So happy that Yamagata is chosen for the winter care package! It’s so beautiful in winter and all the food sounds super delicious!! Big thankyou to Satoshi for introducing Shinichi and us to this bountiful experience! 😍
I had an elderly Japanese neighbor, she was surprised when I grew mitsuba, burdock (goba) and shungiku and a big row of multicolored chrysanthemums for her..I miss her, she moved away when she stopped teaching Japanese in the high schools here to be w her family.
Oh, the Imoni looked scrumptious! And, I'd love to try Fu as a meat alternative. Such a wonderful variety of comestibles grow in Yamagata and the cuisine really reflects that. Hearty, rich food in the cold months; fresh, light food in the warm months. And, cherries! 👏My favorite fruit, other than mangoes fresh from the tree. Thank you Satoshi for acquainting Shinichi, and us, with beautiful Yamagata and its bounty!💙💚
Fun video to see foods from the countryside. Tourists may not get a chance to visit outside of Tokyo, but can still try foods from different parts of Japan.
This is what I love in Japan; there are so many regional specialities which makes traveling even more fun. The food looks delicious. I would love to try the fu. And I bet that this imoni is way better then what I can make because they use these regional ingredients.
Burdock, or gobo is thought to be the inspiration for Velcro..! The seed pods are covered with little projections with a hook at the end..you can throw them (they’re super light, not a danger by any means, lol..) at ppl, or your dog and they stick instantly, so you can see how easily the plant spreads. I loved studying aikido, especially the softer style of Seishiro Endo Sensei, his videos are so inspiring..you guys seem like ideal companions to spend a weekend with touring around Japan..I really enjoy your videos!
Love your videos! 😊❤ Watching Satoshi's memories come flooding back just from tasting the food was amazing to watch and be a part of. Thank you for introducing me to this beautiful gem of a city. Yamagata is definitely on my list of places to visit while in Japan. ❤
Everything looked so delicious. 🥢 I love gobo! You’re both blessed, to be able to do what you do…⛩ Wish I had the expendable funds, to purchase your special Kokoro package; someday. Take care, & stay safe Shinichi & Satoshi!
1:18 the yellow labeled bag looks like a type of Jerusalem artichoke, or sunchoke. Those are originally from the Americas. They're related to sunflowers.
Just curious. Does Japan have fried tofu or firm tofu cousines? All I saw was the soft tofu and served as is. Kinda disapointing as tofu is delisous when fried and laced with teriyaki sauce. Is it lost in history or never was a thing in Japan ?

Aw, you can tell that Satoshi is excited to talk about his hometown's food!
Loved hearing more about Satoshi and his hometown foods ❤
Great to see Satoshi’s enthusiasm at the foods with so much nostalgia attached to them (and love his glasses!).

Yamagata truly has a bounty of produce -and so much more. We had planned to visit this year to film but have decided to go next year instead/

Looking great guys ❤❤❤❤

Coming to Tokyo for the first time next week. I may need to go get some of that sugared senbei from the Yamagata specialty store!
very nice looking food!!! 😋🍲
When will you travel to yamagata in winter so you can show us all the hearty soups and veggies.
I love Japan. i will visit one day. The love of my life, Takeda Shingen, used to live in Japan 😂
Oh I had tons of Taro in my hot pot tonight. lol
んめそ〜!When are you guys coming to Shonai/Sakata? 待ってます!
Salivating at the sight of that brown sugar rice cracker. I wonder if it might be duped as a brown sugar puffed rice Krispie?

10:42 awkward picnic
That's the most expensive beer I've seen in Japan
