This video is brought to you by @carVerticalin this episode of Make or brake i explain why my GT40 MEGABUILD is over but there may be light at the end of the tunnel!!! with thanks from the master mechanic Josh Wigley i bought my self an astounding 1 of 1 Ford GT40 chassis!!
I wondered how this was going. We met at Goodwood, I look after the Burgundy MK3. Good find on the chassis. I take it you are still going the MK3 route? The center tunnel has to go, the cooling pipes run on the inside either side next to the sills (not ideal but that's how they are). The MK3 uses a Mini handbrake lever between the seats (yes that is original). Gear lever was fitted to in the center so Ford could make them LHD for the US. The steering rack on the MK3 is unique to the MK3 (so you'll be fine with the one fitted). The switches should be MK1 Ford Escort. I have over a thousand photos of a MK3 in bits. Oh and i've recently been quite involved in the recommission of a 427 Cobra that we put back to 'Targa Florio' Spec (it spent near on 40 years at Beaulieu)
I love the attention to detail. And how you're trying to actually make it authentic. Mad respect to you all that you're doing been following the build from beginning
Keep cracking on matey !! Never give up on your dream ! 👊
Full marks Sam. As someone who's not going throw the blisters and tears, it's such a series to watch. Much tougher for you.
The GT40 is one of the all time greats and, you're heading towards a superb build.
This is going to be fun. I'm sorry to hear of all the problems with the original build
Don’t give up! keep going! Yea Bro you should have just bought a full kit and saved a lot of headaches but these things happen. You just gotta keep pushing on. I hope you get a GT ripping in the near future.
The build has moved to the next level keep working on everything you do 👍👍
There's no Ugg Boots in this video... I feel cheated.
Don’t let the ups and downs beat you brother. Love your style, keep on keeping on!! Peace from down under!!
Thanks matey
Holy shit Sam. That's beyond next level. You're really going to have to up your game with this car now.
Good luck again Gents. 🤞 Good job you are called Hard Sam, as you do seem to make it harder and far more expensive than it needs to be. Here you have another bespoke one-off chassis that you’ve got to then try to fit all the oily and suspension bits on. If you wanted a monocoque then you could have bought a new one from Tornado or Superformance who both offer these, and the components you have spent lots of $ on would bolt straight on as their chassis have been designed to take the 302 SBF, not a Rover / Buick V8. Fitting Mk3 clams to that would be no harder than what you are contemplating here 🙄
Can't wait to see how you guys manage to combine the two cars. It'll be a challenge but WELL worth it!
Don't give up guys 💪. 😊
KVAs were shit when new, the MK3 bodies were accurate, being moulded off an original with Ford's blessing, but no one cares about mk3s and correct Route Borrani wheels will set you back 5 figures.
Get a new body of that guy on GT40 forum, I forget his name. It is the only one worth bothering with, sell what is left of the MK3 body for a few hundred quid. Front and rear clams are about the only worthwhile part after this time.
Harsh, but true.
I know this car from its inception, and the Guy who built it. Would love to give you a lot of info, it was stored in one of my garages for years. Also some of the people who knew him and family and would love to see it finished.
Please get back me.
When will we see the next Ultima vid?
Sunday matey
Love to see you making something you can really be proud of, even if it means redoing a lot of things and spending even more money.
It's worth taking your time to do shit right even if it means some grumbling from the cheap seats. It's your car after all, and you're the one who has to live with it - at the end of the day you'll never please everyone.
Yes!! Good choice to make the switch you have to cut your losses sometimes
Can't wait to see this new build. And yes you gotta race it with your other yellow car.
All those Hydraulic and fuel pumps need to be rebuilt . Every O ring is trashed but she looks like a good chassis .
Sam best of luckn, i know the feeling buying basketcase of rustbucket chasse and trying fix it weld it straight it out , then just buying real nice shell wiht no rust and strong bones , where you can bolt on nice bits.
Dude you have a great basis for a GT40mk 1 road car with this new purchase. and you want to toss this off and put into a less than good MKIII project. Ditch the MK III to someone else. Keep the Alloy alloy uprights and send the ones from the MKI to the MKIII. Or build both but I think you will in the end find the MKI will bring better Money than the MK III.... there is a thought, build them both. keeping the best bits for the MKI and see which one sells better. My money is the mK 1 with the replica steel tub. If you can get a steel roof section from Gelscoe to complete the sheet steel tub homage, then you are really on your way to making something with better value. Just my 2 pence....
We’re on the same plan mate! Love your idea
I just can’t believe how close you are to me where I actually live it’s just a shame I’ve never seen any of your cars
Can't wait to see this underway . . . a very exciting project.
Fair play
Awesome! I can't wait to see it done!
This is my favorite car of your channel. I hope you can figure it out.
Those front wheels are Buick grand national 😊
Look like Jag xj40 to me, maybe they came on both?
Not a step backwards. An upgrade. 👍
1:43 lol, thank you, “that wow car” is my car. 👍🏻
Mate that truly is a wow car sorry I should have asked for permission:)
No problem, at least you used it as an example of a good one… 😜
I work down the road from you, give me a shout if you need a hand👍🏻
I hope it work you I thinknyour chasing your tail avit mate trying to get too many different pieces from different manufacturers to work go back to basics I would improve abit on how it was originally
Okay, so it's not a pukka GT40 steel "Spider" Monocoque. Thumbnail was misleading. That being the case, keep the gearshift on the RHS. Better, cooler, safer. Sell your old bodywork.
Yes! 👍 let’s do it!
i think you overpaid for the original car, did you get money back for the stolen parts?
Not yet matey
Sam loved your attitude and drive, but to be honest you have become Nothing gets finished Garage. Still watch your bits but now without the must see factor. So come on you two. Give us finished projects that amaze not leave us as usual in a daze...🤔
Ultima video coming Sunday
Episode 59 is episode 60😂
WHOOT !!
Sometimes the money becomes irrelevant. I'll grudge hump this into reality.
“I bought the remnants of a Gt40 and will make it live again” show gt40 bones and finished idea in image and your face. More views
Nice!!
Who told you that thumbnail was a good idea?
sell the car to Mat Armstron
It appears you have a KVA MK 1 C-type Chassis I will send you the magazine Series done by Graham Endecott, to your email.
Many thanks
sent to SMG email.
Could you send to sam@hardupgarage.com many thanks again

Finish the ultima not seen it for weeks, just losing interest in the channel
Yet you take the time to comment, run along
@@josephkelly4893 buy num nuts
Hope you sue who ever had them and stole em sounds like a inside job
So the money you got from your Fake Lambo you've spent it on the GT40. Can't wait pal.
Never will I ever buy anything with a kit-car/replica discription comes wiith it .... even Superformance is just an expensive high end novelty product .... for the same amount of time n $$, I'll get a proper cars/bikes to indulge in ..... not even a Noble/Volvo crap mash up for me.
I wouldn’t get that excited about a kit car built in a garage. 🤷♂️
Can you let me have a contact email address . I’d be interested in purchasing the parts you no longer require including the rover v8.
