This song is an unparalleled masterpiece by a revolutionary artist and unique in the history of kpop, something that hasn't been repeated, even so far, the artistic level above this stunning music video that doesn't have the same in K-pop, you mentioned some interesting points, but from the masks scene can be different impressions, especially I believe those black tears from the mask of the heart-breaker album pains of the years GD that all of his existence is. And these pains were hidden behind the mask, he decided to show all those pains by breaking the mask, the pain of not really being heard, not being seen, being judged

One thing I noticed many reactors missed out. The line when he said this song is a spoiler he sang bang bang bang and bullshit which were released in 2015 and 2017. How mind blowing when u think about it cause he released this song in 2013. It means he's already making the songs that he released years later back in 2012/2013

At first he is sitting in a booth, looking annoyed, waiting to sell tickets while ppl try to force their way thru. That's his view on his life as a celebrity. Sure he is cooking money but the media is blind, doesn't see the real him. Everyone takes shots at him. His first solo album at first got a plagiarism controversy, it was a huge scandal, he was harassed for years, there was graffiti on the streets with insults towards him and they went as far as to make a petition for him to commit suicide. The album's promo included a white mask modeled after his face. So at the end we can see that Heartbreaker mask (his younger self) cry black tears and from those tears, from that pain, a dark creature is born, one that is cynical and snarling. But he doesn't remain like this, he sheds his skin, throws that stone and at the end emerges as the lider of the revolution.»

His entire suit is black. He stands in a puddle of the inky tears. But when we see his face we know that he isn’t crying. If anything, he looks menacing and near demonic. This is the point where everything builds up-love, music, fans, culture, money, performance, criticism, media-and we see the disparity between the person he’s supposed to be and the person that’s hidden beneath it. Coup d'etat is G-Dragon's personal revolution ( the revolution is not televised, its in your mind)
1. The old man is G-Dragon ( as shown by his shoulder tattoo). His creativity has beconme old and tired, he has to tear off his old skin to reveal a new G-Dragon. In order to have new creative ideas he has to break through the barriers of his current artistic state of mind (throwing a stone at the huge wall and light shines through).
2. He is surrounded by reporters who are all blind-folded. They don't really care to know him for who he really is. They are blinded by their own biases. Now its GD who is blind-folded and being executed with bullets. Its the media taking aim at him, with their sensationalistic articles on him. He is wearing a plaque mask and the reporters have turned into crows. The mask is to protect himself from the toxic media.
3. GD is cooking money. He is making a lot of money but he considers himself poor in terms of time (1 year 365 days Hong Gildong's mysterious skill- Hong Gildong is a famous korean novel character who has the magic to travel long distances in a short time. His phone is perpetually ringing)
4. He knows he's good (I'm so fresh so clean, I compete with the laundry, my flow's so sick), he calls out all the GD copycats (with my one song, you'll have to quit. In this game, I'm the professional cardsharp, you're an amateur)
5. The white tree is the tree from the Heartbreaker mv and the apples from Heartbreaker are now rotten. The GD from Heartbreaker era is over and he needs to have a new re-birth.
6. The white mask is the album cover for Heartbreaker, his first solo album. When he removes the mask, he is a demon underneath, showing that he is being portrayed in the media as being evil, evidenced by all the scandals from Heartbreaker era.
7. GD is inside a ticket booth with a label 'Shine A light' which is his first solo concert based on Heartbreaker. Then GD is in a dressing room being electrocuted. This refers to the scandal regarding his Breathe performance where people attacked him that it was too sexual. Allso the alleged Flo Rida plagiarism scandal. Flo Rida publically announced that there was no plagiarism and he and GD performed together at FR's concert.
8. Because of these scandals, there were vicious petitions by knetz for 21 y.o. GD to commit suicide. This ties in with the black tears raining down the white Heartbreaker mask which is GD's sadness at how people criticise him for everything.

This MV could've been released today & many would not notice its a 2013 masterpiece. The King well ahead of his time.
To put it in simple, this song is about his coup / revolution / rebellion towards kpop entertainment / idols system / the industry. Red ladies = red flags, coup flags. The room with kettels = his mind, inner self. Boiled waters = anger, tension, emotion. Shadows outside = vultures = reporters at the table = the world wants to invade his personal life. The wall = the system that trapped and forced him to meet the standard. The stone that brake the wall = his music, the song is his coup d'etat. The white mask = the bland good boy = what he did to met the standard / expectation. The black tears = his inner self boiled through. He is in black tint = he shows his rebel self opposing the system, seen by others as the devil / bad / deviant.
And also the scene where when he sees he can't speak then he can speak but he's blindfolded, he refers to the artists inside the industry they don't have freedom, and the scene where he's black shows that he's the outcome of all the tears that dropped from the masks, there's a lot of symbolism going on if you pay attention, btw thanks for the reaction 🔥
There's so many meaning behind the MV its hard to disect some says it is pertaining to the norms of the KPOP entertainment industry and the other being GD’s personal life.
GD is way ahead of his time the cinematography,music style,wardrobe, He is a true ARTIST nobody is doing it like him. Inspiring everyone since Day 1. And like the quote says "its okay if your bias is not Gdragon, your bias's bias is him"

He is breaking away from the heartbreaker album. His 1st album is more typical kpop album and is more controlled by the company. He is also staging a revolution on the then considered acceptable in korea when it comea to music and who should make music and what should be made.
There had been a lot of hate on GD and BIGBANG after controversies. Journalists write things while being blind to what is real nor do they care. They can shoot at him but nothing will hit because they are blind.

Always love more BIGBANG as well as member solos and sub units. BIGBANG and members have often used their music to express their feelings about things that have happened to them. I think artists probably really need this, as it is not easy for them to put out their own undistorted responses to media and public accusations. It must be unbearably frustrating.

GD IS the king of kpop. new kpop stans don't realize how he set the standard for soooo many kpop idols, about being more creative, producing and writing their own songs, but I also noticed that many idols have the same facial expressions and style of dancing on stage as him, same style of rapping or voice, originality in their styling, etc
in "shake the world" he spoke about kpop not being taking seriously in 2013 !!!

haven't watched yet: wanted to add that this song was ONE OF THE FIRST to use such a heavy trap beat it just wasn't happening barely in the Korean rap scene nonetheless KPOP. there's a real reason for him to be still considered a GoD
What i like abt the Bigbang rapline is how they expressed themselves. Since the beginning they've been doing their thing and its so groundbreaking as " idol" rappers. With Doom Dada too you could tell they're fr not like others. And their influence is crazy, you could see that Gd birthed many sons in the industry and many companies tried to have their own Gd even the female rappers. People who dont think that Gd is on of the best are in denial
