I feel like this match shows what Matty is capable of. He puts up some incredible times at home, and now he has done so in a competitive format, winning against Yiheng.

He has insane potential if he doesn’t lock up (which he often does) The same can be said for other cubes yes, but the degree of which lockups affect Matty’s times are way more significant than other cubers. A smooth matty is an unbeatable matty
In the solve at 6:38 - I think Yiheng's cross being off by M2 U2 M2 WAS ACTUALLY PLANNED. He had a super easy "x cross" into a super easy second pair with his solution. He was very ready for the M2 at the end as well. Maybe it was an accident, but after reconstructing the solution I think he may just be operating with creative solutions. This match really showed Yiheng is human. He's INSANE at his peak, comes up with creative solutions like that, but he had a handful of +2s that affected his results. I was super happy for Matty as well - he's been grinding super hard at a top level for 3+ years but his major championships this summer didn't quite pan out, not to mention past WR fails. It's epic to see him clutch up in such a high pressure match here! This is a great match length btw. Not like 1 set short, but not so long that I don't want to watch all of it.
The +2s didnt affect the outcome, without them he still wouldve won and then lost. and yeah i also thought that as well it defitnetley was planned, he just did a ben cross in another video he does cross and then f2l and fixes cross with S' U2 M' U' M U2 S

best match of the season so far. matty was unreal. i always feel bad when yiheng loses though because he is still a young kid who probably isnt used to losing in such a direct way since hes been dominating for a while now. he needs to keep his chin up and remember its not all serious!
Absolutely mad, his tps is out of this world, his solutions extremely creative and his solves are just satisfactory. I wasn't a fan of Yiheng before this match to be honest, but he has shown to be an absolute unit. Still I'm happy Matty won, I was rooting for him.
