One of my family's holiday traditions that my mother started was that we made a handmade gift for everyone. It's fun to see on Christmas Day the creativity of everyone. I started the tradition with my grandchildren that they each get a personalized ornament from me to hang on their tree. I got the bug with my first embroidery machine, and I love doing ITH designs. A big thank you to Jeanne for all of the videos and great advice.
favorite holiday tradition is: being with family; drawing names for secret santa. we miss all that cuz kids are too busy for celebrating family. So our new tradition is having friends come over or going to their places and learning about their traditions; holding hands and giving thanks to GOD.

My favorite holiday tradition is that as soon as the Thanksgiving dinner dishes are washed, we start Christmas music, bust out the Christmas Tree, and start decorating for Christmas. Christmas really is the best time of the year!

I love going to the Christmas Eve candlelight service at our church. Also our children participated in Christmas Nativity plays every year. The girls dressed up as angels and the boys as shepherds. I made their costumes. Wonderful, sweet memories!

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is to have my grandchildren and children come to my house and we make several different kinds of goodies to give as Christmas gifts. We make fudge, Peanut butter balls, Ritz crackers with peanut butter on the inside and dipped in chocolate. We also make and decorate Christmas sugar cookies!! The grandkids love learning to make these goodies and have so much fun!!!
My favorite tradition is to spend time with family. We get up early and start working on dinner which will be a small gathering this year, because my husband will be recovering from surgery. We have have turkey for Thanksgiving. On Christmas we have Prime Rib and Yorkshire Pudding YUM YUM. Happy Holidays to all!

Everyone had an assignment, my mom was usually the runner as she didn’t care what people thought of her. lol Those days are gone but it brings happy memories.
I have so many favorite Holiday traditions… I guess one of my favorites is decorating the tree with my kids… although my kids are grown and live in other states, so no longer around the help me 😢. But, the next best is just having family time together when they come to town. Baking cookies and other holiday treats… making Christmas dinner and then having Christmas morning, enjoying “present time”!
My favorite holiday tradition for Christmas is our Christmas Eve celebration. We always have bagna cards. It is so good, it's a hot dish made with butter, olive oil tons of garlic and anchovies. You simmer it for hours until the anchovies dissolve, then you cook steak and veggies like a fondue, so good and so much fun. We've done this for years such a great time with family and friends.
My oldest daughter lives in New York City, and my youngest son is in Oakland, California. My middle son is here with two boys. This year, all of our traditions seem to have gone out the window. This year we will have a new tradition of getting everyone together on a Teams meeting to connect. My kids love the Bubble Bread recipe from the 80's and each will make their own.
My favorite tradition is getting together with all the ladies in the family and having a baking day Thanksgiving weekend. We may gift baskets for the all the neighbors and co-workers (and of course goodies for the spouses).

My favorite holiday tradition is opening 1 present on Christmas Eve, which is always a toy, puzzle or game, and we all play together while Christmas movies are on in the background. We still do it every year even though the kids are all grown now.
For Thanksgiving (in October in Canada) we would all gather at our cottage with the leaves changing colour. It would seam magical. For Christmas we would go to Granny's house when we were little, then my Mom took over and for the last numerous years we celebrate at my sisters with my nephews and my niece and now it includes spouses and great nieces and a great nephew. It's always been about family and catching up with one another. The food is always great!
My favorite holiday tradition is the breakfast my daughter makes for everyone available to come Christmas morning. She makes the best omelettes and we always have mimosas!
Holiday traditions have changed as my kids grew up. The one constant is decorating my house and tree. I grew up in SoCal, and spent a lot of time at Disneyland. Mickey Mouse is my absolute favorite character. I started collecting Mickey Mouse ornaments as a teen. I bought an ornament every trip to the park. It took me about 20 years to collect enough Mickey ornaments to be able to decorate the tree with ONLY Mickey. Now, 40ish years later, I decorate a 7’ tree with only Mickey, but I’ve added. I have several Disney villages, several standalone Mickey Santas, and I continue the tradition of adding an ornament each year.
Favorite holiday tradition: Having family here to open presents, eating prime rib, and to watch my son SLEEP all day except for eating and opening presents !
My favorite holiday tradition is having all our kids and grandkids with us. On Thanksgiving the girls all watch the Macy’s parade and cheer for the Rockets. On Christmas we wear matching pj’s all day from brunch to dinner playing games, working puzzles, and watching Harry Potter!
It used to be the times that we kids all traveled from our distant homes to all be together and celebrate Christmas at our parents house. Now so many of our family has passed and we miss all of that togetherness. Miss the times we spent together baking and preparing all the goodies and of course eating them. So now new generation, and new types of celebrations. I miss the times when i would make loads of candy for family and boxes of it for the neighbors. Another is going to Midnight Mass on Christmas eve and enjoying all the beauty and pagentry of the church.

Every year I would buy a ornament for baby Jesus and our son would get to open it on Christmas Eve. I miss those days. My Husband working as a police officer, he would have to work on Christmas sometime, but we would make it fun for our son. The stocking were my favorite. I stuff the stockings and I still do that.

A family tradition for thanksgiving is creating a pilgrim scene. We build a log cabin with Lincoln logs from the 1930s. They were my mother inlaw’s from when she was a child.

To answer Patrick, the kids are coming over for dinner and hopefully playing games. Next year we are going to go the Duck club because my Mom will come for dinner there. Marty's family used to go camping for Thanksgiving and yes, they had turkey and all the fixings in those tiny little trailers. They lined up their camp tables and ate dinner in their heavy coats. Friday night they had leftovers. Saturday night was lasagna and pizza made in the little camper oven. I love the fall colors. I like also that it is the time of year to be thankful and grateful. Tradition is homemade pie for any request of the family. A lot of work especially the pumpkin is from the garden. Appetizers are a must!
Family traditions for us is celebrating Christmas on the Saturday before Christmas sharing stockings, opening gifts and then dinner. Table games or all the kids go to the sewing studio and sew from the scrap basket. I have a sewing machine for each grandchild so they all can sew. 9 grandchildren but one is a baby so he doesn't sew yet, but all the other boys and girls love to sew. They have made their own creative projects in the past.
One of my traditions is to make spritz butter cookies like I used to make with my grandmother. Then there is the milky way cake, sugared pecans, peanut butter balls, fudge, creme de mint brownies, chocolate covered cherries and several more yummy things.
When they were younger, the kids got to pass out gifts to everyone and we would all open them one person/gift at a time to make sure everyone got to see what the person received. That way they could thank the giver of the gift.

We are participating in community thanksgiving at our legion post this year - we bring dish to pass and they have the turkeys cooked. We of course visit with family too!

One of our traditions is to always watch Muppets Christmas Carole as we put up our Christmas tree. Another is to put $1 scratch offs under everyone's plate around the Christmas table. We call it our annual contribution to the state :)

Counting Christmas lights. After Thanksgiving dinner on our drive home we count the # of houses with Christmas lights. We do this every time we are out through Christmas night. We compare the number of lights each night.
My holiday plans are the day after Halloween I automatically turn into the grinch. My heart is two sizes two small this time of year. I’ve learned a long time ago that nobody cares what I think, it’s all about them so I am Grinch until after the new year.

We celebrate Hanukkah at my home. My favorite holiday tradition is making brisket and latkes for the first night of Hanukkah.

My favorite holiday tradition is every year my family that’s about 12 of us come to my house and we make Christmas cookies and I have Christmas aprons made for them this year I made baking memories from Kimberbell We whisk you a Merry Christmas book they turned out so good
One of our traditions is to always watch Muppets Christmas Carole as we put up our Christmas tree. Another is to put $1 scratch offs under everyone's plate around the Christmas table. We call it our annual contribution to the state :)
I will drive 12 hours to be with family in north, will do Thanksgiving early at home for family the live here, get to see all and enjoy all the family and grandchildren

Counting Christmas lights. After Thanksgiving dinner on our drive home we count the # of houses with Christmas lights. We do this every time we are out through Christmas night. We compare the number of lights each night.
My holiday plans are the day after Halloween I automatically turn into the grinch. My heart is two sizes two small this time of year. I’ve learned a long time ago that nobody cares what I think, it’s all about them so I am Grinch until after the new year.
