normani has a new team. her old manager (brandon silverstein) did a lot of damage. so she’s working brand new. y’all just gotta enjoy the music and know a lot is being repaired.
How do we know this
I think Silverstein had no experience and she being his 1st client, didn't help. From what I read he was under Jay Z's company so he may have thought that they would be more helpful. He's now in a new area of entertainment management and no longer manages clients.
@@Wendy17719 this makes sense then. I understand Normani’s struggles personally with her parents and stuff, however the rollout itself does not make sense which can’t be all Normani
@@superbambam1031there’s footage of him going bananas on some black female artist
And Brandon Silverstein is only 32 . White privilege and nepotism and higher up connects that’s all ima say . If Normani was a sexy redd you know this album would’ve been out 2 years ago
She needs to fire her PR team and start fresh... I hope she can fall back in love with making music after this bad experience.
The PR team thinks that not releasing a promotional single up until a month (?) before her album release works like any artist would. It worked on Billie tho but not Normani
@@PixelEmpiricalit worked on billie cause she had an extremely successful album before that and have fans begging for new music. normani is a relatively “new artist” in terms of albums and their sales
why not just blame her too ??
yall been saying this for 5 years...
No but I agree. We don't have a proper 1:59 music video, there's not enough singles. The album has no visualizer NOR lyrics video. I'm confused with this rollout but at least she appeared in interviews nowadays.
Honestly, the fact that there wasnt a build up is refreshing. Its a dopamine hit of Normani, and she’s begging us to hit a high! This album is so interesting, I really like it. Honestly, I could see Justine Skye having a moment similar to this. Normani is such a doll too, so I think she deserves her 10’s.
They stay hatin
Justine Skye DID have a moment like this; her album Space & Time SLAPS
@@KYLE-WDZ exactly!!! My fave by Justine is Maybe.
I’ve been saying LIGHTS ON IS A BOP!!! It’s going to be one of her deep cuts.
Please Zach! Normani is so flexible and agile. She would kick someone smooth in their face
If you really listen to the lyrics, the album does flow very well. The whole premise of the album is Normani dealing with someone who is emotionally unavailable, but choosing not to lose her confidence. It’s definitely an album you’ll love the more you play it.
Side note: Zach, where is your Ep that you’ve been speaking of since 2022??
I just know Normani do not live for you😂But I do think you're her sharpest critic and in that (QUIET AS ITS KEPT) her biggest ally. Cause as long as her name is in your mouth, its in our heads💕
I have to agree wtih all of what you said and I too was like, where the videos because SHE is elevated when you see her MOVE
she's not gonna pop until she goes independent like tinashe.
She's under a label and team that dont GAF about her!
Insomnia stans rise🌟
Distance made me cry...
All Yours, Still, and Candy Paint… 1:59 and Take my Time are slowly growing on me. I want to hear more from her, I love her unique voice. It’s strong, subtle, and soft all at the same time.
9:50 My school band did that song during football games with the horn.
It was great for me. Worked out yesterday to it, sounded good and high energy!
Can you review Kehlani crash
I love still, insomnia and grip haha
The album is really good
insomnia is THE song of dopamine!!!!! when I heard it the first time (cause I swear only one week in and im sure this song is going to be high on my wrapped 🤣) I kind got mad for this not being the lead!!!
Yes!! and brandy on the background vocals eats Buffet style😮💨
@@NiiCanDo about time somebody realized brandy was in the background and she helped her with the harmony of this album. brandy is my all time favorite singer.
Same!!!!
Brandy wrote the song it’s a regular Brandy track that’s why
@Official.tadiwa brandy didn't write the song. Victoria and Normani wrote it together. Normani asked brandy to add background vocals. Let's share factual information please
“All Yours” is definitely my favorite on the album
It’s a grower for me.. I like that pre-chorus
@@pjartistics I love this style of music especially the chorus too
Hell yeah!
Lights on” for me
Still is also a bop
This album needs visuals. Like imagine if it was a visual album, we would have been GAGGED. Also, better features. She has so much industry connections, there’s no reason one of those big artists couldn’t hop on the album
I don't understand how yall don't understand that she can not afford it. She spent up her budget over those 6 years and was unable to recoup most of it. If yall make her go viral, her label might add to her budget so she can make videos.
@@ValenciaRose.idk why its hard for them to comprehend this😂
the visuals will be sickening
@@ValenciaRose.I really don’t think you understand how budget works. Studio time isn’t as expensive as you think, and a lot of artists have their own home studios these days. She has budget for videos, I’m sure. A lot of projects don’t have accompanying visuals, doesn’t mean they didn’t have the budget for it
@@iwantslimjimsExactly and people fail to forget NORMANI PAID FOR THE WILDSIDE VIDEO OUT OF HER OWN POCKETS cause her cheap ass label did not want to help fund it so people need to stfu with that “she used up her budget”….. WHAT BUDGET???? RCA just needs to fall because they fail sooooooo many of their artists 💯💯💯
Normani delivered a STRONG and SOLID debut album . She should be proud !
Stop lying 😭😭😭😭😭
Nope! She absolutely did! This album is great! I say that as a fan who was fully prepared to read this album to shreds if need be!
I absolutely agree
@@zinhle_dladlayou must be a pop girl, sorry sweetie this is a R&B Album
@@zinhle_dladlait’s true tho
Whole album goes crazyy 🔥🔥but no lie the first half TAKES IT
Those were my exact thoughts. The first 6 tracks are PRESSURE! No skips
I agree the first half is super strong 😍😍😍
Like the back to back hits in the first half is nuts I’m like this must’ve been the initial ep lol
hard agree
I haven’t stopped playing Still, Lights On, All Yours, and Little Secrets!!! I know some of her fans wish it had more pop songs, but I love the dark, moody, and sultry R&B sound. It reminds me of Brandy’s Full Moon and Janet Jackson. I love that she incorporated a lot of Southern influences into it. I feel it will be more of a sleeper album, but definitely a bop
as a core fan i honestly ain’t mad,if anything i’m happier she took this route
Your taste is 🔥🔥🔥
Why nobody talk about waves....her actual debut single they keep goin to motivation which was a second single for her
Well Love Lies is actually her debut single. She’s a lead artist on that song, not a feature
@@rhas20dancing with a stranger
I love waves and I think people sleep on it! It’s because of this song that I have been keeping tabs on Normani.
Right? I enjoyed Waves more than I did Motivation! Motivation was too generic for me.
It’s a no skip album to me. I enjoyed every song. However, it’s still just a decent album. I’m sure it will grow more on me. Also, I wish there were more vocal moments.
definitely a lot of sleeper hits
@@MCMcThrillerwhat’s this mean?

Normani ate this up, album is a bop 100%
Agreed!
100%
Say it louder for the haters in the back!!!! 👏👏👏👏
Zachary looks so fresh with the short haircut!!!!
I just realized he cut his locs. Did he do a video on why he cut his locs?
@tweety11226 a video or 2 ago. Check his page
I wonder will he ever come back on with fresh face
@@tweety11226yeah he did! i forgot which reaction video, but he said he felt like he wanted his face to stand out more & regrow his hair
It's the body for me!! I thought his profile pic was photoshop at first until I clicked on the videos. He really been in the gym & came out gagging everybody!
Insomnia is THAT girl! I've had that on repeat the most
Normani’s best bet is to hop in her Janet & Bey bag, give us visuals and choreography to make us fall in love with the songs when she performs them on tour!!!
Big Boy and Still is Houston coded fr anybody with ears can tell why she put those first. Every song on the album definitely reflects who Normani is as an artist sonically. Moody, dark, bold, sensuous & seductive, but just enough flare to still be upbeat and alluring.
I’m sure the visuals will make Zach come around to the first two songs cause I can already see them in my mind with how she’s finna come. I also predict a deluxe album with more songs to accompany the visuals.
The heavy hitters for me Big Boy, Insomnia, Tantrums, & Little Secrets
Agreed! I can literally see the visual to Big Boy and Still in my head lol. Im happy she added those influences into the record.
Big boy is more Nola than Houston
Zach energy around her album dropping is negative I can tell from my computer screen which is new for him cuz he never have this type of energy with the white girls I mean hell he started off the reaction in a negative way
@@datleoishot84 all shade but I knew he’d like Take My Time the most and her more sensuous songs lol He’s a pop artist and the biases are evident.
@@datleoishot84Any time there’s constructive criticism towards artists it’s all of a sudden negative or hate, nothing was hateful about this video
Listen I think Normani is just happy that she dropped something after something after so much pressure and I'm just so proud of her.
Right. Regardless of commercial success which does not always fking matter, she released a body of work that she struggled with for 6 yrs. Thats an achievement.
Fun Fact: Apparently, the album version of “Candy Paint” is different from the single version of it. I can see her using the BGV of the album version for her live performance of that particular.
Yesssss I’m glad that I wasn’t the only that noticed it omg !!
Zach don't know cuz he skipped it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
there is definitely different things in the background in the album version
wild side too
@@GeorgiaMcDunhill Correct me if I’m wrong, but the “album” Wild Side was just the first official version of the song. Now there was the extended version that was released later on that replaced Cardi B’s line in the ending chorus. Now I do admit, I was listening to it hoping lowkey they would combine both parts so that it can be cohesive, but it didn’t happen.
tantrums and insomnia were my instant saves
Tantrums is my favorite so far. Her and James voice blend so well. When James stepped in on that song….whew. 😮💨
On 1st listen I thought Tantrums was so weird. Now I love it. Insomnia is still #1 though.
The harmony on tantrums 😮😮🔥
Both of her parents had cancer!! What do y'all expect??!! I can only imagine the pressure she's under
That shouldn’t stop her or her team of making an album after 6 years!.. I can’t even imagine how she felt. It is very underwhelming.. How many times will you make that excuse? I think she should released this album in 2019. That is when she had been on tour with Ariana and she still had people eyes on her!.. I think the album was good.
@@pjartisticsso her making sure her parents stay healthy and alive is less important then a album she need to release so fans are pleased and making sure there satisfied before the people who put her in this world
@@pjartisticsgirl I know you fucking lying cuz if BOTH OF MY PARENTS HAD CANCER I probably would’ve left the spotlight completely and yall wouldn’t be getting shit 😂….youre delusional as fuck if you think her music comes before that 😮
@@pjartistics are you even real
if that was the case, i rather she takes more time than giving this mediocre rnb album. not saying that there are no good songs but i feel like she can go further
You can hear Zach is coming from a place of love, we all want the best for her!!! I pray the album does well!!!!!!!
Insomnia is the best song hands down and Distance is right behind it
I agree with Insomnia, it's everything for me.
Lies u tell girl 😂 not when there’s all yours & lights on is there
All yours says HI
Grip is a grower. I didn’t like it on first listen but now it’s one of my most replayed songs
Grip is real real good and clever top 3
Every reviewer said Grip could have been an interlude 😂😂😂 OMG
Justice for the Grip fans 😭
Grip is 🔥
I just wish she had better lyrics and less repetitiveness cause that beat is really cool.
I love Grip! It reminds me of the music from the early 2000’s; alot of music from that time used those beats and percussions.
i loved grip lol
No skips on this album. Big Boy needs to be heard with headphones on and the bass all the way up. Tracks 2-6 is a crazy ass run
hands down! cant remember the last time i let an album re-run 5 tracks because i just cant help myself. such a good run. but also #justiceforGRIP lol
I agree!!! Even in the car😭😭 it was so good.
“Normani who you gon fight!?” 😂😂😂
Normani needs to do what Tinashe did and LEAVE RCA. And start from scratch independent.
Lol her rollout would be even worse if she went independent 😂
That would make things worse I hate to say it
Tinashe works independent because she writes/produces everything and her videos don't cost big $$$. Normani, for better or worse, is a big label kinda gal!
@@3xsxs953 so it sounds like Normani needs to roll up her sleeves and be a bit more resourceful because even with a big label behind her, the rollout was mid!
Tinashe does it all and is on top of her stuff always. I don’t know if Normani is the same. Tinashe makes it work perfectly but she has said herself that not having a label makes thing harder since she doesn’t have the big budget
The album was consistent throughout and a solid debut! She delivered after 6 years. Probably the only one but Candy Paint is one of my least faves 😂
same
Not a fan of all the onomatopoeia 🤭 brum-bumpin???
I strongly dislike candy paint lol
same😭
The issue is...Normani doesn't know how to sign off on songs. There are moments where she should close a song with big notes or longer notes. If she doesn't have that, she should be layering like hell after the bridge! So the songs don't feel like they ever climax - they all flat line. I want that for her. I want her to sign off on these songs - Normani is that girl!!! She's gotten too comfortable doing a dance break during a live performance instead of ad-libing after the bridge.
Tantrums hits .. little secrets .. insomnia.. big boy … baby has a solid sounding album !! She delivered heavily
I didn't even know she dropped the album 😭
Stop lying. It’s been trending on twitter you hater😒
Oh wow…
How can you not know that? I been following since of the beginning of June before the release on the 14th!.. 😭
Right been waiting for it and it dropped when I wasn't looking. 😹🔥🫶💕
@@pjartistics So much new music has came out. Normani has been gone, I didn't even know she was back until a few days ago.
The album is GREAT, FIYA! 🔥 Her ONLYY issue is the roll out of it!
The Calvin Harris songs stay on my phone! Never left my gym playlist since they came out! Some of the best songs recorded by her
A lane I like for her
I will say this album gets better with each listen. I’m glad you agree with the big boy into candy paint transition cuz that would’ve been sickening.
Thank you for your critiques. My faves are Take My Time and Lights On (obsessed with the "face card" lyric), honorable mentions are Grip, Still, Candy Paint and of course INSOMNIA. Love all the songs though. But I'm sad Fair wasn't on the tracklist, I swear she said it was gonna be on it. But yesss we NEED a Candy Paint MV at least. I can see Tantrums having a mv too.
I agree with your change in the flow of this album! It feels like a compilation of tracks thrown together and I think if they were ordered a bit differently it would flowed much better
Big Boy is my SHHHHH-I-T! I would love a full blown pop album though. But I definitely loved Dopamine as her starter album. I honestly would’ve taken anything just to have the album!
Candy Paint is just that “It Girl” hands down
It’s solid.. it just sounds like another version of Motivation
Was literally looking at a Normani clip dancing when this pulled up
unrelated to normani zachary you look tf good!
This album deserves her 10’s what I need is lyric videos and photoshoots and music videos. Billboards! Etc. She needs a team that pushes her image and do promos
The album wasn’t terrible. It just lacked depth which made the album felt quite empty. The standout track for me was “tantrum”. The haunting airy beat was great and Normani’s vocals mesh well with James Blake.
Other than that, the album was missing a lot of “umph”. Again, the album wasn’t bad but for how long we were waiting for this album, she should’ve came harder. The album lacked production, vocals and memorable lyrical content.
I was looking for sickening instrumentals that would catch my attention because she lacked a lot of vocals on songs. Girl, at least have some grand productions.
Insomnia is definitely that girl! Sampled from Brandy’s “Acapella ( Something Is Missing)”
Insomnia is THAT GIRL
Actually Zach Normani played the guitar on insomnia

Nah, dis ain’t it. 😂 Da only songs dat feel out of place is “Little Secrets” and “Wild Side”. They should’ve switched.
Big Boy is my favourite track on this album, such a unique sound and Normani's voice sounded like pure velvet.
Insomnia is literally THAT GIRL!!! Little Secrets is a sleeper hit ❤❤ I’m so happy that people are tuned in
YASSSSSS WHEN YOU SAID WHERE IS MY INSOMNIA STANS I WAS SCREAMING RIGHT HERE!!! THATS THE ONE I KEEP GOING BACK TO LISTEN TOO!!!!
Ohhh this is literally no skips! The Album just have to be played with Headphones 🎧 because the album is a vibe . It’s a mood you may not get it in first listen but second listen 🚀 because the vocals and production is 🔥 Everyone just going in with negative energy because of the wait…
the hate train on normani is so TIERD .. give it up enjoy it for what it is the record was good and we know normani has star power
The album was a flop. The only ones who are loving the album are the fans that been riding her D since 2013 . the sound of this album is so tiring been there done that type bs. There is no replay value
THISSS !! I’m so OVER IT !! 🙃😒
other than the obvious dance tunes i wanna crack off my neck to ("Candy Paint", "Big Boi"), my favourite cuts are "Insomnia" and "Grip"
"Insomnia" is a masterpiece; from the Brandy sample, to that dirty kick knockin the whole way through, to the beautiful melody and cadence on the verse and especially the chorus, to the elaborate instrumentation and classic 2000's style vocoder ad-libs ugggghhh
"Grip" is my sneaky fav and probably most played. I love an effortless album cut that sounds like it came from the lubricity of being in the studio.... The lil whistle-like lick with the nasty beat, and the sexy lyrical ideas floating in and out- catching ur ear and disappearing back into the beat. What makes it genius for me is the CONCEPT + SAMPLE! "And here is G.I Joe with Kung fu Grip!" Old school G.I Joe advert to build the whole beat, song and concept around that P that grips differently!!!! ARE U FUCKIN WID ME!
We need to shout out "Starrah" AKA Brittany Hazzard ... The cadences she writes with/for Normani are the secret sauce, ever since i heard "Wildside" I knew she was on some shit, and that "pull up in the" section at the end is Starrah... Did my research and she is on another level, as a writer she can thread a cadence that sounds like a ghost is sneaking up on your ears, and the sweetened, smoothed out trap inspired formula they have found for Normani's music sets her apart, and suits her dancer coded staccato perfectly.... Album was definitely worth the wait... excited for more, but rockin wid dis for now....
The listening party was for the fans, We could hear it in the garage the point of it was so the songs didnt leak because when you record your phone mic cant pic up all the bouncing noise. i will say for a debut and from people calling her "nomoney" that listening party with giving expensive every single thing was free, Free merch tshirts (with custom designs) posters, etc, free drinks yes alcohol, unlimited drinks. Free tattoos and also fun things to take videos and pictures with. I have never in my life witnessed an artist do something like that for there fans maybe Taylor swift and ari but they just did like casual just listen to the album and i think Taylor made cookies or whatever for her fans. I traveled across the country and was willing to pay for merch as well and she DELIVERED!
What really is a journey is the fact that THE FIRST VIDEO of yours i watched was the Motivation reaction 6 years later and i love you just as much as i did then🩷 keep up the AMAZING WORK ZACH
A solid debut
Little secrets DEFINITELY should have been either the opener or left off the album completely. Wildside wasn't needed at all. Big Boy and Still grew on me by the second listen. She definitely gave a SOLID first album. The opening was solid paying homage to her roots being born in the A and raised in Texas. Tantrums should have been the album closer. Grip should have been shortened. Now rather than call this a defeat. Drop some visuals, do some more appearances, do some award show performances, go on a month long vacation, and then start working on her sophomore album. Still rooting for her ❤!
the real tea is the label not providing a budget for marketing or videos…. the rollout is pretty much on her manager. Normani don’t like social media so that’s a dead end.
The rollout is trash and it’s so disappointing because she did something artist haven’t done in a long time.. she dropped a solid body of work, the whole thing is just so good and because of the rollout a lot of people don’t even know she dropped an album to experience it 😩
“Tantrums” featuring James Blake is an absolute masterpiece. They compliment each other so well on the track and it stands out from the rest of the album. “Little Secrets” is also a favorite of mine. 👏🏻
🚀Dopamine🚀 is a 10 out of 10 I told y’all, this was gonna be out of this galaxy 🌌 light years away
She does not disappoint. Sincerely, thank you Normani.
Bro. Still, Lights On, Insomnia, Tantrums are my favs. She rounded it out with Lil Secrets like Aaliyah rounded out with What If. Opener was great. Grip was dope. She mixed hip hop with early 2000s & modern r&b. This project was dope! Well done Normani!🎉
she still have the chance for a redo… follow through on the roll out by releasing a deluxe version of her album with music videos and big features. make everyone gag.
It’s hard to come here now and give you the views when I’m a new Patreon member . But hey, I’m STILL HERE (Tisha Campbell voice) 😂😂
Bahaha

Knowing how she is the visual artist that she is, that is a BIG missed opportunity and this would have elevated her debut era for her and I hate THAT for her so bad. Regardless, I enjoyed the album! Solid ✨ I hope it does so well! I wished she would go independent!
I’ve really been running this Normani album to the ground 😭
Same
Normani and Chole Bailey need to colab asap. Ms. Ari Lenox too needs to join
“Still” I feel like if you’re not from Texas/Houston you won’t really get it or get into it. It was definitely a nice homage with lil Easter eggs to Htown from the Mike Jones sample, her reference to “Back Then” in the opening line, Travis Scott’s infamous adlib, R.I.P Pimp C, the chopped and screwed outro.
THIS ALBUM WAS PHENOMENAL, LIKE ITS SO TIMELESS AND SO UNIQUE NORMANI IS THE TRUTH !!! This album is on rotation ❤❤
Please support Normani! For those who keep asking about her music video for Candy Paint: if you're willing to help pay for the music video then please by all means do so because RCA sure as heck isn't going to do it. Normani had to spend over $1 million of her own money to pay fund the Wild Side music video: in a time when the average American couldn't even afford $1000 for rent because she believed in it. People do not believe when we say Black Women are truly SABOTAGED in the music industry. Producing an album is NOT CHEAP: people charge about $50K to $200K per song hence why it took her some time because she is doing this all by herself while supporting her parents who were suffering from cancer. Meanwhile RCA invested millions into Tate Mcrae's music career, used black contemporary culture and marketed it to the masses for profit.
Please buy and stream Dopamine ~* !!! It's literal sonic perfection ^_^
The singles sans Wild Side are honestly the weakest (mainly 1:59). This is a solid debut for it to be such a pushback album
“Insomnia” leaked 3 years ago… “Fair” should have been on the album
Fair was sleepy, another track with no climax. We can't have all lullabies
Nah fair wasn’t it
"Still" made me miss Rihanna, but not in a shady way but it just reminded me of Rih!
Where's Rihanna!
this, its very Roc Nation coded in a modern way😆
I literally have only been listening to this album all week its so good
This Album should go back to the archives tbh, solid 4.5/10. I think maybe it’s because she was going through personal stuff that’s why the music ain’t banging but fr yall gotta stop lying😭 still love her tho but not this
“Insomnia” needs to be the next single !
I just don't think Zach is a R&B fan....
'Insomnia' was my fav leaked track and then they made it even better by adding Brandy's bgvs and that guitar break... I live😭🙌🏾
The rollout was bad but the album is top tier and I haven’t stopped listening to it.
Omgg Zach I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!
Tantrums is my JAMM. and little secrets 😮💨😮💨😮💨
All Yours really is that song I think will take off
I think I expected more uptempo than I expected. Sometimes I felt like the background music was louder than her voice. I mean I’m glad we finally got it after 6 years. She will improve from there. Her tour will sell though, so she should still be proud!
INSOMNIA!!!! Brandy and Victoria did their big one on this ❤❤❤❤ Gives me Human’s “Acapella (Something is Missing)” vibes
Very solid album for Normani. Zach when you said come on Janet for "Lights On" I said Yassss Bitch she giving us Miss Janet Damita Jo Jackson DOWN. That song was a nod to Janet. Love your review.
I hate your opinion. It's easy for you to seat behind your camera and dictate what an artist should do. Your opinion does not count
