Walking in WUPPERTAL / Germany 🇩🇪- Elberfeld - 4K 60fps (UHD)

  • Wuppertal / Germany is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia in western Germany. Located in and around the Wupper valley (German: "Tal"), Wuppertal is known for its "Schwebebahn". This unusual train construction is a suspension monorail dating from 1901. At the time of recording the Schwebebahn only ran once a week on public holidays, the tracks are still visible all around the city center.
We start our walking tour of Wuppertal at the train station which is located at the southern city center. We walk via the new train station square northwards, crossing the Wupper river towards the city center with many shops. After a few minutes we are already at the Karlsplatz with the town hall (Rathaus).
From there we see some side street, the Rathaus Galerie shopping mall and much more of the city center.
We get to the northern part of the center passing the "Haus der Jugend Elberfeld" around half way through our walk with lots of graffiti around there, head back to the inner city on our way east.
Our tour continues towards the district of Ostersbaum, where the botanical garden is located. On that nice day we reach first the St. Marien church. Soon we continue uphill to the Hardt-Anlagen to reach the Botanical Gardens where we end our Wuppertal walking tour.

"Wo ist Abdullah?" That child pretty much summed up my impressions. And it is for the first time I see a church turned into a cafeteria. There is no doubt where all this will lead...

Thank you! Such cities are already on the channel:
      Halle (Saale): th-cam.com/video/_KoLrp0tZFs/w-d-xo.html
Dresden (several + more coming): th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=poptravel+dresden
You may also enjoy the Germany playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLaxUrZNxL7WIjMRmNovvVd3ZfEOpI8BdH.html where we are getting to over 100 videos by the end of the year
In general you may try to find videos by TH-cam search: poptravel + cityname . For several countries the list of bigger cities is complete. I will see to fill in some gaps soon. My website www.poptravel.org/videos/ also gives some good overview and a search function.

Thanks for the notice yet there is the § 23 KunstUrhG in Germany. This law allows public picture taking as long as the people are "accessory" to a scene. One condition is that people should not be the main subject of the image - as if they could be replaced by other people / bystanders without changing the picture's message. These walking videos seem OK under these terms. There are other restrictions as one cannot "exploit" situations nor privacy in general which the channel follows. If you think some part of the video should be changed, please let me know. I'm also following requests when somebody recognizes himself in the video and wants their face blured. My email is in the "About" page of the channel and there is an imprint link there as well. Thanks for watching!

An ugly downtown crammed with people, and a lovely park that's nearly empty? Oh well, to each their own I suppose. In September 2020 (when this was shot) there were, on average, nine Germans dying from COVID-19 each day. By January there were nine hundred. It's clear from watching this that most people were getting careless, thinking that it was all over. And I'll bet the exact same thing happens again this year. Sad. 😷
