First Generation Honda CR-V | The Godfather of all Crossovers | Featured Car Review | Philippines

  • If there was one single car model that we can all look back to and consider to be THE most important car in contemporary car culture and car market history, that would be the first-generation Honda CRV.
    During its time, sedans were the dominant cash cows of car companies, while SUVs we reserved only for those who can afford it. What started at Honda's design rooms as a mere raised Civic, blossomed into an entirely new segment, one that today has little but all eradicated the sedan market.
    With its rugged styling and clever engineering, Honda was able to tap into this entirely new segment and now despite being more than 2 decades old, the CR-V soldiers on and is poised to become a future classic.
    Thank you so much to Jeth Monton for sharing us his amazing ride! If you want us to feature your vehicle, visit our Facebook page and join our community!

    I bought a 98 crv for $2000, with 423 000 km on it. I'm at 430 000. LOVE IT.

    I want to have the gen 1 CRV as a 2nd car. I have the gen 2 before also and now have a 04 Civic as my daily drive. Most that are for sale here in Cebu have manual tranny. AWD manual with B20 engine would be great for road trips and mountain trips for me.
    I saw some review of this in the US with over 400,000kms on it and still running smooth. Gen 1 and gen 2 CRVs are the best for me.
    I also saw a review from luzon with a K swapped engine and converted 2WD, and for me the cost of the swap doesnt justify with the little difference in fuel effeciency you get with the vtec K20 engine.
    This is one of Honda's best cars made.

    I went from an great but old ‘85 Toyota Pickup with it’s legendary 22R Carb + Stick Shift to a “New” 2004 2nd Gen Honda CR-V with a 2.4L legendary Vtech Automatic made in Japan (Best assembly) with a merely broken in 80,000mi so it feels “tight” as you said in your video. My wife LOVES IT as you can imagine having sat in my truck for 6 yrs (since getting married). She also loves that we paid 50% Below Ave Market Price. That means we could Double Our Money 💰 Selling it Today!! Amazing ! But why would I do such a thing? What would I replace it with? Hummm?

    The Jeep XJ Cherokee is the real crossover OG. They were built as a unibody from day 1 in the nid 80s. The first gen Honda CR-V is a boss vehicle though.

      Did a bit of research on that and you're right, the XJ Cherokee predates all other softroaders, but I guess the CRV and RAV4 made it more accessible and mainstream.

    Looks perfect, very similar to what I'm planing to do. I have Opel Insignia 2010 at the moment but before that had a civic and looking forward to getting a 1st gen CRV.

      You can't go wrong with the 1st gen CR-V. Where we are, the prices for it are slowly trending up.

    What shocks did he use on front? S04 for EK? Ty

    • @mototelic
      @mototelic  ปีที่แล้ว

      From what I reckon S04 pertains to the OEM shocks of the Civic EK, right? If so that might be it :-)

    I have a ‘98, ‘99 (mine and the wife’s), and a 2000 parts car. Astounding vehicles for the price. They really respond real well to be taken care of.
