Irina Babloyan, a former journalist with the Echo of Moscow radio station, which was taken off the air in Russia, continued to work on TH-cam. Followed and threatened, she decided to leave the country for Georgia, as the situation had become unbearable. It was when she began investigating a report on Ukrainian children being forcibly taken to Russia that she suddenly fell ill in late 2022. Although the test results from the German clinic have been lost, the symptoms are consistent with poisoning. She is now living in exile in Berlin.
