- Welcome, Now if you own a DX commander Lite Vertical, then you know that you could not get 10, 20 and 40M on working together same pole due to the way the 40M element is loaded.. Well that was up-until now. This video shows 2 ways it can be done... THE DXC LITE ~10M FIX..

Those are some older model DX Commander parts on that pole. I haven't noticed an issue with mine, but then, this is the first time I viewed the video. Like your channel content. 73's de kd5smf

If that is a common problem, I wouldn't be surprised to find the spacer added to the antenna kit at a later date. Am I correct in thinking the Trap creates a 1/4 wave element on 10m?
You would be correct... :)
That is what I would have done at the top, except I might have spread it further. The other fix is brilliant, it might change depending on the location, but that is excellent. How did you make the trap, if I don't ask someone will?

How far into ground is that pipe you slide the antenna over ? Great mod.
Around 2 feet, 60cm.👍
I have the same issue on the 80-6 dx commander wonder if this will fix that.

Yep, yellow fibre glass decorators pole, about 1.5m long, 60cm of it just hammered in to the ground, 40mm or 32mm diameter.

I think for antenna builds that FT8 is a great test platform to compare results and see how things work.

There is about 60cm below the ground and 90cm above.
What size dimensions is the supporting pole

hi mike im the one who had a go at your flowerpot 2m 70cm antenna and im thinking of trying that dx commander one looks good but do you know were i could get hold of any of the spreader plates and the ground and radiating plates from mate it would be much apreciated ste m7byf oh and luv all your vids they have been a great help as i passed my foundatioin on may 1st of this year and your video,s have helped me out so thanx

Thanks Fred, the fix is only for the lite, however is may work on the DXC, what issue are you having?
Mike… Thanks for the response. My NANOVna shows the following for my DXC Classic ABV. I have just installed a “Roly Coil” with the taps on the bottom. Top tap shows 3.270, Mid Tap 3.160, and the bottom tap shows 3.160 as well (Probably need to do this over. I would like to get the coil resonant somewhere around the FT8 Fq (3.573) so I’m thinking about turning the coil upside down to see where they tap the band.
Also with the 40 meter element bypassing the coil, 40m is resonant @ 7.050 which is good for FT8; however 15m is resonant @ 21.900 so I suspect I’ll have lengthen the 40m element to bring it back into the band.
30, 20,& 17m are in good shape. 12m is resonant @ 24.060 and needs to come up for FT8 and 10m is resonant @ 26.760 which also needs to come up for FT8. My thought was to use your spreader fix for 40m element that might help with 12 & 10m.
Looking forward to the video on the trap. I wonder if you could get away with cutting a spacer out of a light plastic - something like the face shield material that's being used for some masks currently.

I was a big supporter - even wanted to go in the weekend in Cornwall all the way from Oz - until I challenged the endless broadcasting videos and was attacked and told basically to also go forth and multiply.
