I installed Temgot lithium in my RV about 1.5yrs ago. These batteries are feature packed and value priced for what you get. I have been very pleased with the performance and have not had any issues.
YUP - ABSOLUTELY would copy Kevin's insulation. Inside walls can be different or not even finished so you see the insulation, but DEFINITELY Insulate!!!
100%, need insulation. Honestly it's probably best to insulate the whole building, and then create another smaller area for the batteries that is also insulated. Insulation is the ultimate passive system and pays for itself over and over. Don't forget air sealing and thermal bridging. Airseal (NOT with great stuff, use something like Prosoco R-Guard Air Dam or a polyeurithae caulk). If he can do foam around his studs he can reduce them acting as a thermal bridge. Best would be to fill the cavities with foam/rockwool/celluluse, and then rigid, then drywall (never have exposed rigid, huge fire hazard). Since he is in a wilderness area and subject to fires, rockwool would be safest but expensive.
Eric, pick up an old non-working refrigerator. Put the batteries in it and use it as an insulated cabinet in the winter. It will go a long way for your battery life, and it is cheap to do.
I know you don’t read all the comments, but I’ve had Lithionics battery packs for the past six years and they are self heating. They kick on at 37° and keep the battery at about 40°. No need to do anything or keep the building at 52°. You definitely don’t need that high of a temperature, even without the heated battery packs. Good luck with this new company, but Lithionics is UL approved and has been around for a very long time. My van system is 1260 amp hours. I strongly recommend that you insulate that blue box before you put any more things on the walls or joists.
Give Eric a break, he got them for free so he needs to hype them. Most of the people that watch his channel don't know the truth so they believe him. They sponsor him, so he's going to say what they tell him.
Eric, why not build an insulated box around the batteries. That is less expensive than the whole babe blue box. Also this will aloud you to plan insulation when you upgrade the structure.
They have had the self heating batteries option for several years now. There are several companies that have the self heater and thermal shutdown. But beware, a lot of them say they do, but don't if their from China
Those batteries seem amazing! I'd still be sure to insulate that shed though, less wear and tear on the batteries still. Even in heat it will help them function. I'm really enjoying your Taterland content.
Congrats on getting that property set up so nice !! I can't wait to see what you do next. It's gonna be a hot summer this year. At least you have dry heat up there in the dessert. dry heat is so much more tolerable than humid heat. just keep that in mind.
Hi Eric Im writing from Canada , Quebec. Li Time has approximately the same self heating technology, much less bells and whistle , but 200ah. I bought one for my RV One problem to look for if you want to put your new battery to trial, is to charge them while using them and then stop the charging . On my Li Time, when I do that ( ex solar is charging then the sun goes away) , the battery BMS shuts off. The only way to restart the battery is to boost it for 5 minutes. I wrote to LI time and the only thing they could offer was to reimburse me … It won’t be fun if it happens when your gone away.
Im not one to criticize anyone but why haven’t you just insulated the shed by now. It would be WAY cheaper than buying just one $700 battery. Just saying. 🤷♂️
Hey Eric what's going on man I love this I'm going to purchase some Solar batteries here in a while and You just showed me what to purchase thank you man hope you and the kitties and Diana are all well
Would have liked to see you use S0K batteries Eric as they too have low temp heating and are real work horses. Hope the new batteries work out for you.
I have batteries at my house. Very cool. Off grid is fun to learn and do. Nice to hear the excitement in your voice-it is exciting to have this electric off grid setup. You have nice power where there is no power grid.
Frame a small doghouse size box around the batteries, spray-foam the inside and you'll hardly need any heat. I have some LIon batteries with heating plates built in but I keep the heat plates off due to the load, until I need them which is rare. And I live in the mountains in Colorado.
Eric I would still put a simple 1 inch styrofoam board under, around and over the bank for winter. You get clouds and snow for a week covering your solar panels those batteries might go dead. Then you have to jump start lifepo4. Can't do that from afar.
Good to note that the batteries do not heat themselves using charge from the battery. They refuse to take a charge. Then when the source power is available (Solar, Sunrise) and there is at least 10 amps, they start warming up the battery. Once the battery is proper temp, they start charging. (small print - I don't know much about anything. However, I did watch another video and checked out the Temgot page and I recently stayed the night at a Holiday Inn Express.) Based on this newly gained knowledge, I will be buying this battery.
I bought a Temgot lithium battery last August. I really like it, especially the display and app monitoring. I did some reviews and videos on instalation. I had great customer service with questions. Hopefully better than your Redodo batteries were. Nice videos!
Eric, I know you always get suggestions for everything but I do see one really good improvement that would be helpful. Build a vertical rack(wood or metal) and mount the batteries sideways and and upward so you can still read the batterys' led panels and take up less floor space...right in that corner they are near would be a really good spot...just my 2 cents worth....I sure wish I would have waited for these batteries as I already spent on others that dont have these same functions...these look really good!!!
I just purchased two Temgot 300AH batteries to run in parallel in my motorhome to extend our dry camping outings. The two 100AH wet cell batteries barely made it through the night, especially if the furnace is on. I bought them based on Amazon reviews, then found this channel on youtube to learn more about them. That being said, can you really trust a review from a sponsored channel?
Good luck with the new setup! Ultimately if you need to replace these always go with the voltage of your charge controllers / inverters (48v in this case).
I have never heard of self heating batteries, unless you get something go wrong and you get thermal runaway and they blow up like we hear in the news all the time. Oh that looked like a Mull plant behind you when you were talking, but I guess you can have that over there hehe.
Since you were getting new batteries, why did you decide to stay with 12 volt batteries rather than go with 24 or 48 volt batteries. Just curious as I think I'm going to go with 48 volt batteries on my system. (EDIT) oh you got a couple free.
Just an idea, you might consider buying another 4 batteries, that would allow you to wire those in parallel with these and keep them all at a lower state of charge (ie 80%) which would be better for the batteries in the long term
Did anybody notice the pot plant that was behind him. I'm pretty sure that's his cousin and it's plastic. But if not , Eric likes to live on the edge.😊
Very impressive Eric. Thank you for showing us. If you don't have any problems in the short time before I get my new set up, I probably go with these. Good luck bro
Cell balancing built into the BMS is also not new technology. Batteries have been doing that for years. You really should take some time to learn the basics about Batteries.
Self heating battery technology has been around for a while now. There are a few companies that have them with a 5 year warranty. Do yourself a favor and just insulate your shed.
Can I use a 80 amp battery charger to charge a 300ah Temgot battery ? For example I've learned that a 206ah SOK battery will only want a 40 amp battery charger and nothing more is recommended.
Eric did you hit your left thumbnail with a hammer trying to nail some boards? I did and half the bottom of my thumbnail turned black as a reminder that I missed the nail and hit my thumb a month ago. Great review and price on the new batteries with new technology.
Damn, off grid but..... my all electric 3000 square foot house can be powered for around 5 to 6 years for the price of his off grid contraptions. That included heating water, air conditioning, heat and all appliances. Doubt the contraptions will last that long.
@@unchained20000000 lol, no he's had it for a long time. You're not alone though, seems lots of others think its real. No way a plant would survive in a place where his batteries are so cold, they have a tough time charging. Big temp swings in that environment.

@@sumpnspecl2 Yes. Lithium batteries do not off gas like lead acid batteries do.

If you lifted the batteries off the floor & insulated under the battery stand with foam the batteries would take less power to heat.
Really wouldn't take much to keep them temps up 😢
