    Woody's home looks great!
    And he's obviously flourishing there.
Thank you for taking such good care of him, and for sharing his life with us.

I have enjoyed all of your videos so thanks for sharing. Just one thing that I’m sure you will be aware of and that is barbecue smoke is extremely harmful to birds. A neighbour of mine had a barbecue quite a long distance away from where my hawks and falcons were free lofted and the smoke blew into their enclosure. Every single one of them bought up their food. Luckily no real harm was caused Just something to be aware of.

That's interesting I didn't know this, luckily mine is gas so hopefully that is OK although I'm sure smoke of any kind could be harmful.
Very much appreciate the heads up, I will be mindful of this now.
      Cheers 👍

Really helpful seeing all the close up of the mews, shed and feathers. I asked about my hawks leg ring you pointed me in the right direction. Thank you. I don't yet know what the number 16 is as yet but the letters are 'Tommy Clarke & Nick Owen' I haven't found them anywhere so I am still wondering where George's life started. Will keep working on it.

It was through a guy who bought a couple of ferrets for his kids. Then he came back for his when they were 8 wks then he brought his mate to pick a couple and Ian and I invited him to fly his hawk. Then his business took off and George was offered to me. The guy Mike is planning a visit from Bristol to Powys some time soon.

At 5:28 you showed Woody laying on the shalf that you built for him! I can see that you were filming him from outside the aviary. That's definitely the best clip I've seen of the moult so far!
At 4:20, you said "In the Winter, he sleeps up there?" Do you want to know why he likes it up there when its cold? It is because hot air rises. It seems that hawks are smart enough to know that!
At 10:29 you admitted that Woody would have your fingers if you placed the food through the bars of his avairy, but in a previous video you actually showed him using his beak to take the food. Since Woody is still at fat weight in this video (I think), I doubt he's going to get aggressive with the food! You have no idea what his weight is because you didn't weigh him yet. If you present the pieces of chick from high to low when placing it through the bars, he would have no choice but to use his beak to take the food! And even if he does grab your fingers, I say SO WHAT!!!!!! Woody's a 1.8 lb Harris Hawk (if that's what his fat weight is). A Red Tailed Hawk weighs double that amount! Look up pictures of a Red Tailed Hawk's talons and tell me who's talons would hurt you more!
In spite of all this, I have now decided that I'm going to edit and post a video of Molly the hawk gripping on my pinkie with her talons (as she swooped) after I offered her a piece of bread! The bread was nowhere near where my pinkie was! I was holding it on my wrist between my 1st and 2nd fingers. So I know that was delibrately done!
At 15:41 Woody used his talons to grab the meat. Then he was skittish afterwards because he was possessive with his food! Its just a personal choice for him. I guess you can't really change that, now can you?
At 16:44 you counted 13 new primary feathers. I suppose you did something right with his diet with giving him more red meat. That's a 6% change. I can't suppose 6% is going to make a dent with his hunting.
At 16:01 its good to know that you don't count the catch. You just make sure he's well fed. Too many other Falconers are way too number driven. Like...for instance, someone may say that their hawk does 200 catches in a season, or 3 catches per day! Any less than that, a hawk is simple inadaquate! Once I become a Falconer, I will never let numbers get in the way if a hawk is strong or weak! If a hawk never catches anything for 1 week, I'm not going to blame the hawk for that! We will just keep trying until we win, even if it takes 5 hours to do so! The chances of winning all depend on the prey's condition, the weather, and the amount of experience the hawk has.
I really enjoyed the close ups of Woody's feathers in the end. I liked how the orange blended into brown at 20:15!

You have a lovely set up. I'm looking at a mews from 'box clever'. As a permanent housing. I would have preferred wood but not seen anything available. What ever I get will cost, I know that. Since last year I have moved to Wales hence the need for a new mews. George the HH is moulting out in Bristol where I have moved from. Do you have an opinion on Box Clever?

    • @freebirdofreason1994

Iv had no experience with box clever although they look ok, cleaning is easier I’m sure.
Please let me know how you get on.
You can always turn a large shed into a mews as I did.
Good luck with everything I’ll be interested to know your thoughts on box clever after you get it if that’s what you decide.
