  • Tai Chi Grandmaster Feng Zhiqiang of Beijing, China was also a master of Taoist Qigong (rejuvenation & healing exercises; alternatively spelled: Chi Kung). The Primordial Qigong (Hunyuan Qigong) is a series of gentle movements that recharges you like a battery with deep breathing and full body motion. It blends the basic ("primordial") creative energies of Nature with the personal energy of the human body. The Taoist healing tradition of China knows that abundant life energy (the "Qi") is always flowing around us. We simply need to open ourselves to the Qi to recharge our vitality. Practicing the Primordial Qigong promotes physical endurance and resistance to illness. It reduces stored stress and chases away fatigue. Many people find that this style of qigong provides relief from many different ailments including headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and rheumatism.
    This 15 minute video is a shortened demonstration of the Primordial Qigong. All movements are shown. But typically one would practice a longer session. Here is a link to a translation of the Chinese narration, which I commissioned from a professional translator and then edited in the light of my qigong training. [I will welcome any corrections in the comments area from Chinese-speaking viewers.]
    dl.dropboxuser... . TO PRACTICE ALONG WITH THIS VIDEO, TURN DOWN THE SOUND so you will not be distracted by the Chinese narration (unless you understand Chinese).
    I, acupuncturist Eli Jacobe, practice in Gloucester, Massachusetts, USA. I learned Master Feng Zhiqiang's Primordial Qigong in 2002 from Kenneth S. Cohen, a prominent American qigong scholar and teacher. Ken had trained extensively in the USA with Madam Gao Fu, a direct disciple of Master Feng, as well as training with Grandmaster Feng when he visited North America. Ken provides training in the Primoridal Qigong in workshops around the USA.
    I teach the complete set of the Primordial Qigong routine, including the rarely disclosed internal visualizations that are essential to get the full benefit of the movements. My classes convey an understanding of Qi, gained by my students' experience of awakening Qi in the body. To enroll in a group class or for private instruction, call me at 978-525-2255. For additional information about qigong, please visit my website: www.AtlanticAcupuncture.com/qigong .
    I teach weekly qigong classes in Manchester, Massachusetts at the Ananda Shanti Yoga Studio, 11 Beach, in downtown Manchester (near the Post Office) Thursdays at 11 AM to 12:15 PM.
    (Memo: Master Feng passed away on 5 May 2012, at the age of 85.)
    An illustrated English translation of Master Feng's book on the Primordial Qigong system is available from:

    To Mr. Allan Mena: I suggest you read the full introduction to this video by clicking the words SHOW MORE in the lines directly under the video. There you will find a link to an English translation of the narration to the video. By the way, not all qigong masters will agree with your assertion. That is, not all qigong requires visualizations. Also, some qigong is practiced with natural breathing, which means one does not control the times or lengths of breaths. But energy still develops.

    Master Feng died earlier this year. To learn this qigong, look for workshops and publications by Master Kenneth Cohen or Master Chen Zhonghua. They are noted in other postings about this video.

    "Primordial" translates a Chinese term Hunyuan. It does not refer to being first or better than anything else. The method brings the Hunyuan Qi into the human body. Hunyuan Qi is the fundamental, undifferentiated Qi that exists all around us in Nature and also enlivens the human body. Bringing in more Qi and uniting it with our personal Qi is the purpose of the process. See Master Feng's book which will temporarily have a link in the main description under the video.

    Yes, there are differences between qigong lineages. Just as there are different methods in traditions of yoga. One of my Qigong teachers in China teaches a Microcosmic Meditation style that goes up the front of the body and then down the back. Thus joining the flows of the Ren Mai and Du Mai channels. I asked her about the version I learned from Master Chia, going up the spine and then down the front mid-line. She explained that nobody ever does it that way since hundreds of years.

      @foshoucitron4595 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually this is just the way women microcosmic orbit can be done. It is really not recommended for men!....I guess she must not have a very good command of the theory behind qi gong which is the same as Chinese medicine. Du channel is responsible for the yang energy (it must be encouraged to go up) and it is cooled down by the Ren/yin coming down in the front. I hope you have not done it this way for too long even though I see you posted 4 years ago!Cheers!

    You are quite welcome. Master Chen used to sell the VCD (video CD) which includes this video of Master Feng demonstrating the Primordial Qigong; perhaps he still does. Scroll down this comment page for his academy's address and phone in Canada. I did see the VCD listed on his website but just now can not stop to search around his sites for it. (He has several websites; but as I recall there is one that has the main store. Give it a search! Or just write or phone them.)

    To Mr. Allan Mena: When you read the full introduction to the Primordial Qigong video, you will learn that Master Feng died. So it is not practical for you to ask him to arrange translated versions of his videos.

    Honestly, I do not completely understand your comment about super-qi-gong. That is, just what do you mean? As for Grandmaster Chia's Iron Shirt practice, since I do not know it, I can not compare it to anything else. However I have trained with Master Chia in short form Taiji Chi Kung, Microcosmic Orbit, Six Healing Sounds, and some of the Fusion practices. So please know that I totally respect his work.
