    My wife had two pandas, you will love this story, she phoned me saying it had stopped after it got slower and slower, I asked if any lights on the dash were on, she said a little red light came on several miles back. I was not amused that was the temperature warning light, she drove on until the engine sized. My dad had a garage business so we towed it to the garage thinking it was scrap. The next day my father phoned me saying he went out turned the ignition on and started the engine up and that it was fine all it needed was a fan belt as it had broken and caused the overheating. She drove the car for another two years before we sold it, true testimony to how tough those little Fiat engines were.

    I bought this very car from Ant. Absolutely love it, it’s very basic but that is its charm. It’s not skipped a beat in nearly two months, there’s not a lot to go wrong! It picks up well but I have to agree, the brakes are terrible!
    Hope to keep it a long time, glad I got it from Ant, top bloke.

    I had the top spec 1000S as a student bought new, with tinted glass, 5 speeds, wider tyres and better wheels, blaupunkt stereo and other minor upgrades. It was quick in London in urban areas, and completely reliable in the 20 years I owned it and the 150,000 miles. It would also comfortably cruise at 80mph on the motorway, with four people so not only a city car. The Problem was mainly rust being left outside, under the doors and on the roof. I swapped it for a brand new Panda 100hp in 2010 which i still own and which is great fun and again underrated in value.

    My uncle had a white panda back in 87, on my 4th birthday that year it brought home my present from my granda, as the panda had fold down rear seats, my dads Orion didnt 🙂 the bike survives.... now in my garage, a Campagnolo BMX. Uncle, granda and almost certainly the panda are long gone ❤️

    Thats a posh one with the FIRE unit and the Omega rear axle - I had a SEAT Marbella - basically a Mk1 Panda with a leaf sprung rear beam ( v. bouncy ) and a 903cc OHV engine - all 40bhp

    I had a 1993 one with a 989cc engine as my 1st car and absolutely loved it.
    Worse mistake I did was selling it for £100 in 2005 - I did crash it twice due to black ice and a pot hole, that 2nd one made me loose interest but I still regret selling it - Damage wasn't actually terrible and could have been saved, I really want another one but the prices have sky rocketed haha
    You guy moving towards the end lifting the panda, I remember going out of my house and watch 3 fire men doing the exact same thing with my car, I was parked on the corner in my space but they needed a tiny bit more room for the truck to get around

    Panda's are the best. I've currently owned 7 cars in the 7 years I've had a licence, and the car I'd have back above all else is my Panda 100hp. I loved that car. Always look out for it if it ever comes back for sale again

    I was driving (My Alfa), touring Italy last year and honestly thought that Italian home market Pandas must have bigger engines. Then i realised that it was just down to the way Italians drove them!

    I love the old school Fiats. I own a '94 Punto 90 ELX, a '92 Tipo 1.4 S, a '87 Croma Turbo i.e. and a Coupé 20V Turbo. Greetings from Germany 🙋‍♂️ PS: I'd love to see a Croma Turbo on your channel!

    Who would buy any modern car over this Fiat Panda, Cinquecento/Seicento for every day urban use, cheap to buy, insure, maintain, no adblue, complicated electronics, good ride and handling, non interference engine, in fact it's a non interference vehicle.

    I had a later version of that 1000cl… a 1992 K plate 1000ie with SPI and a Cat, plus 5-speed gearbox and 155/65 13 Pirelli P8 tyres on those same skinny steelies. It was in a lovely turquoise colour and had a modernised plastic grille. I upgraded to some lovely MIM alloys and did lots of motorway miles between Chester and Milton Keynes before trading up to a Tipo 1.4 i.e.
    Brakes were fine…..

    'All speeds are doubled' - I had a TVR Chimaera, but driving my mum's Fire 1000 Panda (on bicycle tyres) at 40mph was as exciting as a TVR at 100 (in Germany, of course).

    I’m afraid Panda’s bigger sibling, the Uno, is Fiat’s best selling car ever. More Uno’s were produced in Italy than Panda’s and and more Uno’s were produced outside of Italy than Panda’s. Even if you include the third and fourth generation Panda.

    • @peterthedoor
      @peterthedoor 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True, but Pandas are still around today (the fact that 4x4 achieved cult status might have helped) , Unos became kinda rare even here in the south (and the fact the Turbo is a cult is counterbalanced by the fact they tended to hit trees)

    • @hansc8433
      @hansc8433 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, you’re right. Why would that be? Is the Panda maybe more of a cult car? Or was/is it cool to own one. I’ve owned several Unos, but they all either rotted away, or the engine died. I recently found one from 1989 (mark I), with 33,000 kms. From the first owner, no rust, first one with SPI engine, no luxuries or extras whatsoever. Still fun to drive. I also own a (disassembled) X1/9 and a fully restored Uno Turbo 1300 engine. Hope to finish that car before 2030 and not hit any trees :-)

    I`ve still got an 89 Panda tucked away, a 32,000 mile 750L with an outrageous 34bhp.. It is slow & fun, & crazy economical, but, I prefer driving my Uno`s, because they go round corners much better, & don't weigh much more!

    Loved the Video guys, but would have liked it even more if you;d driven an early pre FIRE engine 903cc model. They had non servo brakes and every junction was an act of faith.....but they stopped great. Used to love driving my father in law's second Panda which was the same as yours. That engine took all sorts of abuse, not that I told him !!!!

    Ciao !
    My wife had a 750L also a 4 speed as you mentioned it was surprisingly nippy and pulled strongly, she had a 126 bis before that twin cylinder 650cc😅
    These are brilliant, fun, characterful fun little cars, most people don't get them and what they are about.
    There's an old Italian saying
    "Gli italiani vivono per le piccole auto italiane"
    "The italian peoples love for small italians cars"
    This is so true. My dad and I have had loads over the years.
    The panda engine was originally a 903 ohv pushrod, think it was 30bhp before the fire engine was introduced upping it to 45 and 60 bhp same as the uno outputs, there were loads of option levels, Ltd edition 1s aswell, remember the white italia 90 panda with football style wheel covers ! 😅 I think the top spec panda was the 1000s, super which gad wheel covers, door n mouldings, generally better looking and more comfortable, the red 1 you have is a prime example, engines and gearbox are brilliant, all very basic and easy for us to laugh but back then these cars were a revelation.
    Fists were so advanced, well thought out and engineered for their time and of course so easy to work on and maintanance, there's a lot to be said about small fiat's and their cheeky individual characters 😊
    💚🤍❤️

    A 1995 900cc is my daily driver, it's nothing short of brilliant. The design of the car is just superb and the drive is excellent. Mine has done about 35,000 miles and had two owners, which helps. I do most jobs on it myself but there isn't often that much to do. I driver in preference to my other far newer and far more expensive cars without even stopping to think.
