Ive been scouring youtube the past couple weeks looking for literally this exact video to see how the idog stacks up against the teebird. Perfect timing. Kasta noticeably changed with their lack of creative molds as you mentioned, as well as the plastic becoming more...flimsy it seems. Pre HOD Kastaplast was just amazing. I still try to snag as many discs from that time as i can, as theyre still my favorite manufacturer. Thanks for the great content week after week! Idog going back in the bag!!
This is spot on, the old pop topy big X grym X, the stable to overstable and long flying big Z Kaxe Z, the old PFN gryms that were stiff and had some stability at the end of the flight, I do love the new Idog, and much of kastas lines and the glow plastic especially, but you aren't kidding, pre HOD discs have become a bit of an addiction for me
Didn’t they say they wouldn’t be changing anything like that when HOD took over? Yeah, I didn’t think that was going to hold true… or am I wrong? I don’t throw them but I thought I heard that.
You did good pronounce the Kastaplast names Greg! If you skip the "e" at the end of Idog, you got it absolutely spot on. IdoG. I would love for you to take a look at the "beach discs" like the MVP Glitch vs the Beetle from Latitude 64. Thank you for sharing!
I find my Idog is a great complement to my Teebird3. It definitely has some flip up and slight ride to the right before a reliable fade. Also the Idog is becoming a go to for sky anhyzer backhand shots. It reliably holds the line without burning over or rolling out at the end. I bag a Berg, Idog, Lots, Alva and putt with Rekos.
I've just had a couple related ideas for videos: 1. What discs fly best upside down? (stemming from my desire to see how the Neon flies upside down) 2. What discs fly best thrown thumber/tomahawk? 3. What discs fly best thrown grenade?
The new Streamline Range has been a scoober workhorse for me since it came out due to its neutral low glide flight! Previously used the Innova Animal in that spot. Both are predictable upside down for me!
I've thrown a lot of backhand thumbers with the Neon. It flies similar to normal but less glide, a little more overstable, catches the wind easier (probably because it flips sideways faster) and gets a LOT of groundplay thrown on hyzer. handy for getting over the top of trees or big skips on approach shots. on standard approaches I've found it's better to throw regular way up, upsidedown can be unpredictable. i love the Neon, it can genuinely do any shot inside 180 feet
Please start showing some forehand throws! Most forehand shots have less spin but more early power. This makes discs more likely to turn early on forehands. It's important to know how well discs stand up to this. Especially 7/2/0/2 ish discs. Stable but not wildly overstable are inconsistent in whether they resist turning early and/or finish with a stronger fade. Example: I think the Bear has a stronger end fade than a Volt, but it turns more easily initially when thrown with the average player's forehand. Some players call this "torque resistance," but it's actually low spin to power ratio. Since torque is rotational force, this name makes no sense. Maybe we should call it "Resistance to low torque."
Another fantastic video. Thank you! I've only messed around with the Berg and Lots. I can take or leave them. Neither are currently in my bag. I bought a color glow Skywalker too and mine is straight beef!
i bag a kaxe, stig and a vass, all of them are great molds! Out of box Vass is like a perfectly beat in DD3, stig is perfect understable midrange and in my experience the furthest flying midrange too.
I bag the Falk, Järn, Reko (K1 soft, one of the best approach putters in the game) and the OG KaxeZ. All I want is the RekoX to be made in K3 Hard so I can putt with it in warm months.
FINALLY THEY DID THE VID ON THE EEEEDOOOG? E DOOG? EY DOUG? IDOG?! Who knows, its a great disc! I dk understand the point of the HOD merger being really unfortunate, its affected the glow line, the plastic firmness, the mold intentions (which is definitely not all a bad thing, they needed a mystere copy, and a teebird copy, but its not exactly like it was before), and even the colours and stamp styles. But one thing that i am happy about is that it will be bringing the price down hopefully sooner than later. As a Canadian getting kasta can be, well a bit expensive. Shipping and dutys and the like. Its exhausting. Kastaplast needs to make more runs bigger, so more people can get the chance at discs they want, most special kasta doesnt even come to my brick and mortar! We got the luke Sampson nord finally recently and the stacey berg X but thats it!
I bought a KaxeZ, a Gote, and a Svea in July of 2022...the KaxeZ and Svea live in my bag. Fabulous discs. The Gote rotates in and out, mostly out. I haven't purchased any Kastaplast since, only because I like to try different brands, and I only buy a few discs a year.
I don't recall seing you include it in any comparisons but I'm really enjoying my new Echo. Have it in Neutron, and in Glow (glow is on the overstable side)
...and further back the Piranah! Bring it back Innova! ;D Your pronaunciation is great, You can feel free to lose the actual "h" sound at the end of Idog, just don't lose the thought of if in which case the american accented "g" can sound weird ;P Btw, the Berg is supposed to have a low dome in the middle in K1-plastic at least! (Just look at the PDGA Approval, the Black and Mint pictures) Not possible on the K3 and lost on the K1/K2(K1 Soft) nowadays. The Älva, Göte is sooooo on my top 10 to buy and Stig is just an MVP (*pun*) in the bag unless a headwind ;D
That Kastaplast rounded out their lineup to match traditional demand after the sale to House of Discs is okay by me. How many of their previous releases were hits? Here's hoping this won't stifle future innovation.
Picked up a ice blue whatever first run. It is in the bag fighting and probably losing for the spot against my mint sublime grackle... inconsistent turn for me...
couple lots,(glow and k1 hard) reko x in k1 and k3. tried a lot of others, these have stuck. I have a Guld that also refuses to leave the bag. still like'em even post HOD.
I really wanted to bag only Kastaplast, but I found their flights to be inconsistent especially on their distance drivers. The only predictable flight I get is from the Nord and I love it in that slightly straighter than a pyro slot. I got about 3 rounds in before the Idog started flipping more than I was expecting. I want to love all their discs but they work themselves out of the bag.
the new manger of house of discs was on the upshot recently saying that Discmania and Kasta still have their own unique plastics but i am not buying it. the k3 rekos do not feel nearly as good as they used to me and feel much more like BT or Classic.
Great content. I bag a Järn and a BergX. Are they replaceable? Not yet, although I am thinking that the Neon may make a convincing argument. Also, I have been looking for a glow Warship and was thinking that the Svea may fit that bill until House of Discs decides to put one out.
I've only just started experimenting with Kastaplast. I love the feel of their discs but everything I throw seems to be really flippy. I got the GULD thinking it would be a decent stable driver, but I flys more like a -2, 1. I have a power arm for sure but maybe I'm not good at controlling the power with Kastaplast... OR I just need a heavier weight. Idk. Does anyone else have this issue with Kastaplast being too flippy? I typically throw a DD1 174g with an average 450 distance.
I'm sorry, but I don't like most of their new drivers. I'll be rocking my Grym x for life as my main stable driver. Imo the Vass is closest to the Grym-x, the Guld is much more stable.
Kastaplast lineup - stable putter: Reko, overstable approach: Jarn, straight mid: Gote and Svea, stable fairway: Kaxe Z, overstable 9 speed: Stal. What didn't the cover the you said they didn't cover?
The sale to HOD ruined Kastaplast IMO. The plastic isn’t as good, the molds are no longer unique, the glow is sub standard now whereas it used to be the gold standard.
I'm just going to say it, Six Sided Discs is making the best disc golf content on youtube.
The production of Six Sided Discs is above most of the crowd, for sure!
I just wrote a research paper in my college English class regarding CNC discs. I used Greg’s video on ProtoFlyte since he’s so informative

Well said, and thank you for saying it. It's sad to see corporate acquisitions just making disc golf boring instead of full of ingenuity and ambition.
I miss their pre HOD plastic, especially their base plastics. Also the old Kaxe Z is money
I still don't know why they discontinued it. By far my favourite disc
Damn the Kaxe Z is amazing. My Falk is still the most used disc in my bag by far though, just before my Champ Mako3.

The k1 plastic from HoD is not the same as the early runs of k1. The newer version is softer. As a disc dyer you really notice the difference

Another great video! Thanks!
How about a deep dive into Westside next?
I've just had a couple related ideas for videos:

Kastaplast is my favorite brand to throw. Everyone needs a beefy K1 Lots in their bag
Please start showing some forehand throws!
Most forehand shots have less spin but more early power. This makes discs more likely to turn early on forehands. It's important to know how well discs stand up to this. Especially 7/2/0/2 ish discs. Some players call this "torque resistance," but it's actually low spin to power ratio. Since torque is rotational force, this name makes no sense. Maybe we should call it "Resistance to low torque."
I’m convinced it’s a rebranded instinct. I threw it next to my bagged instinct and I legitimately couldn’t tell a difference
Another fantastic video. Thank you! I've only messed around with the Berg and Lots. I can take or leave them. Neither are currently in my bag. I bought a color glow Skywalker too and mine is straight beef!

All I want is the RekoX to be made in K3 Hard so I can putt with it in warm months.
I bag an idog and a star teebird. The teebird is a little beefier so they do actually give me different looks and are both very reliable.
FINALLY THEY DID THE VID ON THE EEEEDOOOG? E DOOG? EY DOUG? IDOG?! Who knows, its a great disc! You can always rely on Six sided to give you professional educational entertainment.
Bagged Star Teebirds for nearly 20 years and still do. The Idog is sweet.
The Idog is awesome!
Instant thumbs up for the pronunciation effort! (You can just say 'barry' and it's fine 😉)
Kasta died when that guy kept pointing to his kastaplast branded beanie during the post win interview 😂
I bought a KaxeZ, a Gote, and a Svea in July of 2022...the KaxeZ and Svea live in my bag. Fabulous discs. The Gote rotates in and out, mostly out.

Piranha is still the best wind putter ever made, at least the first two versions of it.
I would love to see a westside Bear vs. Passion video, " Is it always a passion?
Take a look at supersonic disc from denmark!
That Kastaplast rounded out their lineup to match traditional demand after the sale to House of Discs is okay by me. How many of their previous releases were hits? Here's hoping this won't stifle future innovation.
Even as a swede I find it hard to pronounce this as anything other than iDog
Yes! Saying it in English is better!
Interesting and thank you for the insight.
Picked up a ice blue whatever first run. It is in the bag fighting and probably losing for the spot against my mint sublime grackle... inconsistent turn for me...
I'm just gonna say it... Teebird is the best 7 speed disc on the market
couple lots,(glow and k1 hard) reko x in k1 and k3. tried a lot of others, these have stuck. I have a Guld that also refuses to leave the bag. still like'em even post HOD.
The main thing that changed was Joey Buckets kicking ass and taking names!
I'm fairly certain that Berg is their most sold disc. Just saying!
the new manger of house of discs was on the upshot recently saying that Discmania and Kasta still have their own unique plastics but i am not buying it. the k3 rekos do not feel nearly as good as they used to me and feel much more like BT or Classic.

What didn't the cover the you said they didn't cover?
I've heard that there glow has fallen off since they sold out.
The sale to HOD ruined Kastaplast IMO. The plastic isn’t as good, the molds are no longer unique, the glow is sub standard now whereas it used to be the gold standard.
RIP KaxeZ
Love your videos, but you gotta get a proofreader. That image that starts @2:32 has "Midrange" misspelled. 😬
Kasta what?
