Actually Total war hasn't touched anything in 10 years, so yeah everything this guy does is an innovation. Glad there are still people with passion in the industry.
Thanks a lot for the kind words and praise for the work, done with love and passion. Animations would not look as good if it was not for an already amazing game, but happy they contribute. Can't wait for all the new stuff to be in the game!
All of that stuff is going to be fantastic in battles if nothign else. Anyone who have played Rome 2 with its garbago animations at launch know how important this stuff is.
This game and development team shows us what the BARE MINIMUM STANDARD should be from the bigger studios. I hope this team stays around for the long haul. We NEED more development like this in gaming!
I mean to say this is bare minimum is a massive stretch but to say they need to be far closer to this than what a lot of devs have been is probably more reasonable
@@HG-wl2fm I think the point is that if just a a couple of people can make this, a massive AAA studio should be able to do much more. They never do, of course, but it -should- be the bare minimum standard, because it is entirely possible with just a percent of their budget.
for real. we see that mass producing streamlined franchises makes no sense and takes the life out of the games. this year we had Baldur's Gate 3. last year we had elden ring. before that we had the last of us. I could go on but the point is people still play these games over and over. if your goal in developing a game is not to entertain and inspire as much as possible, you should be replaced immediately.
@HG-wl2fm I don't think it's a stretch by any means. This game is being made by a handful of people. Imagine what a massive studio would be able to do. Instead of making several games at a time they should focus and put out quality games one at a time. You don't see artists or painters making 10 different paintings at a time.
The thing standing out to me most is that they've managed to get organic looking settlements rather than it being square plots awkwardly sticking out of the road.
Manor Lords will go down as one of the greatest games ever made for this genre. You can quote me on this. The detail is insane. This isn't a AAA studio with 200+ workers either. For the longest time it was just the one guy. When you take that into account yea it should win awards.
Kind of excited about the modding potential. Go from a late medieval period to an early British period where you have to fight the Vikings. Or go to sengoku Japan, if so, this game will be one of a kind.
From the Battles of the First Age of the Edain and Noldori against the forces of Morgoth, to the Blackfyre rebellions of Westeros! Still sad there isn't gonna be a co-op or verses mode
In the future, we need DLC that gives us the possibility to become the king of the region, with other lords paying taxes. It would also be good to have a DLC about religious wars, where we could choose to play as either the Arabs or the Europeans. This would expand the map, and the map of the other religion would have fog until we begin exploring. It would be beneficial for lords and the king to have traits or to gain them based on the player's decisions.
I love RTS games, i also love City builders, but over the last few years, no new game has excited me much if at all. This is the first RTS or city builder that has excited me in a long time and i can't wait to get my hands on it.
I don’t know how the dev of this game feels about this but I hope between this and the (likely farther away) project renaissance, that those two games finally end and permanently bury total war. CA is a greedy company that is slowly destroying itself. Total war is on life support. Given CA has completely stopped listening to the total war community and their greedy and sleazy business practices come under increasing scrutiny, I hope that we can finally let total war die before it degrades even further. Total war at this point is just pure necromancy, beating a long dead horse for greed especially no block of total war fans is being listened to or getting what they’ve asked for. I hope that if manor lords and project renaissance are the medieval 3 I and many other history fans want and are successful, that the devs of them branch out and give angry total war fans what they want most which will finally end and bury CA and total war.
It'd be really sad to see Warhammer 3 die before it gets truly fleshed out. I'm hoping for CA redemption at least until that happens, but ideally at least this becomes a case study for other companies on how to treat their player base.
Honestly? You are comparing apples with pears! Manor Lords has much more in common with the Stonghold series than it does with Total War. Or with the old impression games like Caesar or Pharaoh. “Knights of Honor 2”, the “Field of Glory 2” series (battles and grand strategy games) or the “Ultimate General: American Revolution” soon to be released by EA would be more appropriate. Of course, CA can learn a lot when it comes to battle mechanics, that's without a doubt! And I have to honestly admit: A gaming world without Creative Assembly would be a lot poorer.
@@GermanOlle Finally a sane person. Been fan of TW since Shogun 1. Will be fan forever. Even if I wouldn't touch a WH or any fantasy title with a 10 foot pole. That doesn't mean CA is shit. They just want to cater to as many people they can. As long as they remember we historical fan are still there, I'm 100% on board.

The game comes out 2 days before my birthday... It's gonna be a hell of a present to myself. I always dreamed of being a medieval petty nobility and this is just exactly what I needed. I just hope it is as historical as possible so I can truly immerse myself in my fantasy lol
Urban fortifications and lighting of pedestrian routes and important places should be accessible. Using torches, etc. A bit like the atmosphere of The Guild 2. Palisades, defensive towers made of wood or stone, strongholds, barracks, ditches, and gates were famous in the Middle Ages.
Imagine if it had the budget, if it had passionate people to make it become even more greater, with the help of a decent and not greedy company, we could get the best game ever
This is so impresive for a indie studio, I have no words. Might buy this on release, usually don't do that. Only bought Elden Ring & Lords of the Fallen on release in the last 7 years lol.

The fact that a city-builder has more down to earth real and gruel feeling combat than the Franchise that makes those games for 20 years now truly speaks volumes. It just feels more gritty and realistic than having wax figures with invisible strings attached to one another blob together. Doesn't seem real at all
Wow, I haven't been following this game much, and haven't known much about it. But when I watched this video and realised that I can literally walk around my own town, I almost couldn't believe it. That feature alone is gonna get me to buy this game now, and all the other features seem amazing. I only have one thing which I don't know. Will you be able to follow some random person in your town throughout his life? Like, let's just say he's born, you decide that he'll be the guy you'll follow. He grows up, gets a job. Perhaps war comes, and he's drafted into the army. You follow him throughout the war, perhaps he survives a few battles, but you eventually finally watch him get killed. Or perhaps he goes on to survive the whole war? Who knows? Honestly, it would be cool if you can do something like that. If they even have a life cycle that is, I don't know.
From what i know, people that get drafted into your army come from your Town, so you should be able to recognize citizens during the battle, but i'm not sure about following them for their whole life
all of this is so hard to believe, if I'd see this kind of content on kickstarter I'd say it's a scam that looks good and just disappears after cashout.. but this fills me with hope that there are still games to get excited about

This. A single person develops the game. I am already happy if the builder part is great. If he manages to pull off even more and add a decent, or even excellent, combat mechanic, that would be close to a wonder. I stay cautious until proven otherwise.
To me its just like pc and technologies. Before the standart gaming pc we had was gtx 970 for 1000 bucks, now for this price you have 3060. The coding world is the sames, strong pre build ia/graphism, with passion and time he built on it, he didn't made ai from scratch i'm sure
