    My waterproof Merrell Moab 3 Mid boots are the bomb. I've worn these walking snowy trails in Colorado and hot humid summer trails in Texas. They provide great support and are incredibly comfortable.

      Thanks for your testimonial. I have a pair of these and am planning on hiking in the snow for a few days in the Sierra Nevada. Sounds like if I wear wool socks my feet should stay warm and dry, which is what I’m most concerned with in that kind of weather. 😉

      @@mr_galaxyninja2505 I just hiked in the snow with mine, but I did spray them with that Nickwax waterproofer before I went. I tested them in a bucket of water before i went and determined that a small amount of water leaked through the toes. So, after I sprayed them with the Nickwax, they didn't leak at all in the snow. ;-)

    I have new Moab 3. I am size 6 and bought size 6. There is no additional room beyond my toes (I have tried pushing my feet to the front and checking to see if there is a finger space at the back - there isn't). They feel great walking around my home, my foot doesn't slip. Maybe zi need to get next size up.

    • @UltimateSurvivalGear
      @UltimateSurvivalGear  ปีที่แล้ว

      Usually you notice the need for some extra space when you walk down hill, but it also depends on the overall fitment and foot shape.

    Wear them every day for a year. Come back and show us what you've got left.
    Not a lot in my experience. Merrells fall apart after 6 months of daily use. The soles become unstuck. The mesh breaks. The rubber toes split. My feet are always sweaty.
    It's all very well wearing them for a few weeks a year but when you wear them everyday as a traveller they do not last.
    They are very comfortable. The soles are great. But they don't last which is why I won't buy them again.
    I'm still looking for something that does last but I don't know what the answer is.
    Thanks for your review.

    These shoes have been great for me, EXCEPT, that the sole started squeaking, with every step. They are only about 8 months old too, and extremely light use. Went in today, where i bought them, and the warranty doesn't sound promising. The store, themselves, can do nothing. And it sounds like a waste of time sending them to Merrell. I switched back to Merrell, from Keen, but will likely be trying a different brand now.

    hi @Ultimate Survival Gear. I bought these just yesterday. I always wear 10, but these feel like an 11 or even 11.5. I ordered the wide, would that be the reason for them being so big. I thought that the wide ony increased toe box space.

      Might be a bit too warm for summer, but they do have low version, and if you don't care that much for waterproofing, it will be more breathable too, should work better for summer.

    • @UltimateSurvivalGear
      @UltimateSurvivalGear  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you! That's a really tough one! All three are awesome. If you prefer more spacious fit, then Moab 3, more narrow, tighter fit, then Salomon. I haven't had a chance to test out MK2 yet, but they original Zephyrs are fantastic as well, built like a tank, but a bit stiffer than Merrell and Salomon.

    • @jesusizquierdo3831
      @jesusizquierdo3831 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      the only difference is the mesh they use, I had a pair of Moab that had Merrell's proprietary membrane (like these ones) and they were waterproof for years, zero complaints there. It could stand rain and crossing poodles without any issue
      GTX stands for Gore Tex which is the most famous membrane maker there is, on paper it would be even more waterproof but also more prone to get "blocked" which means not as breathable, especially during hot summer days, but the comfort sensation varies from person to person
      If you are going to hike in summer I would even advice you to get the version without any membrane, far better to avoid water during hikes than to have a damp shoe, especially if your hikes are longer distances
