A woman (buyer) got nasty with the seller at an estate sale because she wouldn't give her half off clothing first day (from $2 to $1) and walked out empty-handed. Same seller gave me a free purse 30 minutes later because I wasn't nasty, just on the fence over the $5 item. Attitude matters.
Be careful! There could have been an Air Tag inside the purse!

Wow! We routinely have to wait 2-4 hours to get into an estate sale and at most sales if someone talked to them like that, they aren't coming in.

People tend to forget that they are emptying a house to sell it. Estate sales are always overpriced. I stopped going to them. Circle back on trash day..it will be sitting on the curb for free.
The companies that have came in to run estate sales have ruined estate sales with the over pricing!!!
I find this comment very funny considering what has really ruined the market is the resellers posting videos of I bought this for 3 dollars and sold it for 50.00. In my area some of the estate companies are cutting out the public and listing the estate online themselves. We asked one of the well known companies in the area why the change… they said cause people are not happy with paying 50% fair market value followed by 25% of the fair market value… why give away money when we can make the 80% + fair market value our selves. The estate is happy as they see more money. The business is happy… they make more money… the only ones that are not happy are the people who are not getting the dollar deals to make 100.00.
So what youre saying is, at the end of the day it's still the auction companies that cause the prices to rise @skatcat500

If you present a copy or photo of your reseller’s license, estate sales are not allowed to charge you sales tax - just a tip!

It's not in Florida that the pricing is high, it's in general. You got to get to know the pricing style of people holding the estate sales. Like what they value, what they think k worthy of photos, etc... some people just post like the furniture, glassware, paintings in photos then ignore rest of stuff that actually have value. First day is when you can find "best stuff" but you may have to pay up a bit. I'm in miami,fl , I usually only go first day because rest are usually extremely picked over and more time needed to find stuff. But I'll walk out with an ikea bag of stuff (no glssware) just normal items and usually 10x my money. But you gotta get to know the companies style of pricing and what they consider valuable..
That clown obviosly wasn't to expierenced in estate sale. The start times are the start times. Complaining over being there a half our🤣. I have gotten to estate sales 5 hours early because there are certian things I really wanted.
This lady at this estate sale is something else, she doesn't even know what stuff is and her prices are insane!
A good estate sale tip is to go to the secondary register if they have one. The people running those are always a little more liberal on the prices.

Saint Augustine isn't that good anymore. They've replaced alot of the charming stores on St George Street, with Cheap Souvenir Shops, and even CBD Sellers. I almost cried last time I went. The Historical Society should be ashamed of themselves for allowing such garbage.
Upsetting to see that lady looking up prices on her laptop at the checkout. The fact that she asks, "who's this?" as a cheating method for buyers to supply her with the name or an identity to look up the item faster. My response would've been, "I don't know" every time, she were to ask that question.

I think she was keying the item description and sales price into their spreadsheet to keep track of sales. I don't think she was looking up their value.

That estate sale host was way over the top nicer than I would have been. I was in this field for many years before I retired 2 years ago. I always gave somebody one mean comment I attributed to them having a bad childhood or something such. After that I would have looked him square in the eye and said "your behavior is not acceptable.. you will not be coming to this or any of my other sales. " I just didn't put up with it. I had my share of calling police to convince someone also. And I do the same at my personal yard sales. After 20 years in the business, I rarely get an outbreak of the stoopids anymore.

Went to estate sale other week and two old collectors were talking about their old babe Ruth’s they each had one. Just other day one sold for like 12.7m small world wonder if it was one of them. Lol 😂
Estate sales are harsh sometimes, but boy do I love them 😂 And Cary, just walking around aimlessly waiting for you to give him stuff 😂 JK Carey, not all are pricey. Try to go to ones that are being held by owners and not estate sale companies. Once you find a good one, I bet you’ll be hooked 😊
Yep, I have one or two decent estate sale companies in the area, and a lot of garbage ones. I usually won't go to an estate sale unless it's family run or one of the companies I know are decent.
i just went to a family run estate. they were looking up prices when I checked out and were giving me the highest ask prices. Not all family run estates are cheap.

@@kritsadventuresIts happening more often than not. Back to back family run estates they were asking half of highest ask price on ebay which was still $100 over sold comps for a llaido figurine. Its just where im from everyone wants the most out of their junk. My best guess is they didnt sell much after I left. Wouldnt sell my friend a book for $10 I looked it uo ad it had no demand on it, no solds, listed at $70, but they probably paid $75 for it in china. $10 is fair or they have to hold onto it and sell it on ebay for $25.

A guy asking if he can come in is not trying to start a fight, if they open at 9am and it is 9am they should have let the people in. If it was me running the sale, and I saw a line like that I would have let the people in early. What is the point of making all those people stand in line, it was stupid.

I bought a plush at an estate sale for $4 sold it for $199. The rare plush are more likely to be found at estate sales.

One of our Christian sisters passed and the family allowed only the church members to pick free items...it was very sad to see all of her stuff being picked by strangers, but the money went to the church and she honored her heavenly Father in that way! She was a Faithful servant!🙏

Pretty much all of the Estate sales up here in New York have All of their merchandise priced and they stick to that price on the first day, only the second and third days do they give you a lower price. They pretty much price things pretty good and not over price things

I’ve seen this happen in person once. Guy illegally parks blocking access to house. When he was told to move his car, he has a male Karen freak out cussing and yelling. Then he comes back, jumps the numbered line to go to the front and proceeds to try and start of fist fight with other buyers. Slamming around the house like a rhino.
I really thought the lady meant all the baseball stuff for $20, I would have double checked.

Any reputable estate sale company spends time before the sale pricing and staging the house. Thats what they are getting paid for. To get the most for the family.

I’ve never seen an estate sale charging taxes. Is that a norm? Also, they had some good stuff, but the pricings were pretty steep man… I would’ve just left .
In Kentucky, Estate sales companies do charge tax because it is a business. They are providing a service for the owners.
