is usually rushed and doesn't add to the languidness of the entire work. I so love how this master flutist discusses and demonstrates.
Wow wow wow il me manque des mots pour décrire tous ce que sens . It is REALLY playing with a pro. Funny coincedence: this video-clip was published excactly on my 49th birthday and it is my all time favourite flute solo ! Thank you so much, Monsieur Pahud ! Cheers from Berlin Andreas Mazur
Between Galway, Rampal, and Pahud, Pahud seems to play with the keys the hardest. Sometimes I feel like he's slamming the keys into the tone holes, which makes me wonder how often he needs a re-pad. XD But seriously, his tone and sound is impeccable, regardless of how loudly he slams the keys.
EnterTheFatrix Tom Nyfenger should be on that list. Instrumentalists usually don’t make me cry and this guy did it in a few notes. At the time, I’d never heard an instrument sound more like a voice than when he played. Noisy fingers, tho.
Technology is very different now. I suspect the mics now pick up every little thing including the force e place on the keys. The tone and sound that linger after he is done with the phrase is just amazing.
QUE FACILIDADE QUE GÊNIO ENCONTREI PAHUD NA SUÍÇA EM FRIBOURG EM 1988 ENQUANTO EU TOCAVA NA ESTAÇÃO DE TREM ELE PASSOU E BRINCOU COMIGO EU TOCAVA 313 MOZART EU ERA UMA CRIANÇA MEU DEUS .ELE ESTAVA COM O MAESTRO THÉO KAPSOPOLOS DA ORQUESTRA JOVEM DE FRIBOURG .COMO É O DESTINO FAZ MUITO TEMPO.
"The weirdest harmonies of the piece". That is so true. most Ravel passages are weird, it's just about finding out which part is weirder. This is however also what makes his music so "modern". These harmonies creates something that is so "right" when analyzing them as whole passages. The melody lines are one thing, but his harmonies though.
He's currently playing a gold Haynes flute. Not sure if that's the one he's using in this video. I should live so long to get my hands on a flute of that caliber. A man can dream.
I'd say my two favorite flute players are Pahud as well as Elaine Shaffer (from the 1970s). Each has a totally different sound, but each is the embodiment of the instrument. If you have a chance to hear Shaffer's Bach Flute Sonatas, they will inspire you as much as Pahud. Think: the "roundness and evenness" of her sound. th-cam.com/video/KpNONpZuquA/w-d-xo.html
atheobe Then maybe you should try listening instead of running your mouth, and maybe you’d eventually be up there playing this piece rather than talking about it in youtube

Couldn't agree more!
Simply the best flautist every. No one comes near to Pahud
Hearing him live once is literally on my bucket list 🙂
Do whatever it takes to hear him! It is unforgetable.
Audrey M I saw Emanuel play at the Sydney opera house when I was 16 he is my dads wife’s brother we went to a restaurant previously ! Amazing memories
I've already heard him twice. Even have met him in person. He's a delight to hear and talk to.
@@surthum So he's a nice person in real then? 😏🤞🏼
@@1Flyingfist He is, indeed. Very charming and nice.
To be so proficient & skilled as to manipulate every single note with different shades & colours of sound, wow, amazing Mr. Pahud...

Great musicians always make it look so easy.

The man with the golden flute 🪈
No one teaches this better or plays it as beautifully as Pahud = in my opinion.
Nice full, round and concise tonal quality. The different registers are extremely consistent.
Omg. He is so understanding the music, technique and how to demonstrate and...
What a gift you are as Ravel too
I like how his right hand floats up and away with the music.
That's what an Artist is!

He also probably plays with straubinger pads which are known to be slightly louder when pressed down

Amazing advice only two minutes in about auditioning ❤❤❤
Beautiful! I am in love with these flute lessons! :)

this is sooo much helpful thank you!! I don't have a lot of flute classes and I can't afford masterclasses
Mr Numerobis you don’t pay for masterclasses usually
😍😍😍😍😢😢😢 Obviously I'll never be at this point, but I so want to recapture my flute technique, love and my tone. Thank you Emanuel.
One day I will here him live.....
Amazing!

Pahud: except when I messed up the scale during the Berlin Philarmonic auditions *plays scale*
Me: *hears a perfect scale* 👁👄👁
Pahud is amazing
His scales are too clean and even to ever hear a "mistake"
I play it e natural: *plays a perfect scale*
Ofc, I messed up in my Berlin audition, and it sounded like this: *plays a perfect scale*
The pianist had THE experience of her lifetime, especially 9:34 being transformative!
I'd like to have his tone, even if my technique would get stucked forever in place... 🙂
Good evening folks, What is the flute used here? where could I get the same? Thank you.
Beautiful taught. :) (:
could someone tell me the name of the pianist? please.

i wish i was Pahud. that is all.
Exotic and oriental in an orient that only exists in a mythical world, a world of sensual dreams, more French than Greek.
Qu’est-ce qu’il est charmant
what flute is he using?
Godwin Dizon I think he played on his 14k Brannen with the 14k Dana Sheridan hj in this video

@John Daker LMAO
@@Ron239 And this flute would NOT make you sound identically….

비판적 관점에서 겸공도 봐야지 어준이도 균형감각을 잃지 않는다.
Earth is flat and unmoving.
i don't like Ravel but this opus

You talk too much !
He's teaching. Let him teach.
You talk too much too.
