Thanks little man. I just bought a second hand 2013 model. That was super helpful. I m an underground miner from Australia. You are helping people all over the world. You ll go a long way in life kid
Honestly I’ve been looking at a lot of videos on messenger and as I’m thinking about buying one and you did probably the best Job of explaining this motors operations. Good job young man I bet your parents are proud of you. Keep up the good work.
I like the fact you have no music and a no-nonsense attitude to reporting everything I would ever want to know about this motor. The filming is near perfect and not jumpy and you just did an excellent job of reporting (and I mean you should be reading the news one day). I can't think of a thing you left out and you put a lot of grown-ups to shame. I have just come from another outboard video where the opening scene was flying over a field of cows - then loud and inexplicable music - followed by rap music and later on they remembered why they were there - and showed the outboard motor. You are so in tune with what we want to see and the actual starting and gear-shifting showed me how easy it is to operate. Congratulations - cracking job!
I just spent 5 hours looking at all the mods trying to decide what to do to mine the search ended here! Thanks for the best review on you tube! wanna see more....
Not even going to lie, was going to brush you off because I thought a kid doing a review was a gimmick but honestly kid, you did an excellent, excellent job. Well done.
How have you found the 9.8 4 stroke? Im looking to replace our 2 stroke 9.8 with the 4 stroke version. Interested to hear from a sailboat user on how it was, also what length is your boat?
I just bought one a few days ago and I'm excited to try it out, I hope you are satisfied with the Motor. And good review ,you did better than older guys . God bless you...
Great job jrbassin. Just one comment and I know everyone calls them "motor" when in reality, a motor is electric, runs on electricity! In this case you are running gasoline, therefore it is an engine because it uses combustion to produce kinetic motion, in other words, to turn the mechanics inside the engine around moving the prop. Thanks for posting this awesome video jr. and I agree with @Cutlass_Rudd. Well done!
Nice... I have the old NISSAN 9.8. It was stored since it was bought by Its previous owner so its practically brand new. I will use it on my dinghy and as a kicker on my 26' SKIPJACK! Nice video young man! Cheers from Huntington Beach California.
Tohatsu and Mercury 9.9 are the same motor built in the same Tohatsu factory in Japan. Different badging, and the Mercury has the F/R on the tiller handle. Tohatsu builds all of the smaller Mercury motors, up to 115hp I think. The Tohatsu 9.8 is the same motor as the 9.9 Tohatsu / Mercury, just with a carburetor instead of EFI.
A car has coolant in it which cools the engine. Water can also be used as coolant in warm climates. Since a motor is in the water, it uses the water from the lake, pond or whatever body of water you are in to cool the engine. When the engine is turned off, the remaining water in the engine comes out and that’s what that water is.
Thanks little man.

Little dude's got a TH-cam career ahead of him with these kind of detailed videos!
You did a better job reviewing this than any on the 20 I could find

Absolutely, answered anything I was wondering and then some 🤙🏻

Very impressive review young man! I have the two stroke version of this engine which is old and not very eco friendly but great fun!
The non eco friendly ones are better 😂
@@jrbassin they’re certainly lighter! 26KG’s for mine v’s about 40 for the four stroke
little dude knows his stuff
Hello
Was looking how to use the tilt fonction. You explained it very well ! Thank you for the review
This video alone should be at a million views and over thousand of subcribers. The only video I found helpful and it was from a kid.
Good man. You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. Just bought a sailboat with one of these on the back. Great tutorial and review

Straight to the point and the camera angles are perfect.
That was a great review. You went over a lot of things others have missed on their reviews.

Picking mine up on Friday.

Pretty cool rig! Tillers are fun little machines.
Great job 👏
Great job kid. Keep it up
Looks nice. I have a 15 foot gheenoe. I’m determining weather to get a 8/9.9 hp Mercury or a tohastu 9.8.
Nice
get a 9.9 and call it a day... it will last you in the long run
Tohatsu makes the smaller hp Mercs now

Mine is a tiller 7.5 hp But last year the shifter got striped and it went crazy and wouldn’t stop but I got it fixed
Nice! Does it still run good?
@@jrbassin yeah me and my dad fixed it
GOOD BOY! 😊
Very useful
Good work kid...
Good overview
saya mau cari belting temeng tohatsu 8 pk
nice.. how do you pick it up and transport it ?
Bring the boat into shallow water and take the motor off
Is this smith lake
No
Sweet! Might need to get one myself! But I’m broke...🤔😕
It would make your canoe FLY!
@@jrbassin yep!
Nice vid
Thanks
Nice review. Maybe I don't need electric start. If a kid can pull start it an old man should be able to also. Could be your a strong guy though.
The cord is not very hard to pull.
Good job kid.. but school is more important ...👍👍👍😂
😂
Why is it leaking
A car has coolant in it which cools the engine. Water can also be used as coolant in warm climates. @@jrbassin thank you so in simple terms it’s the hot water shooting out
