I was a CNA nursing student at the time and I saw a friend of mine who was a LVN nursing student bawling her eyes out. She told me that she had gone into Rodney King’s room at the hospital that she was working at. I will never forget how shattered she was.
I share your perspective on the OJ case. When Black people were denied justice (ex. no conviction for a lynching) we were told justice is blind. See the Themis statue. Lady with scale in hand and blindfolded. Finally we had someone that had enough money to tip the scale with a super legal defense and investigation team. When someone complained I would just say I wasn't there, but I know justice is blind.

I was a Freshman in a 99.9% KWHITE high school on the Northside of Chicago. When the verdict was read, “Not Guilty,” while all the white students expressed their disgust in the verdict I openly cheered. It was in that moment the gravity of the verdict way heavily on me.

That was a government sponsored hit. it may not have been sanctioned by the entire government, but a group of government officials did. They could've stopped them, easily. We have military, the police, federal law enforcement, National Guard etc. They allowed that to happen. it's just what happens when you let the white go unchecked... like what they always do and apparently trying to do now with their sentences.
