People are ALWAYS slagging off the interviewers. Fucking always. There's nothing wrong with how this guy acts, he's just a normal bloke. On top of that, he actually asks interesting musical questions I'd never thought of asking. I never knew Better Let You Know was a cover of a house song. That's so cool. Something like that would have never come up in a regular interview. This interviewer clearly knows how stuff so he should be respected for that alone.
+Deathshuck and Strictly Casual ... I totally agree with you both too. If you want to see Noel in an entertaining light, watch Jonathan ross or Graham Norton interviewing him (both very funny too) but this guy asks about thing that Noel probably respects and relates to the most. I also like how the interviewer allows ample time for Noel to talk without interrupting which many other interviewers annoyingly do. Respect to this guy, I came away from it enlightened on some things I didn't know about and that's pretty much what interviews are all about.
+Berty Boy People like Jonathan Ross and other TV folk interrupt because they have so little time to play with. With this sort of interview, they just roll tape, and later cherry pick the best bits. It achieves much more relaxed and honest results.
See I liked this interview there were questions that weren't the same old "Do you talk to Liam", I don't really care I just want to hear good stories and let Noel talk about what he's done or doing.
I have to say this was one of the most interesting interviews Ive ever seen with Noel (and I've watched/listened to A LOT of them) John asked questions that us fans were interested in hearing about, not the generic ones Noel gets asked in every interview he does. Nice one.
this is definitely one of the better recent interviews ive seen with noel. Interviewer brought up some great obscure questions. Also the production on this was beautiful!! the editing and graphics, and camera work, and I LOVE how they included little snippets of the songs they were talking about in the video.
Oh great to see an interview with Noel Gallagher - there really isn't nearly enough of them on youtube mind you what with him being shy and retiring that shouldn't surprise any of us !
the idea of actually playing or showing us some of the things spoken about of referenced in the interviews, is good. Means we don't have to wonder what they meant, or go and look it up ourself.
great insight to a living genius singer songwriter looking forward to seeing you soon Noel Gallagher in August at bellahouston park Glasgow outside my house I may add
Shields wouldn't do it. He doesn't seem too interesting and also boring. I just want to see him display his guitars, the tunings and how to get them, and his pedalboards. But that's giving away the secrets and he won't do that so an interview talking about it in loose terms or what it was like being in MBV back then isn't so interesting.
How often does the interviewer change his image? Compare his driving instructor from the 90s look in this interview to Japanese workwear enthusiast in the Liam interview. Top notch interviews, though
Another excellent interview. Doran really does illustrate how critical the interviewer is to the interviewee. From a music perspective, I do find Noel's output dull as f, but i could listen to these 2 for hours.
I've got a kicked out of my bootleg recording of Purple Parallelogram made it in the interview or on a mainstream interview. Never thought. I was just excited that day recording it and years later shared it online.
Noel's greatest moments are still encapsulated in the audio commentary on the Oasis music videos on their DVD. The TH-cam collections of those kill me.
6:30 Live the Dream ‘87 Blackburn. That was huge. Mate who died in 2020 at 58 was mates with the organisers/security aka local bouncers/drug dealers/hard men. I was only 10 but could here the bass 7/8/9 miles away at home.
My first pill was a White Dove…a Super Love Dove no less. £20 a pop, and the dealer asked if I’d ever taken one. I said yeah but not many, but he said take half, they’re stronger than anything back home (in England). Me being me, just turned 17, popped the whole pill, and was a bit of a dodgy come up and went to the toilet in the bar we were in. Was panicking, then my mates, 4 out of 9 who partook in it, banged on the door, I opened it with them all past the come up, all massive smiles and that just triggered an overwhelming sense of euphoria and togetherness. Never forget that feeling, and visual. Was Summer 1994. BCM had the best DJ’s in the world. Even Boy George had a residency or two, but not that fortnight.
Clearly shows you're a bit of a thicko if that's what you got from this. The questions far too much for you? Would you prefer if he asked if they were getting back together?
WELL said Morrisopolous. ... Mr. "lol" would prefer John Doran to ask questions like "How many expensive cars do you own?" ... "How much is your house worth?" .... the fact that the douche bag calls himself "lol" really says it all .... doesn't it?
5:30 leads into theGREATEST & FUNNIEST SH*T of ALL-TIMES - it's about Noel/Oasis covering a dance/house track and then talking about pills...the expression/reaction on Noel's face after his replies = #EPIC
Funny, if not at all surprising, to see Doran getting such flack for his interviewing style. I gain more from hearing Doran interview someone than I do perhaps any other interviewer I can think of. There's countless interviews with the people in this series but I've definitely enjoyed these ones more than any others I've seen.
I think NG is one of the few people that seems to have come out the other side of extreme fame relatively unscathed. Dunno how he’s so grounded and managed never to go to rehab or even see a therapist.
I think that Noel Gallagher is one of the BEST SONGWRITERS in the history of popular music. (Really THE BEST). He is clever and funny and I love listening to him talk. jason wier In London/South East the first ones coming over were the Yellow 'burgers' or Callies as they were called - probably because they were still legal in Caliifornia up until 1986 - high quality and expensive. Never heard them called New Yorkers - might be a regional thing I guess
***** Yeah it must a regional thing, because if you ask anyone over 40 and knew the score then mention yellow New Yorkers you get that look!! If you got 1 for a score you had a touch, i remember being in gaffs and they would go for triple the price because only 1 person had them, i remember burgers but they were different ones up here. The last time i had a pill was about 5yrs ago,5 of them to be exact and the biggest rush i got was standing up to fast, i am a bitter oldish man!! Did you have clear window panes down there fuck me they were strong 12 hours of solid tripping
jason wier yup - had those a few times - regular blotter was usually £2.50-3.00 - windowpanes were £5 - and for very good reason - the guy we bought them off was like 'try a quarter first' and he wasn't wrong.............jeezo.......talk about looking at the palm of your hand and actually seeing the sweat start to form within your fingerprints! ha ha!
Before loads of dickheads turned on Noel before Liam’s come back! He’s still the same guy he is now he’s just being given the shitty end of the stick because he wanted to experiment and progress as a writer instead of selling out and just doing what the thinks everyone’s heard before
It's funny - usually tracks 6 and 7 on an album (if one is a really cynical musician) are where you typically dump your filler (NG has said as much himself, albeit advised by his record company) If you're truly great, there is no filler, it's all excellent. Yet on this album those tracks are The Right Stuff and While the Song Remains the Same, IMO the greatest tracks he's written as a solo artists, and arguably two of the greatest he's ever done. They are poweful and elevating. Got the same off those as a 30-something music snob that I did as a naive 13-yr old boy listening to Champange Supernova (a microwaved Dear Prudence). Was genuinely impressed - glad he started to do the Right Stuff on the last tour, rather than let it languish in filler track purgatory. WTSRTS is also a banger - notice he's done it in solo sessions a few times. Deserves to be aired more. Also liked Riverman and Ballad of Mighty I (frankly for me songs like in the heat of the moment and Dream On are the needless filler). Ironically, I thought the songs on the david holmes album, Who built the moon, trumpeted as a giant leap forward, just sounded like New Order-lite. And if your idea of progressive pop is New Order (in 2021) that's pretty depressing. More like those two please - and Chasing Yesterday in general - the kind to satisfy BOTH Oasis fans (for their nostalgic sensibility and power) and more eclectic, cerebral music fans, who also just like a melody damnit. Incidentally, Dead in the Water and the man who built the man were the best tracks off that lackluster last one.

Yes and the answer is always going to be no, if otherwise im sure we will be notified
This interviewer is fucking brilliant asked noel some brilliant questions, I've found out a lot more about noel and oasis after watching this
+Louis Baker Stop trying to talk like the gallaghers.

Why do Noisey try and make Manchester look more bleak by putting a grey filter on. The weathers shit enough as is
They filmed in the old blue last in London

It's in London.
It's filmed in Luton.

Noel Gallagher never fails to amuse, what a beauty
You're a fantastic interviewer; thank you for all of this, my friend.
I love the Interviewer! Such great english Humor and Music Knowledge combined
"Comfortably numb, the best guitar solo of all time" ... 100% agree, a legend appreciates a legend. Huge respect, Noel.
I saw Noel in Sydney on his Chasing Yesterday tour - best gig of my life.
He gave me a bit of a telling off then! Was telling me that the gig was “not a fucking stag do”. Course I carried on clapping and he kept saying “no”🤣
this is definitely one of the better recent interviews ive seen with noel. Interviewer brought up some great obscure questions. Also the production on this was beautiful!! the editing and graphics, and camera work, and I LOVE how they included little snippets of the songs they were talking about in the video.
Thanks Noisey! This was the reason I subscribed during the last British Masters. John does a fantastic job with these.
becuase bone head was bald and that would've been preposterous 😂😂 this man is simply amazing and funny as fuck
His voice sounds like it doesn't want to be talking.
Think he’s enjoyed some cola
Oh great to see an interview with Noel Gallagher - there really isn't nearly enough of them on youtube mind you what with him being shy and retiring that shouldn't surprise any of us !
Liams vocal on that Cartouche cover sounds like Ian Brown’s vocal on “Tell Me”
Brilliant interview . You can tell noël respects him as it's not the same old bollocks questions
An interviewer should always challenge the subject and push them a bit. This guy knows his stuff and goes deeper than most. Good work.
the interviewer is brilliant. fantastic interview.
The Old Blue Last! Love that pub. Round the corner from my office
Jack Alexander Turner no way! I was in there for a concert in the summer (on the first floor). Didn’t recognize it
The fact that Noel loves House music makes my heart warm.
Love these interviews. John is very good at his job.
would love to see an Aphex Twin episode
Me too :)
Yeeeeees
YAAAAAASSSSSSS
Good shout
Theres a bbc radio documentary by john doran on aphex twin, he says in it how he asked him to feature in british masters but he refused
live forever, great solo☺

What a talent John Doran is, asking the right questions.
Great questions and great answers. You could listen to Noel all day. He could talk in depth about a loaf of bread and he’d make it sound interesting.
great insight to a living genius singer songwriter looking forward to seeing you soon Noel Gallagher in August at bellahouston park Glasgow outside my house I may add
John Doran interviewing Kevin Shields, now that is something I'd pay to see.
Too bad he spends his time interviewing the human equivalent of a packet of crips - Noel
Noel isn't an interesting musician, but he's a great interview. Sharp, funny and eminently quotable.
Yeah he is an entertaining interviewee in fairness. You'd get a way more musically insightful interview from Shields though

Ballad of the Mighty I really is a fantastic song.
I almost hoped for a comment on Shoegaze by Noel there hahahaha.....(laugh turns sour)
Noel Gallagher... you love him or hate him... there's no middle point.
