before you do any of this make sure you undo the cap on the brake fluid container under the hood so when you push the piston back out there is room for the fluid to move.

One thing that is nice is that the car manufacturers have kept brake design pretty much the same all these years. Makes it all gravy. Nice job Jim!

When compressing the piston, I would first crack the bleeder valve on the caliper so contaminated brake fluid from the cylinder bore doesn't get pushed back into the hydraulic brake line.

I would recommend NOT wiping down the new rotors. I’ve tried various shop rags, microfiber, and others, and they ALL leave little strands of fiber in the metal. You wouldn’t be able to see them with old man eyes, or in dark garages, but hold it in the sun after wiping and you’ll see fibers all over. Just leave that grease on there, it burns off after your first trip out. Secondly, after you pull the pins out, clean out those rubber boots and holes with Q-tips. There is often little pebbles and rust in there. It helps to wet the Q-tips with your mouth so they don’t leave fibers in there either.

People should watch NOT to twist the pressure hose when refitting the caliper. It is quite easy to overlook.
    Other than that perfect

Thanks for this video sir, but is it not necessary to remove the brake reservoir cap before pushing back the Caliper piston into its bore and in addition is it not also necessary to bleed the brakes after changing brake components?

Well, those people from the parts store are supposed to ask you the diameter of your old rotor before they sell it to you.

I don't hear Jimthecarguy cautioning the Sunday mechanic on the dangers of breathing the break dust, a cause of lung cancer. He does at one point warn against a fast initial spray of the assembly in order to avoid scattering the dust into the air. Nothing more. He wears gloves but no face mask to filter any dust that unavoidably may get into the air. Tell us why no more words of caution, such as "be sure to wear a face mask with a proper filter for brake dust!"
To be fair, I have looked at other videos on brake repair and have not found much concern expressed about protecting oneself against the dust.

The newer cars are made with organic free pads and shoes. You do bring up a good point but I have one question for you where do you think the brake dust goes as the shoes wear down on every car, truck and suv on the road ? Thanks for your input and watching.
