    Was looking through TH-cam and saw this vid and said that’s my truck same crack in the windshield diamond plate where cup holder goes and on the pass door. Crazy! I bumped up the timing and she don’t smoke at idle unless it’s cold as hell. She’s a beast you know what size injectors are in my truck which use to be your truck. Was going to pull one then saw this vid. Did you do the exhaust on this truck cause that’s stuff is rigged not so good. I fixed it up but made me laugh. Oh and if you get this I’d love to hear what all was done to her. Thanks for selling your truck that ended up in my hands

      I hope all is well. The injectors are from power driven diesel. 7x.009 sac 148°. I believe it's a 30hp injector. The head gasket is Cummins and ARP studs. I'm told it has a Hamilton cam and chromoly pushrods. I know the rockers are aluminum rollers.
      I didn't do the exhaust. Did you get the transmission sorted out?

    Definitely going to go to a 12cm Exhaust housing for better spooling on the low end just don’t know if that would make my egts higher if it does probably bite the bullet on an intercooler

    my main issue is my truck feels gutless until lockup. anything out of lockup it will rev to the governor. cant even feel when it shifts but bites down at lockup.. literally cannot tow over 10k up a steep hill from a stand still. you can forget backing a heavy load up any hill as well. pull great at lock up but way to much stall under a load otherwise... im honestly gearing up to swap in a spicer 3053a. already got a sae flywheel and 800ft/lb 14" clutch as well as the gearbox, just collecting all the other pieces to the puzzle.. honestly hate towing with an auto for this reason. high heat and tc's just cannot hold up to 10k-20k loads.

      Sounds like it’s just a stock transmission with low line pressure, you gunna want to crank that line pressure up to get firm shifts.

      @@devin3156 what psi would you suggest turning a stock tranny up to? I have the issue as dude described above and just had the tranny rebuilt less than a year ago. New to the 12 valve auto world

    • @devin3156
      @devin3156 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would not go over 140 psi of line pressure on a stock tranny, obviously when your in that deep go ahead and put a heavy duty band kit and shift linkage in her, would recommend a billet shift accumulator as well. Also if you have a triple disk convertor or ever get one you cant run 140psi of line pressure unless you put a billet input shaft in it because that fucker will snap.@@dillonwilliamson4975

    I just dropped trans and today on my 96 12v 47rh and dropped her off at shop for rebuild got me a Suncoast triple disk converter don't Kno what stall tho but I'd imagine e it's low my truck was used for to wing cattle so

      I like the low stall, it is a big lagging off the line with a bigger turbo. I haven't towed more than 7k lbs. Most of the time the load is on the bed, less than 3k lbs.

      What converter is it? Thanks for the video

    I've got a 94 2500 and when I got it driving at 110km the rpm was at 1800. Now it's at 2300rpm at the same speed.
    Do you think that it's the tourqe converter?

    • @VARITHMS
      @VARITHMS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like the torque converter isn't locking up.

      Yes 100% my truck is at same rpm with 3.54 gear there is low stall 300rpm reduction 10% or 900/400 ultra low stall great for towing just watch smoke lol

    me and one other guy lifted my sock bed off with our hands. my 8x8 flatbed was 1688lbs so no, its not at all the same lol. just dont noticed the difference with these trucks other than a smoother ride with the flatbed. now that said my damn trans stays between 2k and 2500 until lock up

    • @VARITHMS
      @VARITHMS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My flatbed is 1/8" diamond plate, the frame channel is 1/4x3. The bed has no skirts or boxes. Plain and simple, and light as possible. I don't have a goose or fifth wheel plate.

      @@VARITHMS mine is not skirted, same diamond plate but its been decked over by the first owner so its doubled up. lots of channel, cross members at ever 6" and built in gooseneck under the trap door. it was very heavy.

    Would thickening fluid transmission lower stall?

    • @clover7359
      @clover7359 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it will just further reduce pumping efficiency.

    What brand is the converter?

    Nice truck.
    What is the stall speed?
    Thinking of upgrading my converter to a "low stall" "towing converter"

      I'm not sure. Max rpm is about 1500 if you hold the brake down and hit the gas. I'm doing the head gasket now. I'll check it out when I get back together.

    I do t have a low stall and your rpms run exactly like mine does.

    • @VARITHMS
      @VARITHMS  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing the difference is when I floor it with the brakes on the RPMs only go to 1200 RPMs.

      @@VARITHMS Jay Smith maybe.... I actually don't know anything about diesels, my 97 is the first diesel truck I've owned and man I'm learning everything, I use mine to haul a 32ft goose neck and man before I messed with the AFC filter it towed like a dog. A buddy suggested I get that low stall converter...

      I noticed your oil temp fluctuates a lot just with a little acceleration. That doesn't seem like a good thing at all...

    You think it needs replaced or something else?

    • @VARITHMS
      @VARITHMS  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can check it by adding a power wire to one of the terminals with a switch. Many of the Dodge forums have write-ups on adding a switch.
