    A cool thing to try is the repositionable tabs like the Avery Mini Ultra Tabs or the Avery Margin Ultra Tabs to label the sections in your binder. They have a writable surface, they're super durable, and because they're repositionable they can be changed out whenever you need to. It's how I do it in all of my school binders, file folders, and multi-section notebooks. Hope you have a good school year!

    This is such a clever set up!!!
    I'm an English teacher as well (3rd year, TZR) and I'm SO glad I stumbled upon this video! Good luck for your M2 year, I remember the going back and forth can be tiring... For the last 3 years (counting my student-teaching year) I didn't really have a strong organisation system (and watching this video I was thinking how they SHOULD be teaching this kind of organisation tips at the ESPE), first using a Clairefontaine Teacher Book, then a marks notebook and a file box or binder thingee... It was always quite messy actually! Last year I discovered bullet journaling and started using a personnal bullet journal, and found out it was useful as well to keep track of the things I had to do for work, meetings etc. For this school year I decided to try and use a Teacher Binder, using documents from the One-Stop Teacher shop and others, but I'm definitely going to follow up on your system (and take a look at your other bujo videos ^^)!
    Have a great year !

    • @SunshineStationery
      @SunshineStationery  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Laure-Elise Andria thank you! I'm a bit nervous about my M2 because I have to transfer from the university in my town to one over an hour away (I got my CAFEP and the one in my town is an ESPE...), so I'm trying to get as organized as I can off the bat! I agree that they should be teaching this kind of stuff!! I've been working in education (as an assistant and as an interpreter in the US) for a few years, so I've seen what a difference it can make firsthand...but a lot of my classmates have never been in the classroom as anything other than a student for very much! And this is definitely a learned skill 😱I'm sure I'll need to make changes to my system because the majority of my teacher bujo inspiration came from teachers in the US...I'd love to here how your system goes and if you discover any amazing tips during the course of the year!! Bonne rentrée ! 😉

    Hi! I'm Luci. I'm an EFL teacher in Argentina. Our school year goes from March to December, so I'm planning on using these amazing useful tips you have given us here for my next year planning.
    I noticed that I already use some of the planning strategies you showed, such as colour coding each class (I teach 3 classes too), using post-its for sitting arrangements, etc.
    I've been a silent watcher for a few months, I follow your IG account too, and I love your spreads!
    Thank you for sharing, and I'll keep visiting your channel! Lots of love from Argentina.

    I don’t know about France, but in the US students can be added to your class as the students move to your area from different locales. That section in the bujo you are waiting to set up until you see if you have 29 students would be a disaster here in the US because of what I mentioned above.

    • @SunshineStationery
      @SunshineStationery  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Teresa Wiles That can happen here, but I don’t think it happens as frequently as it can in the US. That said, while this section is working so far for this year (with only three classes since I’m a student teacher) I can already tell I’ll have to use a different system next year once I have a full teaching load! And I’ll probably use a system that would allow me the flexibility of adding students because you just never know... 😅

    That calendex from Alexandra Plans has been very helpful for pacing. I'm glad I followed her suggestion to have a separate one for each grade. My notebooks are really inexpensive - not LTs - so I can dedicate the space. Helps me avoid confusion.

  • @Sandra-zu4ff
    @Sandra-zu4ff 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Beautiful journal! Thank you for sharing with us. Though, I want you to know you’re using the word “spreads” a little incorrectly. A spread refers to two pages open that go along with the same information and theme. Your monthly that goes across both pages would be a spread. But your year at a glance that is on the single sheet would just be called a page. Spreads are two, Page is one :)

    • @SunshineStationery
      @SunshineStationery  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sandra !! Thank you! While that is technically true, and I used to make the same distinction, over time, I’ve adapted my own definition: I tend to use “spread” to mean a type of collection or a collection’s layout on the page (for example, in my brain, a year at a glance is a different kind of collection than a packing list, and so I classify it as a spread)...it may not be official jargon (or even very clear to others...😅) but there is a reason behind why I use the word - and even if it’s technically “wrong” I’m not too fussed because Bullet journaling is also about making the system your own and this is one of the quirks of my own personal usage of the system that helps me clarify things in my mind ☺️ on the other hand, I can see how it might be confusing to others who are newer to the system or who prefer the strict definition!

    I really enjoyed this video, thank you! :) Smart idea to use post-it notes for the seating chart - totally gonna copy that ;D
    I have a question about your participation tracker. You said you'd put a check mark whenever a student participated in class. How exactly does that work? Will you walk back to your desk each time a student says something? Or can you remember it all and put all your check marks at the end of the lesson? I'm asking because I have a super hard time tracking in-class participation and have not yet found a system that works for me ;) Thanks!

    • @SunshineStationery
      @SunshineStationery  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +mittsommar thanks! Happy to help 😉 As for participation...I'm still trying to figure that out...(it's my first year teaching, so I don't want to start too many things that I can't keep up...) however, I thought, if I did do it, I would either carry my book with me...or carry my clipboard and note participation on there and then transfer it... haha still a work in progress!

      If you have a "wipeboard" notecard with sitting chart or student number/indentifier (laminated Index card) with you clipboard it makes it much easier to keep track of participation. Then transfer over when correct class work each day into the tracker. Then erase it to start over.

    • @SunshineStationery
      @SunshineStationery  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Janelle Wingert OFS I actually have something similar that I want to try! I printed my class lists on colored paper (to match my color coding system) and laminated them so I can write on them with a whiteboard marker! I keep them on my clipboard so I can carry them during class.. I'm hoping that will be easier... ☺️

      Amanda Well I am a student so I can help but students are more drawn to teachers that are dedicated, give something to students to look forward to, like effective fun activities. Let your students know that they shouldn't be afraid to ask questions, I know people that are so afraid just to ask a question, let them know that this is a safe place.

    • @hayleymar
      @hayleymar 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stay on top of stuff as best as you can, but make sure to take time to take care of you. Starting off can be very overwhelming. The biggest help honestly is having good mentors--yes, multiple. Observe as much as you can while you're studying, and build off of others' experience instead of trying to reinvent the wheel on your own. (I'm not saying "steal someone else's work" but see what methods, tone, energy, philosophies, etc, someone uses and maybe "try it on"/consider if it something that could help build you into a stronger teacher or something that "doesn't fit" you.) You feel like you're learning so much in school, but then the tables are turned when suddenly you're the teacher in front of a classroom full of students and you realize there is so much you weren't taught, so much that can't be taught about teaching. This is the part the mentors are especially vital for!

      I actually avoid using the French terms sometimes - mostly since a large portion of my audience are from English-speaking countries and so wouldn’t know what they mean but also because I feel a bit odd throwing in French when I speak English in my videos; but I’m actually not French...I’m from the US 😂

    I understand that some personal information cannot be seen by public. But watching a video with mostly covered doesnt help for viewers to get the whole idea.
