  • Soap making video for the Soap Challenge Club November 2020 - Mosaic Soaps : Beginner Category making moasic soaps.
Please always follow safety requirements while making soap! Sodium/Potassium hydroxide is caustic and can cause burns on skin or on mucous membranes!
Mosaic soaps were created by Leila Hazou from the Map Soaper and you can look at her amazing soaps here at: www.instagram....
She has more beautiful soaps made in her profile!
I love how this is another way to use your old soaps or unwanted soap, turning it into a completely new design! It is definitely a test to your colour matching skill too. It is best to use soaps of the same level to make your job easier but it will work either way. You can use this technique to create special patterns instead of geometric shapes.
The colourants I used in this video were:
    Black- Activated charcoal
    Time links to the video:
0:25 Cutting of the soap pieces
0:49 Securing the soaps onto the mould
    1:40 Making of the soap
    2:23 Pouring of the soap
    3:07 Smoothing of the soap
    3:40 Cutting of the soap
3:54 Cleaning up of the soap
    4:15 Finished photos
I like how the soap turned out where I have used similar colour toned old soaps for my design. It will be definitely be a good idea to not over blend your soap like me to make your job much much more easier!
Thank you Amy for organising such a challenge again. For more information about the Soap Challenge Club: soapchallengec...

You did a great job salvaging what could have been a disaster! The water seemed to loosen the batter enough to make it want to fall between the cracks when you shook it down on the table. I wouldn't have known from the final photo that you had such a thick batter! Glad you enjoyed the challenge - it's definitely nice to have another way to use up older soap bars!

When your black solution got "too far", why not just add more water and oil? Make it both thinner and more of it?

    • @TheScraftworks
      @TheScraftworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

I already added some water but adding more oil will definitely change the texture of the soap where it will be too much superfat and too soft!
