I love seeing the differences between the modern and older equipment.. I think it would be so cool if you found some really vintage tools of the trade!
y'know I've always had a really weird request that mixes learning and asmr. Might you be willing to go through some of your items, starting with the oldest you have and discussing how equipment changed and evolved?
I think the best parts of your videos is just describing what tools do what, and why you do each test and what the purpose for all of it is. I’ve been wearing glasses for 20 years so I’ve been to a lot of eye appointments, but I hardly ask any questions I just do the tests and get my glasses. So the sounds of the tools and then you describing how they work is great!
You know I love glaucoma testing. That was my first request from you. Runs in my family, and my Dad has glaucoma, so I get tested. Doesn’t hurt at all folks. You cannot feel anything but the drops, initially. Thanks, SRP.
If it weren't for the fact that tests like this squick me out hardcore, I'm certain this would be an amazing video! 😅 I hate anything touching my eyes, even if it's imaginary. So I figured I'd leave a comment to boost engagement, because your channel deserves more traffic in general 👍
In real life I'm so horrified by anything even approaching my eye but in ASMR I want to be straight up poked in the eye with corneal reflex and glaucoma pressure tests... brains are so freaky.
I think that's normal enough that my eye doctor told me when doing this test that the probe only gets close to the eye and doesn't touch it. Naturally I was thinking, "Then why the fuck did you numb my eye," but I guess it helps some people
Yes.. returning to the eye clinic at 3am as working in my job field I have unsocials hours at times... so here’s me on my days off having my eye pressure checked because my body clock is all over 😣 ... so relaxing no words☺️! X
I've had glasses since kindergarten, so I have so mant memories of going to the eye doctor; while i didnt know what it was at the time, every trip gave me so many ASMR tingles! Thats why this channel is my absolute favorite ASMR channel, it's so reallstic and brings me back to my childhood (although I never got this test as a kid lol)
I have never seen this kind of pressure check until watching this channel. Anywhere I've had an eye exam in the US has used the machine with the air puff.
They used to use this type of equipment. I’m old enough to recall. Yes, they tend to use the puff of air now, unfortunately. No ASMR to be had with that.
I was due an eye exam recently and I was so disappointed as my prescription hasn't changed so it was a super short appointment. I felt cheated of the ASMR experience 😂 Do you get people seeking you out specially to be their optician for the ASMR experience?
Hey SRP! I’ve been watching for some time now, which btw you are my absolute favorite, and I’ve always wondered if you’ve had any experience in the optometry field! You seem so knowledgeable. Anyways Thank you for the tingles!
You have a very calming voice. When I have a pressure test at the opticians it's a big machine that blows a puff of air at my eyes, it always makes me jump.
This is some quality content here, would totally knock me out if I wasn't so interested in how things like this work. But that's what I like about it, it's soothing and interesting.
I really like that this is a hand held tonometer. This would be great for W/C pts. We use an iCare or Tonopen but I feel like this type of IOP device would much more accurate.
The other week I had an actual real life eye exam with a optician and he was so calm and quiet and detailed when checking my sight that I ALMOST asked him if he watches ASMR eye exam videos.. I did chicken out however haha
So jealous. I’ve only had one good optometrist in my life. All the rest have been so rushed and loud. Eye appointments were always my real life asmr :( I need your guy lol
Question. My optometrist has a large desk top machine that does this. When you do it handheld, how do you avoid accidentally putting too much pressure? If you’re free handing it, even with the headrest I would imagine it’s very delicate when you’re touching the eye directly.
Heyooo Dr.SRP I have no idea if u remember from ur humble beginnings still amazing content but getting amazingly better i knew your channel would be amazing sincerely- Riley B
When I get the non-contact tonometry (puff test) I start giggling and can't stop. I have no idea why. My optometrist was always very tolerant. Now they use rebound tonometry which I "shouldn't feel" but feels like someone rapidly scratching my eye with grit. It sucks.
i have a question, if someone were to get intravitreal injections, would it not effect the eye & how it works? im sure a needle would do more damage to the eye than what it actually does for you, right?
another question: what is the purpose of your device measuring my eye? does it have different uses than the retinal camera device at your ophthalmologists office?
Not a lot really. It may go up with exercise and caffeine consumption, but tends to be a short term increase. Otherwise there are other factors you can’t control. Age, family history etc Apparently cannabis can lower the pressure though 🤷🏽♂️
My grandad got this after having a bone marrow transplant he beat leukemia twice but I'm the end the last 6 months he had he went basically blind because of glaucoma

I don’t think it would be cool, who cares, you know?
@@benodonnell6540 Who cares? Peter clearly does. And it seems he is not the only one, as you can see from his upvotes. 👍🏻

What a guy. Reminds me of when I was at uni the whole day, then worked evening and night shifts afterwards.
Keep grafting.
Michael, I hope your situation gets better soon!
You should be proud of yourself. I hope you're getting enough rest ❤
