We in Minnesota had the privilege of seeing Ace play for six seasons. We were strangers to soccer in many ways but class always shines. Ace shone like the midday sun.
The last time i watched this legend , Mabhekaphantsi (the game controller) in action was in the late 80s in Thembisa, Mehlareng stadium. He had just arrived from Toronto . It was a thrilling game between Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows, it was also the last time i watched Joel Mongezi Mkhuthuzi Ace Mnini in action. Swallows fielded, William Khura Makhura, Happycow Nkomo, Aubrey the great Makgopela, Sullie Bump jive Bhamjee, Gonna Hanana ha Padayache, Phil uYindoda Venter just to mention a few. Chiefs had the body swerver , Teenage Mgabadeli Dladla, Trevor Kae kapa kae Mthimkhulu, Fetsi Telephone exchange Molatedi. The hero of the day was Wlliam Coolcat Shongwe, Happycow sent a powerful shot to the right corner of the poles, Coolcat dived to the corner when it got deflected to the left corner Coolcat acrobatically went the left corner, everybody stood up in disbelief!!!
The Maestro on the soccer field. Ace changed the game tempo like turning the volume dial of a sound stereo. I hear the voice of another Maestro's commentary of the game. Cebo Manyaapelo. Listening to him brought the game alive, even when his commentary was on the radio. These 2 Maestro's are dearly missed in our soccer world.
Gone are those days when players play for interests of their supporters and for thier happiness, not these nowerdays players busy playing for money, not carring for their supporters
Anyone notice that there's no sound of the vuvuzela. That's how we SA supporters used to do. Kedi fluit, singing ska Siwelele and the shouts of "Aaaaaaccce, Shoooooees, Sttteeeve, Rheeeeee, Rhhooo etc. Not the lie SAFA sold to the world ka 2010. U don't hear those things during kasi games, where can u get 30k supporters during big diski tournaments
Not sure what you are saying. Kalamazoo Mokone went to Italy and competed well. Ace went to America and competed well against world class players. He even received Hall of Fame recognition. Kaiser Motaung did the same and so did Jomo Sono. I can quote more players. Despite isolation, South African XI played well against few countries e.g. Argentina match is quoted
I am a white Afrikaans person and personally some of my sporting heroes include doctor khumalo and Lucas Radebe, I really find junior khanye interesting. I would however say Danny Jordaan chases us away haha. Back in 1996 white, Indian people cheered for baFana bafana . Question is why are they so bad nowadays?
I do not support Kaizer Chiefs bu Pirates. I used to admire and fear some Kaizer Chiefs players like Nelson Teenage Botsotsi Dladla and Patrick 'Ace' Nstoelengoe fondly named Umbhekaphansi njengesambane. Probably alongside Ephraim Jomo Troublemaker Sono are the two best players this country has ever produced. I've been lucky to have watched the two maestros live in my lifetime. RIP Aaaaaace!

He was a bit shy, remember seeing him in New Doornfontein(JHB) in 2002.
They didn't have competition. But now they are not winning at all
He was the best even now not even who is like him
He was so good at slowing down the tempo of the game when needed. He was a complete footballer.
Football made simple, he is the best of all time
