NOW THAT IS A COVER! Wow, wow.... now I gotta hear the original because Joe and Co. just killed this! If you have any other great Deep Purple songs or covers or Joe B. Songs I should check out, i'm open to suggestions...
You Fool No One, by Deep Purple from the California Jam. I've probably suggested it before, but that's because I think it is that good. Also check out Joe B with Black Country Communion.
You REALLY , REALLY need to listen to the original studio version (Impeccable awesome sound !! ) Also " Mistreated " live , album " Made in Europe ". I met Joe Bonamassa in person incredibly while working at a second hand store ( He was going to have a show at a theater a couple of blocks away ), he signed ( Initials ) on a guitar pic for a co worker. He bought some old records, and I made him smile when I sang : " Hey, Joe, where you're going with those records in your hand " :P
Jimmy Barnes or “Barnsey” as he is known in Australia has an incredible voice and is a massive legend over here. Lead singer for Cold Chisel plus had a very successful solo career. Definitely worth doing a deep dive into his catalog. Some recommendations… Jimmy sings Stone Cold with Joe Bonamassa, Good Times with INXS and When Something Is Wrong With My Baby with John Farnham.
The drummer was Anton Fig, the Dave Letterman band drummer for 30 years. Jimmy Barnes from Australia was the singer. Arlan Schierbaum was on organ, and the other guitarist was Brad Whitford (Aerosmith).
Wowser, I'm exhausted. Perfect pick, Robert K, just excellent. Everybody at the top of their game. Great reaction. L33, putting all in perspective. Blessings and peace to all. Rock on!!
Jimmy Barnes was the vocalist, he is a Aussie rock legend. It was Arlan Schierbaum on the keys, Anton Fig on drums and the late great Michael Rhodes on the bass. Also collaborating on this recording was Brad Whitford of Aerosmith fame. It's obvious to me that this is how world class musicians have fun.
Joe Bonamassa - lead guitar Jimmy Barnes - vocals Reese Wynans - keyboards Brad Whitford - lead guitar Michael Rhodes - bass Anton Fig - drums I watched Anton play almost every night for over a decade.... He played drums in The Worlds' Most Dangerous Band... David Letterman's house band Cheers!
@redzone77p That figures ... I had to look at a few different sources, but I wasn't too confident about that one ... Thanks... Any idea who the keyboardist is?
Michael Rhodes legendary bassist can probably count more songs he's not played on. RIP. Joe's catalog is huge. It depends on the flavor you are looking for. Studio version of Redemption or Live Hollywood bowl or etc
I don't care much for Deep Purple covers, but this is a great one. I believe Jimmy Barnes was considered as a replacement for Ian Gillan back in the 1990's, but I don't think he ever auditioned. It's a lot closer to the studio original than the way Deep Purple would perform it in concert, but it lacks the harmonica, and some of Ian Paice's swing. It was one of their best vehicles for spontaneity and Ritchie and Jon would change things quite a bit from night to night, so I tend to prefer the live takes over the one from Machine Head.
Brad Whitford took at least two turns at the lead but was barely shown. Granted, he’s used to being overshadowed by Joe Perry in Aerosmith, but I wish they had shown his hands more.

Jimmy Barnes is vocalist extraordinaire!!!!!, no idea who’s on the organ but he sure does look familiar

EVERY musician on this is a true MASTER
For more Joe Bonamassa check out Stone Cold with Jimmy Barnes and Riding With The Kings with Jimmy's daughter Mahalia

I thought that was Anton--he's a badass!
Thanks 👍
@@skydog6376 Anton?
@@RJ-oy7cq no….just thanking R.Gray for his post ✌️
@@skydog6376 gotcha!
That was amazing. What a great cover for a band that has hit or miss covers. Joe is one of the modern greats!
Joe Bonamonster is a Bad Man. This generations greatest Blues guitarist.
Joe keeps getting better and better. I can't remember when a cover gave me chills. Cool
Wowser, I'm exhausted. Perfect pick, Robert K, just excellent. Everybody at the top of their game. Great reaction. L33, putting all in perspective. Blessings and peace to all. Rock on!!
Yes, excellent pick! They all knew how to play! If you listen to Deep Purple s version, I'd say the studio version before The Made In Japan version!!

AWESOME VERSION 🔥🎸🎹🥁😍😁!!!
Michael Rhodes, on bass, passed away a couple of years...RIP. Who said Joe can't rock...puts that to rest. ARLAN SCHIERBAUM ON ORGAN.
Great cover Robert. Joe B is one of the elite guitarists for sure. Jimmy B is no slouch either.
Fantastic ... first time hearing this cover ... will listen again
Okay I'll be rewatching/listening to this a few times
Excellent 🔥
That's Brad Whitford from Aerosmith playing rhythm guitar and a nice solo too!
that was epic as fuck
Joe Bonamassa - lead guitar
Jimmy Barnes - vocals
Reese Wynans - keyboards
Brad Whitford - lead guitar
Michael Rhodes - bass
Anton Fig - drums

NOT WYNANS ON KEYBOARDS.

Arlan Schiebaum. He can play.
Michael Rhodes legendary bassist can probably count more songs he's not played on. RIP.

You should hear Purples version from Made in Japan! Iconic!
That was great.

They could have shown more of Brad Whitford doing his solos. Great cover though! 🙂
Brad Whitford from Aerosmith on the gold guitar
Jimmy Barnes on the Hammond?!? 🤣🤣🤣
great cover.... listen to the original on the Deep Purple "Made in Japan" album for comparison.
Try the live version on Made in Japan.
It's weird, I like everything I have heard by Deep Purple, but I only bought Machine Head. I think my favorite though is 'My Woman from Tokyo '.
See you got a Tull cap on. To Cry you a song, cover sung by Glenn Hughes. An album with JT covers " A Collection of Tull Tales". Play.
Brad Whitford took at least two turns at the lead but was barely shown. Granted, he’s used to being overshadowed by Joe Perry in Aerosmith, but I wish they had shown his hands more.
He can really play. He didn’t have many opportunities with Aerosmith but he can solo.
You can tell by the guitar tone when he’s playing.
Check lazy live from made in Japan..
Well, this doesn't compare to the original in any way. Good bet/attempt though :D
Okay I'll be rewatching/listening to this a few times
And commenting a few times, lol
