Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story (るろうに剣心 明治剣客浪漫譚, Rurōni Kenshin Meiji Kenkaku Romantan?) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki with an anime adaptation. The story is set during a fictional early Meiji period in Japan. The English-language versions of the OVAs as well the film is released as Samurai X, although the original title was included in the DVD releases. The story is about a fictional assassin named Himura Kenshin, formerly known as the "Hitokiri Battōsai" (人斬り抜刀斎, "Hitokiri Battōsai"?). Kenshin later grieves for all the lives he has taken, and vows that he will never kill again.
The manga originally appeared in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump from September 2, 1994, to November 4, 1999. The complete work consists of 28 tankōbon volumes which have sold over 47 million copies in Japan as of 2007. The United States release of the manga has been completed by Viz Media. Rurouni Kenshin is subtitled "Wandering Samurai" in some English releases, as a rough translation of "Rurouni."
Writer Kaoru Shizuka has written an official Rurouni Kenshin novel titled Voyage to the Moon World. The novel has been translated by Viz and distributed in the United States and Canada.

Man the Kyoto Arc was by far the most epic sequence of events i've seen in any anime, it had morals, epic fights, and aside from the entertaining unrealistic fights and such, it was very beleiveable. I will always remember Rurouni Kenshin Kyoto.
OG Kenshin OST truly is god-tier. As were a few other older anime series... just not the same now. Each and every piece tells a story.
Noriyuki Asakura, the composer of this song, and others within the soundtrack, has composed the entire soundtrack of Tenchu : Stealth Assassins.
Then that's why I love that game so much and remembered me of this anime.
I loved how it wasn’t just Kenshin Vs Shishio. It was all of the strongest fighters trying to beat him and it was amazing. They were all my favorite characters up against my favorite villain
The build up to that final fight was amazing, all of the established characters and past villains teaming up against the real main threat. They don’t make stories like that in anime anymore, it’s all fan service cliches now.

That is how you create great battle bring in the heros who were antiheroes and make them team up to fight against the real villain
@@mrphauker There are a couple, but in general anime has suffered from adaptation to hook viewers with shorter attentions spans, so even if I gave you a list with more recent anime, they would potentially have more cliche and fan service that these og.
Like Code Geass has a complex team up,.
Gurren Lagann, FMAB (reboot),Psycho Pass, Eureka Seven, Iron Blooded Orphans... There are others but I can't put my finger in it. Anyways they are not the same they have a different build up and all, but they are good, IMO.
This soundtrack had no business slapping this hard. God I'm so glad this exists! Possibly the best ost in any anime

It's actually a combination of all of the fighters music, save for Aoshi's Oniwabanshuu theme.

Hands down. Best samurai manga/anime ever created, also it's based on historical facts. Shishio arc is one of the best arcs ever crated, yup it is. Also Trust&Betrayal is awesome.
I think Samurai X should be more popular in the whole world.. Bc it is just amazing.. Hands down

Yohimo Asakura I am currently working on getting people together that want Yoh Asakura as a full-on playable character in J-STARS VICTORY VS+. We just have to convince Bandai Namco Games to include him because he has hidden data anyways just like Dio Brando, Jotaro Kujo and Dai (from Dragon Quest) and because he does have a large global fan base. It will be a challenge, but it'll work out someway! Plus Shaman King really deserves a reboot of the anime series. I mean, hell, if Hunter x Hunter gets one, why not Shaman King?! Together I believe we can manage it somehow! convince bandai namco games to include Yoh Asakura as a full-on playable character in J-STARS VICTORY VS+ and to get the well deserved Anime-Reboot!!! The first kickoff is the introduction of Yoh Asakura into the J-STARS game, so that we catch the attention of a production studio like for example Madhouse. In order do so we first get the attention of Bandai Namco Games (Europe, America, Japan) and bring out that we are a largen GLOBAL fan base which wants to play as Yoh Asakura. I will try and see if I can open up a petition in the next few days so stay stuned!

And the series is not so popular anymore (firstly because original manga is finished long time ago if we not count spinoffs, the hype is not there anymore), you are late like 10 years or so. ;/

The build up to that crescendo gives goosebumps even today, almost 20 years after I became a die hard fan of Rurouni Kenshin. I guess the Yahiko in me knows that Kenshin will appear, as if on cue, at this moment.
I can't count the times that part has given me courage in my life.

I resent the fact that they produced 30+ filler crap after shishio's arc ended but no one bothered with Enishi.
I still like the filler episodes honestly but yeah you could tell it was the end after shishio.... I did think that the Christian arc story got almost as intense as shishio but it got cut short and not built up enough . Eh . the bad guy could have been as intense of a fight I think. I could watch just a show of the antics at the dojo though.

eartianwerewolf I thought that the first episode of the Christian arc looked like it had major potential and it seemed like it’d be great but they threw the idea down the toilet within sayo and shouzo and other annoying stuff that made it suck but I did really like the arc where yutaro returned and they were fighting the black knights I think that was the best arc of season 3

Some of the anime weeaboos I converse on the internet say that Fushigi Yuugi is the great anime of all time. Little did they know that Rurouni Kenshin is way more badass than Tamahome and Idiot Miaka.
+Kristel Carol The stupid thing about Fushigi Yuugi is how Watase made Nakago so overpowered in the final battle that it was ridiculous that even channeling all their abilities into Tamahome they still can't beat Nakago until he was depowered with a wish from Suzaku.

This music is legendary.
The blue kimono is from the time Kenshin was the Battosai, when he killed people. The purple kimono is later on, when he meets Kaoru and the others.
This is the anime that I first watched and this is the best intro to anime I could have ever found!!! LOVE THE MUSIC

Hiko: No. It was perfect. But even if its the same attack, the power behind it is an entirely different story. A multiple strike attack requires power. A charging attack requires weight for maximum effect. but you severely lacking with those categories when compared to me.
in other words, your Kuzu Ryu Sen cannot overcome my Kuzu Ryu Sen in a million years!

Epic Fight
Shishio's greatest strengths are his ability to gather followers (and from them, information) and his absurdly good analysis of techniques in combat. You can't take away either of these skills and still say that Shishio would be fighting at full strength. It's like saying that ninjas are weak because they rely on surprise to make kills.
