Duterte calls for death penalty: ‘An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth’

In his second State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Monday, President Rodrigo Duterte called on Congress to pass the death penalty on drug-related offenses, insisting that in the Philippines a criminal who took one’s life should pay for the offense with his own life.

Anti death penalty advocates say that death penalty should be abolished because it doesn't deter criminality ( their favorite line), but even jails don't deter crimes, so if they follow their logic they should demand government to also abolish jails, they don't make sense. I'm Italian living & working in Singapore, I admire it's death penalty law, Philippine government should see the wisdom to reimpose it. Criminals are a menace & danger to us they deserve death by being killed.

I'm agree on Death Penalty but we need na Strong Justice system ,Because If our justice system is Weak ,Mahirap na Bka Ang Mabitay e Inosente pla ,kaci ndi naman Lahat ng nasa kulugan porket naka Kulong ,e may sala tlga Iba dyan Inosente or d kaya Nakapatay dahil self defense ,kaya For me ok lang death penalty pero palakasin muna ang justice system naten dito sa Pinas and i think nagagawa naman na ni Beloved President Duterte yan ,napapalakas nya ang justice system naten .

John Lester Margallo I mean, that's not true. People get falsely convicted all the time, too be acquitted decades later. If the government is wrong, and there is the death penalty is in place, then who gets punishment for MURDERING that innocent life?

Simple lang yan. Ang magsinungaling isama sa execution. Mas maingat tau ngaun pag judge. At sa death penalty walang mayaman o mahirap. Isama nyo sa libingan ang mga pera ng mayayaman na kriminal.batas ay batas.
