Yiheng is insanely good, and will only get better with time. It is good that he is constantly exposed to solving under high pressure, because he really needs an environment where he can hammer out his nerves. He is so young, he will have plenty of time to enter total domination of speed cubing.
He’s still young, and still gets nerves. Once he hits 14 years old, he will be completely unstoppable, and be humble.

@@dka5631 Yeah for sure. Plus he’s gonna be growing for a while and when it starts to speed up that will mess with his turning and everything could start to feel unnatural for a while

I feel like this match shows what Matty is capable of. He puts up some incredible times at home, and now he has done so in a competitive format, winning against Yiheng.

Bro I’ve been saying this since 2021, Matty (in form) is the best cuber in the world. He has insane potential if he doesn’t lock up (which he often does)
The same can be said for other cubes yes, but the degree of which lockups affect Matty’s times are way more significant than other cubers. A smooth matty is an unbeatable matty
Matty is so underrated
And he doesn’t compete much, so he doesn’t have many opportunities

In the solve at 6:38 - I think Yiheng's cross being off by M2 U2 M2 WAS ACTUALLY PLANNED. He had a super easy "x cross" into a super easy second pair with his solution. He was very ready for the M2 at the end as well. Maybe it was an accident, but after reconstructing the solution I think he may just be operating with creative solutions.
This match really showed Yiheng is human. He's INSANE at his peak, comes up with creative solutions like that, but he had a handful of +2s that affected his results. I was super happy for Matty as well - he's been grinding super hard at a top level for 3+ years but his major championships this summer didn't quite pan out, not to mention past WR fails. It's epic to see him clutch up in such a high pressure match here!
This is a great match length btw. Not like 1 set short, but not so long that I don't want to watch all of it.

The +2s didnt affect the outcome, without them he still wouldve won and then lost.

I don't why people keep saying +2's affected the result. The first +2 Yiheng would have anyways won, and the 2nd two he would have anyways lost.

I dont know how awesome is cubing, in the season 1 or season 2 , five second solve was the amazing solve and dream solve but in tis season 5 sec solve are leaving the door for both competitors

Absolutely mad, his tps is out of this world, his solutions extremely creative and his solves are just satisfactory. I wasn't a fan of Yiheng before this match to be honest, but he has shown to be an absolute unit. Still I'm happy Matty won, I was rooting for him.

Matty also played amazing as his solves were much better than yihengs this match. Remember tho, Yiheng is still young, so there is so much more to come.

best match of the season so far. matty was unreal. i always feel bad when yiheng loses though because he is still a young kid who probably isnt used to losing in such a direct way since hes been dominating for a while now. he needs to keep his chin up and remember its not all serious!

Which cube does Matty use?
Are there new rules on refing or someone scrambling the cube for them? I know in the past it was on honor system and theyd scramble their own cubes and then put them straight in the box, but Yiheng seems to have his parent helping out. Is he just doing that volutarily?

I'm pretty sure Yiheng's +2's was due to the self-alignment of the gan's cube layers. They say it's hard to get used to.
