This has gotta be my new favorite version of At Doom's Gate, it really screams "Doomguy's back". I especially love that little bit at 1:36 that Mick Gordon added, really makes the piece as a whole feel more dynamic, along with some other small additions.
That's actually the reason I love it too! It doesn't feel like a cheaply made move to make it feel "different," it feels like it just enhances an already iconic melody to keep you hooked longer. Mick Gordon did an absolutely stellar job with the soundtrack, but this is by far the best part of it. Absolutely amazing.
Every rendition of this just gets lower and lower, relentlessly. And it only pauses, *briefly*, until someone gets a bigger subwoofer. Then the cycle starts anew.

I think 2016's key was in D Minor. This one is in the original E Minor from the original game.
