We recently retired - we HAD to move from Sussex to Lincolnshire to be able to afford a reasonably sized house in cash. We could not afford either rent or a mortgage on our pensions. Lincolnshire is lovely - we now live rurally and peacefully. BUT - our youngest, a man of 32, who could not afford housing on his own in Sussex or the whole of the South East, had no choice but to move with us (he was doing a Teaching apprenticeship in Sussex in a special school). He now is faced with having to try and find work here in rural Lincolnshire. Swings and Roundabouts come to mind.

He spent some time working in Germany which is probably worse off than us, but he loves Poland. The people are openly patriotic and the cost of living is far lower. He has found that food is half what he was paying in Germany and is of a much better quality.

Yes , I agree , I watched a program about where to go if you choose to live , the answer was any country who have survived and recovered from oppression. Poland was one of the top choices, there’s a reason the Polish are patriotic, hardworking survivors, proud of their strength and their country. Serbia , Argentina were also mentioned as these countries are going from strength to strength. I’m Welsh and we’ve had Labour in charge for a quarter century, it’s truly disgusting what they have done to our country and the people 😢 Shameful 🤬

Even on a house the issue of lack of sun in winter means you can never be self sufficient power wise. Solar panels on a house are good to save you some money as in summer you will do well and on average you annual bill is less. However there is no scenario in this country in which you can ever be energy independent unless you heat with wood or coal and use candles for lighting.

When are we going back to basics. Where is the evidence that CO2 in the atmosphere is going to create a crisis with the climate? A recent Polish scientific study suggests that the maximum greenhouse effect from CO2 in the atmosphere was reached decades ago. The whole Net Zero thing is purely theoretical and even the IPCC have said that the climate is a chaotic system and its future behaviour cannot be predicted.
