So I now own a VFL Comp 2k thanks to Big Jeff Audio ($181 on sale!!!!) Needless to say these are COMPETITION AMPLIFIERS!!!! That being said wire that bad boy to 0.5 ohm! Nobody in competition is buying amps and running them by their rating. It definitely a 2k amp just depends on how you want to use it. I will try and setup a video of SMD AMM1 on it in near future as well

They have this amp labeled as a comp amp rated at 2K RMS for about $270. I have the vfl 4800.1 d it's rated at 2400 RMS. It doesn't quite hit 2400 but it does over 2,000 at a price of only $215 NEW. Back when I got my 4800.1, the comp 2K was on sale for $220. I chose against the comp because it had a lower power rating at a higher price😱. A lot of times people get caught up in the name rather than take 2 minutes to read the specs😵. KEEP IT UP BRO👍👍! WE'RE TUNED IN!

I cant abide dynamic power tests anymore..it makes ya feel like your getting some huge power..The real number to hang your hat on is the uncertified in my opinon.
The vfl comp amps catch a lot of criticism for not doing rated power but at the end of the day I would love to see how they do on a reactive load and also a sound quality test. Maybe it only does 1900 watts but sounds 2x better doing it 🤔 just food for thought. Still very happy with my VFL Comp 8k that I paid $1300 for 🤷 sometimes it's about what you like 😎 PS are we really crying over 100 watts?? There are SO many variables that could make that 100+/- watts. If it 14.4 volt rated and it goes below 14.4 then that technically isn't a true rated power testing. Alot of American Bass amps are based around competition and in competition we use 15-16+ volts to start and drop down to 14.8 (ideally).... Maybe it's just that's these amps aren't for people on a budget... And that's OK 😅
PS at $181 dollars that was still at or less then 10¢ a watt by budget standards. And they are Korean built not no Chinese Amazon/eBay amp. They are also very sexy in appearance 🥵
thats the cheap vfl they have a high end one the 1500 is like 475. but for the price you still getting a good amp making over 1800 rated for 2k is good. and i have not seen to many amps test certified on the dyno make the numbers. uncertified yes dynamic yes but certified nope only a few and they were all over 350$ but good test glad you doing them. i have audiopipe APK 2500 and if rocks dont know if its 2500 but it sure feels and sounds like it. runnung 2 american bass xfl 15s
Sucks how this industry is so spotty. I've had major manufacturers like DC Audio come up short on power at 15.32 volts. Some of the units over perform while others come up short with the exact same internals
john wagner I've noticed the same thing just from watching dyno tests. The most impressive Dyno test I've seen, was the Orion xtr2500.1d. It did ridiculous amounts of power way over rated. So.... I had to have that amp. Now that's what I'm using and it is a beast. Technically I got the updated version of it. The xtr2500.1dz not just 2500.1d. It's supposed to be even more powerful.

It did well over rated at all ohm loads but yes, when big d wiz dropped the ohms down(not recommended of course) it did almost 7000 watts dynamically at .5 or .8 I don't remember which. My "birth sheet" for my xtr2500.1dz says it's 2983 watts rms @ 12.6v/1ohm and it def does that and more. Amazing amp.

Idk if you watched any of my videos but I'm running a single hcca 152 in a 4cf box tuned 32hz on the xtr2500.1.... in a single cab f250 lol no blow through haha. This amp is very similar to the vfl comp 100.1 with some changes to caps, input, output transistors and a few other components. With good electrical, this amp should put up some pretty impressive numbers at 1/2 ohm. Ryan Blankenship on the wolfram and a few other amps that have zenon boards, why aren't you testing them at a 1/2 ohm?
Thanks for the test. I was going to order the COMP-5K but if your test is any indication then it also won't live up to the hype. Instead I ended up getting two Orion XTR 2500.1Dz's for substantially less. Btw, what is the background music you use in your videos (sounds dope).
I'm still running the single Kicker zx2500 below remanded at 1ohm. I just like the surprise factor with that amp. But I'm going to upgrade power eventually after I get my flex issues straighten out

Sad ... a buddy at a show last week with two mechman 370’s , 2 Xs Lithium 15k’s, was only getting 6000 - 7000 Watts out of the vfl audio 18k.. Yeah his rise might have been bad on that frequency but no way he would ever see 10k out of it ...this is an 18,000 watt amp or supposed to be! I mean 1250 amps at 14.4 is a ton of amperage but with 1080 Amps on tap from the lithium + 700 amps from the mechman he should have been seeing insane wattage! He definitely has the electric to back up the amperage and the VFL was severely underperforming.
You should try a American bass vfl 80.1 or 100.1 I'm sure you would get better results. And I miss my orion xtr 1500 I got a sundown 3k atm and I love it but I want an orion hcca 5000.1d lol.

Just looked at the video with the Phantom 4000D. The db drive A7 2000.1 is 0guage power inputs. I believe you are thinking about the db drive A7m 2000.1

Test the American bass vfl 100.1 and up and see what you get. What you just tested is a cheap ass knock off. Google American Bass 100.1 and up so you can see the real ones. The real VFL's are silver.
im just wishing, man there site says (vfl hybrid 150.4) continuous power 150x4 @ 2 ohm so im thinking thats like 600 rms buy it an the box says 600 watts max so im confused

NO GOOD TEST ! This test is not complete. It is necessary to show how many volts (drop) the amplifier is when it produced this power (WATTS). It is not seen in the Video. It may have dropped to 11V. that model produces 2K in 14.4V FIX according to the Manufacturer. Show the voltmeter and Ammeter when you do the Test please. Thnx.
American Bass amps are power hungry! Input voltage for this amp is up to 16 volts, fuse rating is 180 amps. Your power supply is specd at 150 amps. Feed this amp 15+ volts and enough amperage and see what it does. This is a serious competition amp..... Serious competitors do NOT run these amps at 14 volts. If you don't give this amp it's rated voltage and current, how can you expect it to make it's rated power? Starve a racehorse, then ask it to run the Kentucky Derby.........
I'll have to disagree with that comment. You see TH-cam videos of systems and competitions all the time and usually people are happy if they can maintain 14.4 volts. Most don't change over to a 16 volt system. I mean, they do it but not alot. Also the amps ratings are @ 14.4 volts so.... there's that. Just because it can be run at up to 16 volts doesn't mean you have to give it that to do rated power. It's absolutely NOT a "serious competition amplifier" it's a serious budget amplifier with phony ratings. Booooooooo!

You know the whole shabang I went all out except alternator cuz I have a good one already. I honestly expected way louder than a 152 and I can't get that 152 back again either for some reason lol.
I've said once and I'll say it again.....no thanks brah , I'll stick with my boss onyx, at least I know that I'm being lied to .....you know what? I'll mail you my amp to have you run it with in its advertised perimeters and if it pops then , oh well its a boss , I'll spend another $120.00 . It will fail horribly at reaching its advertising but as fail to fail I think the boss is a much better lie per fail per dollar than this vfl .

What i dont understan is the vfl comp 2k take a 180 amp fuse but the 2.5k comp takes a 150 amp fuse. Just wonder whats it dose

Well I guess if you need a budget 1500 watt amp you know what to get. This amp would be perfect for powering my DB drive 6.5 3k subs.
you can't knock much I mean 104 watts off that's still not that bad you wouldn't even notice a 100w difference.

I have been in the competition circuit a lot longer than a lot of these competitors have been born...... and I GUARANTEE you, that I can totally embarrass some of these "so called" competitors using these amps. TH-cam videos aren't the definitive proof......... I did a 154.1 back in the distant past (2002) with equipment that no one believed could do it.... (American Bass) two twelves and one 1200 watt amp! I got TWO of these amps pushing two twelves right now, and I KNOW what they are capable of...... anybody who doesn't believe me, put your money where your mouth is, and I will meet you at any sanctioned db drag event in the U.S.A. and prove it to you.

J Payne right on bud hey I haven't ever even competed at all. I'm just saying the majority of what I see is people trying to keep a steady 14.4. I'm not denying that if you boost up the juice it will do good nor am I saying it's poor quality. American bass makes great stuff for sure. They just shouldn't be lying about ratings. Just rate it at what it really does. People will still buy it cuz it's good quality. Just silly to me why they would ever muddy up their good rep lying n shit lol. Also in reality any true basshead knows... It's all about the box. So you can definitely get big numbers on a budget and with not thaaaat much power. What you see in my profile pic on here is the highest I've got my system so far. With 1 hcca 15 and Orion xtr2500.1dz, xs power and another platinum something or other battery that is a beast. You know the whole shabang I went all out except alternator cuz I have a good one already. I honestly expected way louder than a 152 and I can't get that 152 back again either for some reason lol.

I've said once and I'll say it again.....no thanks brah , I'll stick with my boss onyx, at least I know that I'm being lied to .....you know what? I'll mail you my amp to have you run it with in its advertised perimeters and if it pops then , oh well its a boss , I'll spend another $120.00 . I would wager shipping cost both ways that it would do better per dollar than this amp. It will fail horribly at reaching its advertising but as fail to fail I think the boss is a much better lie per fail per dollar than this vfl .
